AggieMax,

What brand pinkie finger extension is that in your picture?

Does it just replace the regular mag floor plate?

I thought I have read somebody expressing either mag release or mag insert/locking problems with one brand of extension, on a Kahr.
What has been your experiences?

Thanks,
Fritz.

Having a pic posted doesn't use Eric's bandwidth unless its hosted on glocktalk. DMObrien's pic IS using Eric's bandwidth, the other two aren't. So long as people use personal hosting and not kahr's or eric's, it should be fine.

I'm not on my comp right now, but as soon as I get back I'll post my pics of my MK9.

I'm not AggieMax, but those are Peirce Kahr mag extensions & yup, they just replace the original floor plates. (The Peirce does come with a new floor plate "locker" too.)

The AGRIP gives the Kahr that SuperFly look, like a 1972 Buick Electra 225 redone with velour interior. Don't use the AGRIP myself (I have the Hogue Jr.) but those who do seem to be pretty happy with it.

compman

Michigun, I think maybe glock'r is even younger than that. The PM9 comes with a grip that is slightly too thin for me. I cut and installed a hogue for the finger grooves and to add a bit of width. I placed the agrip over the hogue making it a perfect fit for my hand and I enjoy the feeling of the Agrip and with the finger grooves. I get a nice strong but comfortable grip . The pierce mag ext. enables for an extra finger groove and makes a nice addition to complete a grip that works perfect for me.

I have had others who tried this idea and everyone seems to love the way it feels. This includes two owners of gun shops, so matter how strange it may seem, it does in fact make a nice grip.

What does age have to do with anything? I'm 12 years old because I give a negative opinion on something? Wanna talk 12 years old??? Well, let's see....posting pictures of guns seems really mature to me. Sort of like kids bringing home drawings they did in school. Yeah, and your "number club" also sounds really mature. I thought I was stupid because I didn't get it but it's obviously a game children like to play. I WANT NUMBER 1...WAAAAHHHH!! I may be 12 but you sound about 6 or 7. Now, please take your holier-than-thou attitude and shove it!

Well, you know, most people buy a gun that fits their hand. Not too many buy something too small and then modify it with all sorts of accessories just to make it bigger. Sounds like a P9 would be a better fit for you.

Short Cut
06-19-2004, 18:01
What's with the divisiveness? Nobody is being forced to buy something they don't like here. Shoot what you like and be happy about it. If a particular gun or modification doesn't turn your crank it's your perogative not to buy it, but why try to diminish the value of the gun somebody else likes? A little courtesy and respect towards other shooters goes a long way. There is room for all kinds of shooters in this forum and in the shooting sports in general.

Here's a little different picture.......hollowpoint expansion tests with the PM9.

http://www.ktrange.com/articles/a10/a10-3.html

The little PM9 does a good job with JHP ammo. Barrel is 3". I have a challenge out for anyone with a R9 (dirty word?) to do a similar wetpack test. I'm curious to see what the 1/8" shorter barrel will do. It's a function of velocity and some velocity will surely be lost.

I'm watching Marshall's stoppingpower site but so far he doesn't have a gelatin test with the R9. Big question if it will produce expansion at all and certainly penetration will be less. The PM9 meets the minimum for penetration with good expansion so I think we got a really good deal on our little Kahr's.

Cheers, aim high and if in a fight, shoot to lock back. (Can't say that with the R9, it don't lock back no how.)

I have not had a problem with it catching on any of my clothing, though I have not worn it in a pocket. I carry mine daily, tucked in my waistband without a holster (I know, I know but I work undercover and concealment is essential to my safety). I wear an undershirt to keep the pistol off of my bare skin, I think it would probably be slightly abraisive if I didn't. I did stipple a coworker's PM9 but left the entire left grip panel stock so that it wouldn't rub his skin because he doesn't like wearing two shirts.

Don't apologize; I do the same thing at times & there are times when my Clipdraw comes in handy. (I don't get into those debates anymore, either.) I will say that, particularly in hot weather, Agrip really helps the process if you don't have a t-shirt between you & the gun.

Hey guys, especially Mighigun,

I made a bad boo-boo. My new elite 2000 came with a "brushed aluminum" look that I loved and it made it shine and on certain angles you could see the brush marks. Well, now I have been using polishing stuff and silicon cloths, and that look is gone. ONly on the slide where I polish. It still shines but it is more beady now. How can I get back the "brushed aluminum" look again like in the pic above?

Thanks guys!

PLease tell me how you got your gun to keep the "brushed aluminum" look. I just received by MK9 Elite '03 and i used a silicon cloth and a tiny bit of polish. Tt completely took away all the brush marks and the shine. Is there a way I can strip down the slide and start over so it looks just like it came and they the way yours looks.

My luck, I probably ruined thr brand new finish.

Well, a "brushed look" is the result of a brush or wire wheel scribing orderly gouges with sharp peaks and valleys into a surface. I don't think a silicon cloth would have any abrasive quality that could modify the gouges. Maybe it could fill them in, thus creating a different appearance. But I would think that if you used a solvent (any gun solvent would probably work) and a tooth brush to clean out the gouges it may return to it's previous look.

Now, if you used something more abrasive that has rounded the peaks off of the gouges you may not be able to undo that. ;P

I'm no expert and that's just my 2 cents worth - maybe less . . .

Do I neeed to do any preping or just buy the sandpaper and start in motion. I got the shine back up by using vinager to remove all the different polish's I have on there. I then bought expensive polish from Germany and it brought back some of the shine and gave it a bead finsh. The contrast is kind of nice. I bought a wired brush and followed the grain but the project failed. It still deosn't look like aluminum when it came. Some may like it better with the bead polish.

Sandpaper tonight! Thanks Michigun.

MIchigin,

I spent hours on this darn slide. I first cleaned all existing exotic wax products off with vinigar. I had heard that this works. I began sanding in the same direction as the frame of the gun(just straight lines)but the brush lines were there but the shine had not come back. Eventually after an hour or so it did. This is when I realized that there was no contrast between the slide and the frame.

I didn't like that when I got the gun either. The entire gun is "brushed aluminum looking one way. This is when I used a mild abrasive/polish to get the lines out and began again but this time on an angle and with the exotic polish from Germany. The top remains matte so i don't get any reflection when aiming with the sights. This new loook gave it an amazing shiney look that is brushed stainless but sort of beaded. too. I think this is from sanding in a certain polish that contains vaseline in it and now it picks up colors in the light. It truely looks amazing. When the light hits it, it's wonderful. I then finshed it off with a light coat of polish that contains a bit of petrolium in it and polished the barrel.

It truely looks amazing and like an expensive professional job. by the time I bought everything, it was that expensive. Pics are coming soon.

Patman:

Sometimes it's tough to get a good photo with digital cameras if the subject has both bright and dark colors (bright frame and dark grips). It's sometimes easier to place an object in the photo that is about half-way in between; a penny or something else without to much dark or bright and focus the camera on that. Natural light also works well but not direct sunlight. So a sunlighted room is good but not directly in front of the window.
Hope this is some help,
Phil

That is not stanless you're looking at my friend. that is a teflon coating that alters the matte slide. My Mk9 looks like a mirror. Precisely reflects like a mirror. You can see every little pimple or freckle in the frame or slide. You can't ever get it that way with the matte finish. You have to start with a non-matte finish. Fine sandpaper only gives you scratch's. My mirrored Kahrs have no scratch marks because when I got that deep I buffed ou the scratch marks. That is when the metal cleaner and simichrome come in. There are different kinds of polishing and mine took a 100 man hours and looks spectacular. Profmoriarty has his the same but we both started with Elites where they don't put a thick layer of teflon coating amongst other layers. The matte slide you can get it to shine like a waxed car but not into a chrome miror. Mine looks identical to hard chrome.

Haven't posted here in a very long time, so long in fact that I had to think for a minute to remember my password. JWM's post, though, required major kudos.

Now, THAT, sir, is an ensemble of equipment used by a man who appreciates function over form, and who is self-assured enough that his sense of self worth is not tied to what icon appears on the front of his golf shirt (Yes, Trojans are a major brand name, but since they also function well, I'm assuming that you bought them because they work and not for the fancy package).

You and I could swap britches and find the pockets full of the same stuff, provided of course that the cig is a Marlboro, another heavy brand name but, of course, also the finest cigarette in the world.

Best,
Jon

P.S. - Oh, and I've got a K9 too, and I love it. It's beat to hell and back and it still goes. I don't carry it much any more, though. My Springfield Micro .45 takes up almost as little room, so I carry the Kahr only when I'm in jeans or dress slacks.

Well JWM, we all know what the rubber is for & I think it’s safe to assume that the single cigarette is for after its use, but how does the Kahr fit in there? Is that how you get to use the rubber & the cig in the 1st place? ;N (You know, with those car keys & that kind of cash you surely have another option for finding a lady… heck, just pull up to that corner, wave just one of those bills & you’ll have your pick of a few ladies I’m sure!!! ;f)

To quote a popular country song on the radio now - "The looks-decent wagon didn't pass me by." So thank the good Lord I've never needed guns or money to enjoy the company of nice women, because I've never had too much of either - always seems to be enough to be happy. ;)

Gear that rides together doesn't necessarily mean it's for the same mission! What's that cadence from one of those 80's Viet Nam flicks? "This is my _______ , this is my gun! This is for killing, this is for fun!"

:)

Yep, and in that same vein, here's MY new "pocket pistol". New Kimber with an action job and .460 Rowland kit from Clark Custom. Man, it is beautiful, and REAL tight and slick. Haven't shot it yet though. Why? Because the gun arrived with the grip safety inoperative. On, it moves, it just doesn't do anything. Perhaps a rather obvious boo boo that might have been caught by even the most cursory function check before it left the shop? Hmmmm......

Well, I saw an opportunity to make my first post that might contribute something.

I am a recent escapee to the USA from the putrid rotting hell-hole that is often referred to as "The United Kingdom". Having had my property stolen from me by the UK government back in 1998, I then sought to leave UK shores and move to a somewhat less socialist, screwed up and restrictive land. The USA fits the bill well :)

Being "in tech", California was good for opportunities, but too expensive and restrictive, but I got lucky and found work in Oregon a few years ago and finally got my green card after having been on the ubiquitous H1B work visa. I have started rebuilding my collection and re-honing my shooting skills. Although I'll never be a match for Angus Hobdell and other (better) marksmen who left the UK before me.

So far we have, a Glock 17, S&W 686, Browning Hi-Power, Browning Buckmark, HK P7M8 (My wife bought me that one as a surprise) and a Kahr TP9 which is my wife's first handgun ever. Not bad for less than six months. Glad there is no one-gun-a-month rule here!

My wife has "freakishly small hands" such that she cannot even reach well, or operate, the trigger on a J-Frame, so the Kahr has provided a wonderful solution. I liked the T9, but she prefers the slimmer P9 frame. I see more Kahrs on the horizon as my wife and I intend to get our CHL's as soon as practicable.

Here is the collection:

http://img251.imageshack.us/img251/9089/collection5go.th.jpg (http://img251.imageshack.us/my.php?image=collection5go.jpg)

Glock 17 and TP9 side by side:

http://img251.imageshack.us/img251/3627/17andtp92or.th.jpg (http://img251.imageshack.us/my.php?image=17andtp92or.jpg)

http://img251.imageshack.us/img251/5199/endview4zr.th.jpg (http://img251.imageshack.us/my.php?image=endview4zr.jpg)

An finally the TP9 in my "medium" hands that can't really cope with a large-frame (G21) Glock:

http://img251.imageshack.us/img251/2169/tp9hands2vu.th.jpg (http://img251.imageshack.us/my.php?image=tp9hands2vu.jpg)

Emerson CQC7 or Masters of Defense (MOD) knives work well and are super durable. MOD are more $$$$ but I like the thumb disc on the Emersons better. Benchmades are not as durable but OK if you are on a budget.
