I need to know what other bases have a personal owned weapons (POW) range like Fort Carson. I will be getting PCS orders soon and I need to lock my choices with branch. Any good ranges in Tacoma, Washington area? I am thinking of heading that way...

Army all the way!

BRAGG has 'em. But they don't let LEGS in. ;f

Ft Lewis has Trap and Skeet ranges that were refurbished a couple years ago. They are open every day. They also open a Rifle range for public use on weekends for rifle & pistol shooters.

Ft Irwin also has ranges, but it's been a while since I shot on them.

Ft Leonard Wood has Trap & Skeet daily (new machines this year) and opens a range for rifle shooters on the weekend.

Ft. Campbell has a really nice one. At least twelve years ago, they did.

Ft. Benning does, as does Ft. Bragg

Ft Stewart has one. Cost is $4 for the day. They also supply the targets.

Ft. Sill, Oklahoma does too. 100 meter rifle and 25m pistol.

Cheers!

Reminds me of the 20/20 show they did while I was at Bragg.

Opens up with Sawyer (I think it was her) standing at the sign on Bragg Blvd leading onto post.....her opening line?

We have a 300 meter POW range and a skeet range here at Ft Riley, KS.

If I remember correctly, after the troops got back from Desert Storm, the shoppette on Gruber Rd got into the Guiness book of world records for the most alcohol sold in a 24 hour time period.

FT. Sam Houston used to have a pistol/rifle range a few years back. Was pretty good and well maintain.

If I recall I think Ft Huachuca had a range for personal use also when I was there 89-91.

Ft Belvoir, VA has an indoor pistol range that allows privately owned weapons, or they did in the mid to late 90s. The bad thing is that's the ONLY range they have, so M-16 qualifying was done indoors with 22 adapters ;g ;5

They do. I shot there many times in 1995.

You can shoot at Ft Lewis..but noooooo double taps or rapid fire.

..In the Tacoma area?,...hit the www.uspsa site. Look for the state club finder and enter WA..there are quite a few in the AO.

Good shooting.

Thanks for the good laugh. A truer statement has never been made.

Ft. Lewis has two or three different POW ranges. Also, Bullseye off of Portland Ave in DT Tacoma is mighty fine for me. You just gotta register your weapon(s) w/ the MP's

But do they have an "Enemy Combatant Range"? ;e

Ft. Hood has one big range area for rifles & pistols. Nice, but watch out for the fire ants.
The "Rod & Bottle" had a good trap/skeet setup when I was there last... (been a few years) and my buddy that's stationed there doesn't shotgun.
Ft. Hood also has several private ranges within 2 hours drive.

Yeah Ft. Sam had a nice one for pistol and rifle(I think), also you could drive out to camp Bullis, and if there was no training that day they would let you use the ranges. Head out N.W. MIlitary Drive, 20+ miles past CW Anderson Loop. When its open that have a nice little Canteen for sodas and food. Last time I was there was for C4 in early 1987. Might have changed a lot since then.
