View Full Version : DW not so well?

I was just on the 1911Forum a few minutes ago and it was posted by one of the members (Scubie02) that it was his understanding that DW is having some issues. Don't know if this is true. But, earlier, Dave Pruitt, the designer for the DW PMDP model, pretty much gave me the same understanding. Time will tell if Scubie02 is accurate with his information. Hopefully, someone will be able to determine whether his post is fact or internet fiction.

Regards,
Sam

You can get a really nice job for about 500.00, their site looks like about 250.00 of that though.

Scubie02......has deleted his original posts for fear of the messenger getting shot I think is how he put it. Now I'm really curious about what is going on. Really strange.

I wouldn't worry about DW, after all, they have 'great' customer service, that happens when you have a lot of practice, and they also have experience with going belly up, it may just be a natural course for them over there. I'm sure all will be fine. ;)

Bob Serva's reply on 1911forum:

"The gun industry is always full of rumors and I have found most to be a waist of time and a drawback to the industry itself. You all know the old saying "We have found the enemy and it is us". Well some of this is true. I have worked in the gun industry for a good portion of my life and one thing that I have seen is that even some of the Gun loving types are just as damaging to the industry and our gun rights as the Anti-gun side themselves. They must sit back and laugh at our ignorance and the way some of us damage the very thing we are trying to save for future generation.

There are many types of people; you can divide them up into 3 groups, Minuses (-), dividers(/) and Pluses(+++). Though we have many minuses and dividers among us, what keeps me coming back are the Pluses. There are a lot of Pluses, people everyday that make a sincere effort to help Dan Wesson and your freedoms everyday. We have many individuals who help us on this Forum, set-up and maintenance of our new web site, new product testing, safety training at our plant, writing test articles, and many other functions that improve Dan Wesson, our industry and strengthen our Firearms rights everyday. I thank God for these Folks and their dedication to us all as a whole. So, before one starts to spread foolish rumors one should think of which of the above groups he or she belongs in.

Our factory is open daily from 6:00 am to 5:00 pm on weekdays and from 6:00 am to 12:00 noon on Saturdays.

Our public Outlet center is open 4:00pm to 7:00 pm Monday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday, Saturday 9:00 am - 3:00 pm and Sunday's 10:00 am to 2:00pm.

So if you would like to visit give us a call.

Thanks you all,

Well, Scubie02 must be feeling lower than a bee's knees right now. As Critter has said....everything sounds like it's just fine. So rather than continue with Scubie02's post, I'll delete it also.

Hey guys, you know how it is, someone goes out, buys a brand X pistol and has a problem with it.. next thing you know, brand X pistols are crap, not worth owning, too expensive, constantly breaking at abc competitions.. etc, etc...

The reality is, every custom smith and every company out there building guns, custom, semi custom or production will have a problem somewhere, sometime. It's not a perfect world.. Visit the Kimber threads, or Springfield threads, or Les Baer or whatever and you'll see what I mean..

The bottom line is, we all have our preferences, likes and dislikes, and that's cool. We just need to remember that our experience may not be the same as someone else's, and none of us are the end all, know it all, total complete source of what's right and wrong on subject of 1911's.

I don't own a DW 1911 as of yet, but just the same I wish them all the best and much success!! The way I see it, the more firearms companies that are making 1911's that are willing to stand behind their product, the better it'll be for all of us.

Good shooting people.. and good luck to everyone at Dan Wesson..

I'll second that. The more firearms companies the better it is for consumers. Glad that's put to rest.

I hope this is correct... I have called many times today, at various extensions over there, and no one is answering the phones. I hope they are doing well, because I'm planning to get a Razorback. It's the only production 10mm 1911 there is right now, and that's exactly what I want. I hope that the current ressurgence of 10mm will induce Kimber to bring theirs back. DW, I wish you the best, and I want to be your customer. This post is not meant to spread any rumors; I know what Bob is saying about how rumors run around on the web. I'm just posting what my experience was today. I hope to have a follow-up report soon that says something like "I talked to them and ordered my Razorback and I'm about to take it to the range."

I finally got through to someone on the phone over there. It sounds like they are very busy because I had to call many times over two days before anyone answered. I won't read anything into it and will just take what Bob posted as being the true story.

I did send Bob a request for a quote on a customization of one of their guns. It's going to be fantastic. I'm looking forward to getting it.

Our collaborative solution with the executives at Dan Wesson Firearms focused on customer service and product information delivery. To date our developers have logged over 200 hours of coding and database architecture. The principles at Dan Wesson Firearms are very forward thinking individuals in their approach to modular Web design. In the future this will allow the Dan Wesson Company to manage the system on their own with out any intervention from a developer.

New Features:

Database driven On-line product catalog system with detailed specifications for each model (currently we are limited in the amount of high resolution photography that is available to us) in a few weeks we should have more available.

Ad rotation management system (you may notice these through out the site) small ads for client products.

Automated Retail Dealer promotion system (this does require dealers to create an account) after that it gives them access to mange their own profile. Dealers also have access to the list of distributors for Dan Wesson Products. Please encourage your dealers to sign up, it is FREE advertising.

Monthly News Letter with details about new products and services, a gunsmith corner with service tips and tricks. Links to all of the customer service features as they become available.

News and Events section of the site will host information pertaining to current press and media events, and a variety of other items the company would like to share with the public.

Real time F.A.Q. management system with customer intervention access points.
A new faster (RDMS) backend eCommerce store for Dan Wesson Direct (will be online by end of week). More products will be available over the next few weeks.

Future Enhancements:

Automated warranty and trouble ticket interface: This will give customers the ability to generate and expedite a request from the Dan Wesson Website. Customer may login to their account and view what stage their product is in during warranty repair or service related repair.

Thank you for your time
