Yes, sir, you protect that piece of paper: scan it, copy it, photograph it, then put that mutha in your safe deposit box. It not only proves your value to the country, ya might need it, the original, later to prove you exist!!!

Okay, so I exaggerate a bit...

Thanks you for your service;? ;?

I was cleaning the garage last week and found my original DD-214 dated 31 Jul 72. That was kind of cool. I think I had one miniturized and laminated after I got out. I remember that we transitioned from service numbers to SSN during my stint.

Congrats on yours and thanks for your service.

You may also want to check with your County Clerk. Our county clerks will keep a certified copy on record, which is helpful when you want to get a VA loan 10 years down the road and can't find the originial/fire/ etc.. etc...

Congrat's and thank you for your service!

Congrats!!! I agree with the advice about taking it to the county clerk, that way you can get a new official copy any time you need one. I will never forget how pleased I was when I got mine!

I have done 8 years. Glad to be out to start new life, but something inside me is saying that I will miss part of military life. Also, I'm a member of VFW since January. Anybody knows what are procedures in Pennsylvania to VFW licence plate. Or I just might wait until OEF or OIF plates will become avaible:)
