I am picking up a MAS-36 this weekend that I found for $60. The stock has been refinished and repaired (had a crack near the tang) but the lands and grooves are perfect......almost makes me wanna make a crack about never fired (perfect bore) and only dropped once (cracked stock). ;e
How should I expect this thing to shoot? I figure for $60 you can't go wrong either way but it'd be nice to know it'll hit what I aim it at out to at least 300 yards.

Have you found an ammo source yet?
Brass is pretty hard to find, but can be formed from 6.5x55 Swede if you reload.

No, no brass source, but I don't reload anyway, no time for it and no real interest in doing it anyway.
I do have an ammo source at $8 per box of 20 but I doubt I'll be shooting it alot anyway.

That's cheaper than my local source for .303 British FMJ (new).
The MAS36 was actually a halfway decent rifle, though because of who made it and when, it gets underrated. They shoot well from what I understand. Expect WW2-Mauser-type accuracy (not a tackdriver, but reasonably good). I may be able to dredge up the disassembly procedure, give me a couple days.
