I am gathering information about the CETME G3 clone by century in consideration of a purchase.

Aim Surplus has them in black synthetic stock for $289 and I'm looking for some feed back. I love the FAL I have shot a couple but I don't know much about the CETME.
http://www.aimsurplus.com/acatalog/Synthetic_Stock_CETME_G3__308_Rifle.html there is a link to the gun

The CETME and G3 are two different rifles, though similar. I'd get the G3 of the two I prefer the design. I've owned the CETME. They are solid rifles, well built, but the G3 has a better mag release and sights.

They both kick harder than the FAL due to the operational system I think, but not much more (being a straight line design, it's negligibly more, but it is there).

Some Century Cetmes and G3s have had problems, but mine was fine. Put 120 rounds through it in one day without a hiccup.

Did you click the link? Can you tell me which one that is? I like the price but I may just spend the money and get a good FAL instead.

The one pictured is the CETME. The CETME and G3 are nearly identical, after WW2 some of the German gun designers went to Spain. They took work they'd already been doing and some new work and turned it into the CETME for the Spanish Army. When Germany finally began rearming, the CETME, with some modifications (rotary drum rear sight, paddle "AK" type magazine release, that's about it) was taken into service in Germany, although the G3 uses the roller locking delayed blowback system, and I can't remember if the CETME does as well...... Some of the first G3s were actually marked Made in Spain from what I've heard. Both are solidly built rifles in design, it's Century Arms that occasionally screws up. Granted, I haven't seen a screwed up one yet, but they do exist.

Other than that, they're nearly identical. I've heard CETMEs can use G3 mags, but I've never tried it.

If you already have an FAL, you might want one just for variety! They are fun to shoot, and at 100m to 200m (the longest range I had available) they hit right on.

i like my cetme. i had to file up the inside of the mag well some to get it to fit the magazines properly. now it will feed the cetme mags and G3 mags. you can buy those for about $3.

i also like my R1A1. it's the perfect battle rifle.

The Cetme uses the exact same operating system the G3 uses....delayed blowback using rollers to lock the bolt into place and a fluted chamber to "float" the brass and make it easier to eject.
Don't plan on reloading for this rifle, don't plan on using commercial ammo (mil-surp diet only) and don't let anyone (except possibly your mother-in-law or a Democrat) sit to your immediate right as it tends to throw the brass out 15-20 feet and with enough force to cause damage to soft tissue.....so perhaps a Dem would be ok since they're so thick skulled. ;f

Yeah you have to watch it at the range. People get pretty pissed off about getting hit. I saw a fal stick an empty casing in piece of wood. (shooting under a covered area)
