Many K40 shooters here? Does this thing have the awfulest recoil? I think it's as heavy as my G20 but the full house 10mm is cake compared to this K40 beast. A couple of guys I know that shoot only 1911's have tried it out and all said "No fun, No fun at all!" I don't think it's so bad that it's not fun but it's got some kick to it, more than I would have thought for a very solid all metal gun.

I don't find the recoil bad from my K40, I shoot 100 rounds though it in a session and I'm looking for more.

I did replace the stock recoil spring with a Wolff 22 lb recoil spring, I'm not sure if that makes a difference in felt recoil though.

I think the K40 has a realtively tame recoil. There is some muzzel flip. Comparing a compact 40S&W to a full size 1911 is like comparing apples and oranges though.

Same thoughts here.

I bought a K40 as my 3rd handgun back in early 2001 and found the recoil fairly mild. My worst decision was to trade it in for a P40. Not that the P40 is bad, but I should have waited so I could have both. Both of them are/were the most reliable pistols I have had.

Now OTOH, the P40 has conciderable recoil and muzzle flip. I could normally only fire about 100 rds at a time before the hand starts to tingle a little bit. I finally solved this by installing a Harrts Recoil Reducer.

I'd describe the K40 recoil as "snappy". Not a great deal of force, but definitely alot of muzzle rise. I found that adding a Houge Handall made a considerable difference in controlability.
