Why, on the weekend devoted to the memory of American men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country, defending our Freedoms under the flag of the United States of America, do you choose to make this post?

And please, wait to answer until Tuesday...

Thanks

Contrary to what you think I posted this just out of curiosity. For those that are aware there is a world outside of the USA there are others serving Americas cause in the "war on terror". Those servicemen from Poland, Holland, Denmark, Ukraine , Great Britian and Germany who have paid with their lives in Afghanistan and Iraq deserve to be mentioned too. ;c

Meaning no disrespect to the members of the militaries of other countries also fighting the War on Terror, it was my understanding this Forum would be a place for those who served and fought and are serving and fighting under the Stars and Stripes.

I invite other members of the Veterans Forum to correct me if I am wrong, however, my feelings are quite strong that this should be that way.

I disagree with you that this should be a place solely for US vets. Old soldiers from many nations would make this forum more colourful.

The title does say VETRANS FORUM, it doesn't mention or require you to be a US vet, more the merrier, any who have served are my brothers and sisters, and those who have died have my undying respect and graditude

Thanks Leadbutt....

Some Americans seem to think that their military is the only relevant one or the only one with a glorious past.

Well, if you compare the US to France, it is...

Just a suggestion...

Veteran is is a Veteran, doesn't matter where he served. And our military has its roots from best european militar traditions, so I think he is allowed to ask that question.

I agree with Russ, especially after reading some of spetsnas777's comments on the WW II Memorial (in this Forum). His comments are on the verge of being inappropriate and disrespectful.

Another example: In the General Non-Glocking forum, thread "The Soviet Union won WW II", his response to "the Italians could have been used for occupation troops in Western Europe to free up German troops for the Eastern front":

"That would have meant Italian troops manning the Atlantic Wall on D-Day...
"Sergeant Pellegro- the Americans are coming ashore!!!"
"Mama mia! Well give them some anti pasti before the main course!!"

According to his profile, he is young (born in 1978), but old enough to know better.

Comments there maybe were not tasteful but they weren't disrespectful.

Guys, could you give this a break until after...

ah, never mind, spetsnaz777, you're having too much fun demeaning the memory of those of those who died in service of this country.

Have at it...

On the contrary I have the highest respect for any serviceman or woman that lays down their life for their country.

More respect than I have for the vast majority of the proletariat who dont serve at all.

I am sticking up for any soldier that served his county with honor. I believe we can strongly disagree with, or even hate, the leaders of a foreign country, but the soldier that serves his country with honor should be respected.

Ok, we have now Wednesday, so I will give you my opinion. When this forum was formed I asked: can I visit this forum and feel like it's my place also? Answer was yes, Veteran is a Veteran. I have great respect for US service soldiers and maybe one day my children will become US soldiers too. Just my 0.02
BTW I was a soldier in Polish Army.

There is a thread, "Vets, tell us about your service...". Would you share with us about your service?:)

spetsnaz, I am very puzzled by your absolute hypocracy and ignorance. On the one hand you can't sing enough praises for the Germans or Russians. But then you can't find any for the Italians.

Could you let teh rest of us veterans know of your record of military service? I am just very curious as to how you became such an "expert" in this area. Thanks in advanced.
