How about creating forum about cars and anything thats connects to them. I have seen plenty of posts about cars, so it would be nice to have place where all car nuts on glock talk could call home.

I raced in Hawaii, I haven't been to the tracks yet now that I'm back in California, and street racing around here is too risky.

I'm into 4x4s also. I had an 87 Pathfinder with a 3" lift and 30" tires. I could only ship one car back though so I sold it. I'm looking to buy an 85 4runner now.

My goal in life is to have a car and a truck and beable to use one parking space. The car that low and the truck that high.

Nice GTO. give us details.

Goatman
10-03-2004, 21:57
It's a 71 455HO, Ram Air and 4 speed. Has a 12 bolt 3:08 Safe-T-Track. Hood tach and NOS rear wing. Has Power steering and brakes, tilt wheel, cruise control and air conditioning. I had the original AM-FM radio converted to digital and have have 2 front and 2 rear speakers and a 300 watt amp, with a 12 disc remote CD changer in the trunk. Also, 15x7 Rally II wheels in front and 15x8" Rally's in back. I've owned it 10 1/2 years and it was freshly restored 1 1/2 years ago. It appeared in the August issue of High Performance Pontiac Magazine in their first ever Dyno Shootout. They do a monthly Shootout series which has always been based on drag racing. This was the first, perhaps only dyno shootout.

Thanks

It was nothing to brag about. The thrust of the artical was to pit all of the hottest GTO's against a 2004 and jsut see which one really was top dog. They used a 66 tri-power, a 70 Ram Air 3 (couldn't locate 70 Ram Air 4 in time for the deadline) a 71 455HO and a 2004. The other owners are members of a GTO club in Southern Cal I know and the 04 was a GM factory car. The 66 did 200 HP and 263 torque, the 70 RA3 with RA4 cam did 279 HP and 316 torque. The 04 did 297 HP and 314 torque. My 71 did 283 HP and 356 torque. Incidently, the HO and it's 2 1.2" exhaust with Flowmaster Series 50 mufflers sounded bad enough that it drew a crowd from outside.

Here's what my coupe looked like when I bought it for $200.It was a 2.3 4cyl w/ a 4spd,no A/C,manual steering and it was such a base model that it doesn't have a passenger side mirror.

http://www.mustangmods.com/data/22/coupe.jpg

Now it looks like this:

It should run 11s on Sunday and all for a grand total of $1637

I'd like to add that I hate Edelbrock carbs :soap:

Whenever I would launch and the front of the car would lift all of the fuel would go to the rear bowl and the car would bog :soap:

It should've went 11s tonight but I didn't even crack open the nitrous bottle since I couldn't make a full pass on motor :soap:

It's all bone stock 4cyl suspension and brakes ;P

The only thing that I swapped suspension wise was the rear when I put in my 8.8 w/3:73s.

It has a roller 302,T5,ported E7s,Edelcrap carb,Weiand intake,nitrous,MAC long tubes,off road H,2 chamber flows and 1.6 RRs.
