I was just reading the CA DOJ's list of approved handguns and Steyr is no where to be found. Why is this? Is it because Steyr has not bothered to send them a guinea pig pistol?
It also states:
"Effective January 1, 2001, no handgun may be manufactured within California, imported into California for sale, lent, given, kept for sale, or offered/exposed for sale unless that handgun model has passed firing, safety, and drop tests and is certified for sale in California by the Department of Justice. Private party transfers, curio/relic handguns, certain single-action revolvers, and pawn/consignment returns are exempt from this requirement."
Does this mean that because I already own my Steyr M9, I could legally take it to CA to visit and it would not be illegal because I did not buy it new in CA, but out of state? Conversly, I assume that my CZ52 would be legal as well underneath the exception for C&R pistols? Is importing the pistol the same as bringing it with you on a trip to CA for some range time?
