The models that the Cal. DOJ recently approved are .40 S&W Kahrs, but neither one of the new approved ones appear to be the PM40. I've been looking for the PM40 to be Cal. legal for a while too. We can only hope and wait.

You're absolutely right. I saw the Kahr P40 on the newly approved list and mistook that for the PM40. I apologize for the incorrect information.

No sweat. I've been looking for the pm40 to be Cal legal ever since I held one in a gun shop in Scottsdale, AZ. It had a really nice trigger pull for a DA semiauto. I was also blown away by the size and weight. I've heard mixed reviews on it though. I've heard that the small/light frame isn't really enough to support the pressures generated by the .40 ammo.

Well there's always the PM9. I've been happy with mine. Loaded with +P hollowpoints it can still be an effective yet small defensive pistol. I had my MK40 before the PM9 and at the time I chose to go with the better ballistics with one fewer cartridge.

The MK40 is a snappy little bugger, mangageable but snappy. For the lighter weight polymer frame the 9mm is pretty compelling as the better choice.
