Just finding out who owns and shoots a Mauser K98k or Yugo M48 rifle?

I have an Israeli 7.62Nato version, made by FN in Belgium, and fire it regularly, my standard plinking rifle, accurate out to 300m with iron sights.

Has a pristine replacement Israeli Beechwood stock,(like an M48 with cupped buttplate and disassembly hole at bottom of buttplate) and a matching bolt (a rarity in milsurp rifles)

My standard ammo is either handloded 155gr Sierra Palma MatctKings @ 2700fps or standard milball 147gr FMJBT

The rifle is capable of 1.5" 3shot groups @ 100m, and 4" @ 200m

The trigger is still standard, a heavy 6lbs but release is crisp and acceptable.

Unfortunately/fortunatley, the previous owner had the action drilled and tapped, amd the bolt handle bent back slightly.

The barrel appears to have been made in Israel in 1961, as it has Hebrew markings on.

In the 90's I was big into Mausers. I still have a few german K98ks left. My favorite is a Mauser, it is also the most accurate. I have a Weimar production and a Bruenner Waffenwerke with wintertrigger.

They are my plinkers and I try to keep all shots on 9" paper plates at 100 yards, standing, free hand. It usually works - unless I have a hang fire, or personal hick-up.

i have a mauser model 98 it was a bring back my grandfather took it from a german soldier its just about mint the bore is original as is all the wood on the top of the chamber its marked 44 and just above that it has a (dou) stamp although i have never shot it my father has and said it shoots pretty good i have toyed around the idea of sporterizing it but due to the fact that 6 months after my grandfather got the rifle he was killed in germany i will probably just leave it the way it is in his honor
its nice as a wall hanger.
besides with the prices the way they are i could probably buy one that is all shot out and covert/sporterize that one

My father has a WW1-issue Gewehr 98 kb (full size rifle, longer than the Kar 98) made in 1918, never issued (war ended) and never issued in WW2 (they had enough othe Mausers)...... nice shooter.

I have something of a Mauser at least! A Spainish FR-8 which is a short carbine based on a 1943 8mm Mauser action but chambered for 7.62 NATO.

First time at the range got me a 6" 5shot group at 100yrds. The rifle is certainly capable of better, but I'm still trying to get used to iron sites and the long heavy military double trigger.

At the moment I'm almost done refinishing the stock and putting the final touches on a "no-drill, no harm" red-dot sight setup on the rifle. Hopefully Thursday will bring a better range report and pictures as well!

1937 K98
M48 Mauser

I love my K98, it shoots dead on.
The M48 high and to the left

I also have FR-8, the sights are a little funky and the action is not so smooth, but it shoots good.
