Hello guys. I am very excited as I have just ordered a Bushmaster today with my fathers consent. It is a post ban M-4 a3 style with Bushmasters new "izzy" brake installed. It should be here next week. Now I'd like to ask you guys about some cheap ammo (due to range regulations only brass case) and accesories. Thanks in advance!
There is a lot of decent Russian made .223 ammo out there. Just avoid the Wolf - but that's not brass cased anyway.
The South African made .223 is really nice. PMP I think.

I have yet to order ammo online for my AR but you can get .223 40 round WWB value packs at wal-mart for about $7.50 which is a pretty good price and the stuff is good enough to plink with at least. I think it is fine stuff.
But if you aren't over 18 you might have a hard time buying it...

Where do you get your ammo from? I'd like to save a few bucks.

I think that place is a bit pricy, I was looking for a place that sells ammo by the box so I dont have to spend 100+ on ammo since I only shoot once every 2 weeks.

Burke, if you want ammo only by the box, you might try your local gunshop, or Walmart.

Outdoormarksman.com is quite often cheaper, even after shipping is factored in.

If your new Bushy's brake is permanently attached, you might want to reconsider. (Makes barrel work very difficult, and the brakes are obnoxiously loud.)

CiaHitman, I (as in my parents) usually do buy from the local gunshop ;P but I would like to find a place over the internet to buy too, in case I do get some extra cash burning a hole in my pocket. I just want to be able to adjust the ammount I buy more presicly(sp) than using the "truckload" unit.
WalterGA, Im not sure if it is permanetly attached, however I have heard that the IZZY brake is not as loud as the infamous "Y-comp".
So far I beleive an aim point and a vertical foregrip would be nice accesories.
Thanks for the input to all! Keep it coming.

Do you buy the ammo yourself or have someone of legal age buy it for you? "you're break" ;) is probably pinned on if it's post ban. At least, that's how the one is on my AR10.

Yes, I do have to have my parnets buy it. (or legal guardian;Q ) I have the say in what type as I am paying for it with my hard earned money from McDonalds. (just a few more years away now...;f )
Congrats on the new rifle! My local dealer had some CZ ammo, brass, cheap as hell but I can't remember the name of it...

M193 (http://www.dealerease.net/catalog/subcategory.asp?scid=11&ret_id=373508) is the only stuff I run. It's military surplus ammo. Strong, reliable, and at just over $3.00 a box its cheap too!

Burke888, we somehow ended up with two of your threads with identical titles running here in the Black Rifle Club. I suspect one of them was possibly moved here from another forum by one of the other Mods or Admin. For efficiency's sake, I combined the two separated threads into one combined thread.

Hey, niner! While you're at it, how about edifying the newbie about the f.a. feature of the JP trigger/hammer combo! ;)

Walter, POSTING is okay, but you're not driving while you're hopped-up on that Solomon Juice, are you? ;)
Take care,

Hotshot SS109 at Century is inexpensive (If you buy a couple thousand rounds at a time. Roughly 17 cents per shot delivered).

Gee thanks, that ammo sure is cheap. In the meantime I just bought a 30rnd mag. (store I bought the gun from ran out...:( ) The mag does not have any brand name labels and has a parkerized finish. no signs of any real use but the finish has some blemishes(only noticable when light is reflected from certain points), most likely from being in a box with about 30 others while customers rumage through them. Came with a black folower which was soon replaced by a green one. Just thinking about shooting that first shot out of my own black rifle gets me all excited...;g

The gun came in today, I should have it picked up and brought back to my house by 7 tonight. In the meantime I found some ammo to buy, UMC for $4 per 20rnds. It isnt the cheapest stuff but at least I don't need to pay shipping. Is UMC that good? I've shot it in "my" .40 pistols and it worked fine. Anyone know how well it works in centerfire rifles?
if your gonna say your a proud owner lets see some pics

I've fired a bit of it, and seen it used in several other AR-type rifles, sometimes with surprisingly good results, accuracy-wise. Other times, in other weapons, it's just average, so you'll have to try it in your weapon and test it to see how well it shoots. It should function just fine, if your magazines are decent quality. Unmarked mags are hard to quantify; they can be good, or they can be crap. Hope you got a good one. :)

Thanks to all for the support. Apperently the Bushmaster came with a mini-y comp, to be honest I am not dissappointed. Earlier I said it came with an Izzy brake, apperently I was mistaken. Hey, everybody can mess up once in awhile ;f . I know the y-comp is very loud, but just how loud? The range I go to is indoors, but hearing is required, so should I have any complaints from the people in the next stall? I wont become the most hated member of the range will I?

I'd pay more from Eric. I get hotter ammo than WWB that way, as well as true 5.56 brass.

Yes, unless there is someone there shooting a 300 win mag or other assorted magnum flavor of the day, who also has a brake on his rifle. Brakes on guns suck. See my rant in the hearing protection thread in GNG for details.
Especially for an AR15. My friend who is a 4"10 80# girl shoots my non-braked ar just fine, and also enjoys popping off rounds from my non-braked AK47.
Should have ordered a non-comp'd model and been done with it, like I did, instead of unnecessarily subjecting others to additional noise without any good reason to whatsoever.
This is one of my pet peeves, which is why I'm being a prick about it.
That said congrats on getting an ar. Now just save up for a replacement upper minus a brake.

Burke, you can modify your Mni Y brake so it not so loud and will still funtion as a muzzle break. It has to do with enlarging the holes or something like that. I will try to do a search at AR15.com, and let you know. Some guys swear that they are great muzzle breaks once modified and don't kill their ears, or the ears of their fellow shooters.

Here is a pic, not very high res, mainly because my digital camera is very bad. (So bad, I am not joking here, it was free;P ) Also I have a question (or two) to ask. My rear sight is perfect except for the fact that the entire peice (seperate from the carry handle) seems to be angled slightly to the left. I have it in it's "zeroed" position with Windage centered and set to the 6/3 mark. Is this natural, a factory defect or something easily fixed? I have tried to adjust it to be straight but after any adjustments with windage, elavation, or apertures the whole peice tilts slightly to the left again. Also when zeroing the elevation is set to the 6/3 mark at it's zero?
Thanks for the input.
