View Full Version : C&R wait
Hey,
I was wondering how long it is taking recently to get a C&R.
Looks like ATF cashed my check about 2 months ago, so Now I am getting antsy. ( got a CZ52 Screaming at me to purchase it)
Am I too impatient? I know the website says it takes Up to 3 months, but I figured I would ask around and see if anyone is doing better than that timewise.
Any Advice?
It seems to vary from person to person. Most usually don't take too long, but there have been some folks that had to wait for months. Mine only took just around a month, and I submitted my application about a week and a half before Sept. 11, 2001. Go figure!
That said, BATFE regulations state that they are required to approve or deny the license within sixty days of reciept of an application. So, you might ought to give them a call and inquire as to the status of your application.
I got mine within a week of the BATF cashing the check. Total process from mailing the forms off to getting the blue envelope in the mail was 30 days.
Don't know if I happened to catch a slow period or what. I would give them a call if the check cleared two months ago.

I am still waiting.:( I mailed mine back in the first week of April. The check was cashed about a week later. I called them and they told me that they are "backed up" right now and will probably be waiting another month. Here is a number for the office in Georgia - (404)417-2750. They operate Mon-Fri from 8:30 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. eastern time. Give them a call and see if you get told something different.;)

well,, Thanks for the number.
The first person I got ahold of told me that it was an easy 60-90 day wait. Then she transferred me to the person that handles my state ( amongst a few others ). Well, this person is on vacation this week, to return next week. I left her my cell and a brief message. We shall see if I have to call her next week, or if she will return my call.
I hope I get it before prices go up on 52s and mosins.
Glad to know I am not alone in waiting though.
I'm dropping my application in the mail today (06/23/04).
I'll let everyone know when I get mine.

IIRC, it was 6 or 7 weeks to get mine, between mailing the packet and receiving my license.
arrrgh:( still no liscence.
I keep calling and leaving messages. ( havnt been able to get a person to answer the pphone in past two weeks.
No call backs from them so far.
well, I just got it. 5 months after sending it in.
Problem is,, it is made out for the wrong address, and so it got sent to wrong address, and as such it does me no good, because I dont want my firearms shipped to wrong address too. I called the nubmer on it to change it.. got operator to send me to TN agent, got her voicemail.. couldnt leave any message, becasue recording said mailbox was full!!!!!
called back, got opperator, told her my problem, she sent me to manager,.,, gues what, I got managers voicmail!!!
On top of it all, I am sure my package with rules and such went to wrong address,,,,, notifying a complete stranger to me that I have, or will have a collection of firearms at my home, ripe for the taking.
ARRRRGH
I sent my ap for my FFL in back in April. I got inspected by the ATF last Thursday and the Agent thought I should have it by the end of this month.

What kind of inspection did they do for a 03 license?

OK, update to the IB saga. Called three times this morning, finally got a cooperative operator. She told me that the supervisor for my state isnt taking calls yet, ( 10:30 ATL time ) but she gave me his name and his fax number. She told me to fax my license and he will fix it.
I faxed the copy, along with a nice letter explaining what is wrong and my frustration, and who I left messages with, etc etc.
In about a half an hour, "Dave" ( not the supervisor) called me. He was VERY polite and professional. He fixed it and said it will go out in mail tomorrow. He is also going to put in another order for my initial info and guidlines mailing.
Now lets hope it goes right this time!

Sent my renewal in at the beginning of May. Check was cashed last week of May. My license expired July 1. Called BATFE on July 26 and was advised to e-mail a question in order to avoid a 4-day wait for an answer to my question. I e-mailed on the 26th and still have no answer.
They tell me my license is good just because the check has been cashed. Yeah...try to tell that to the vendors when you send them an expired license...
