Sorry guys...we (mike and I) have a mutual friend who brought his steel match setup to the range...four plate racks with 8" and 12" plates and a TEXAS STAR. We had a blast today. FYI there will be an official range match next Sat. at 1pm at the EAST Texas Rifle and Pistol Club. Will consist of the above steel plus another TEXAS STAR stage (usaully divided into 3-4 stages) and a 3-4 stage IDPA part. price is usually $10.00. COME JOIN US! We usually have a good turn out ~30 shooters.

Oddly enough, my wife's mother's family are from the panhandle, and they had a family reunion in the municipal hall of the little town nearest the old farmstead. The walls of this hall are decorated with photos of the graduating classes of several decades early in the previous century, and lo and behold, I saw photos of all of Mrs. Baird's kids' pictures. I was just in Edom for the first time not too long ago.The land down there is gorgeous,I really like it on the eastern side of the town because the pine trees start to get really big.I might be moving down there in a year and a half.

As for The Sharpshooter range $14 an hour to shoot? seems a little high to me. Is it worth it?

The shooting choices really suck here, in (Sparta pop.8000)wisconsin you pay $5 a year for membership at the rod&gun club and you can shoot 7days a week sun-up to sun-down.
Here pop. 275,000 you would think there would more places to shoot: Starry Range $8 per gun, The Sharpshooter $14/hour, C.C. rifle&pistol range $120/year+ $50rip-off fee and only open 4or5 days a week.
Any suggestions?

Pearland Sportsman's Club on 528 heading towards I-35 right past the Polo and Soccer fields and under the giant broadcast tower it is about $175 to join only like $125 a yaer after that
I shoot indoors at Marksman Range in South Houston
Old highway 3 (Old Galveston) and Nebraska street 2 blocks north of Spencer where the Old fashioned Mac Donalds is

Don't forget about Texas City Municipal Shooting Range in Texas City. It's on Bay St, behind the levee.

They have 1,2, and 300 yard rifle ranges. Pistol range, archery range, Black powder range, and an awesome trap/skeet range. It is a full service outdoor range and the focus is on SAFETY. It is the very best outdoor range that I know of in the area.
