View Full Version : Recommend a grip for Steyr M?
I was thinking of getting a Hogue Hand-All, but I wanted to hear some opinions. I'd like the best fit.

Befor you go and spend buy a handall or something like that get a new standard bicycle tube, cut a piece off and slip it over the grips. I was amazed at how much it improved the feel of the grip and for only $2. If you don't like it then you can always take it off and then you have gained a $2 valve stem cap ;)
The bike innertube is an inexpensive way to go. If that doesn't work, consider Agrip. I like it better than the bike tube or Hogue grips. A lot of Glockers do to.
I've used the bicycle inner tube for about nearly 3yrs now and have no complaints. My tube was free and cost me nada.
It works dry or wet, doesn't slip, hasn't crack or worn down and best of all it was free.

Hi there. I'm new to the forum, but have been lurking for a while. I found the grip of my M40 to be too slippery so I used some of the 3M grip tape (the kind that you use to line outdoor steps so you don't slip) from Home Depot. I cut it into slender strips and it adheres very well to the grip. I chose not to go with the Hogue or a slip-on b/c the thickness of the grip was already just right for me.

And a small strip on the back
Thanks for all the advice. Definately some creative ideas around here. With all of Wilhelm Bubit's innovative ideas on his pistol, I'm suprised he didn't make the butt of the grip more secure in the hand.

Maybe one of the reasons they've redesigned it for the M-A1...

Depends on use:
CCW: use as is or possibly Agrip - I don't use it but seems like it would not catch on clothing
Competition/other shooting: grip tape. This one: "I found the grip of my M40 to be too slippery so I used some of the 3M grip tape (the kind that you use to line outdoor steps so you don't slip) from Home Depot."
Yep - it will tear up your hand if you shoot a couple hundred rounds at a time, but you'll develope calouses as your times drop. Its all about winning & to do that, learn to shoot accurate & fast.

I've also used the 3M grip tape on my Ruger MkII Target. Works great and has never peeled.
