Hi guys,

I want a full size lightweight 1911. I'm trying to choose between the Kimber Custom CDP and the Sprigfield Armory 5" Lightweight, Bi-Tone. I have a Series I Kimber with the steel frame and like it a lot. I've never seen a Springfield. I don't like the Kimber Series II safety, so the Springfield has an edge there. I've read good and bad about both of them. Does the CDP have the loaded chamber slot cut into it? This seems like a really stupid idea to me. Which should I pick? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

For what it's worth, I had two differant SA Bi-tones about two
months apart last fall. Both were great looking, shooting guns
and I loved the weight reduction. I did have one problem that led
me to get rid of them. Actually, had the same problem with both guns.
I loved them so much I replaced one with the other thinking first
time was just a fluke. Both guns wore thru the black finish on the
frame to bare metal on the Lh side of the dust cover about an inch
and a half long after being carried a very short time. I'm talking
less than 12 hours carry time over three to four days, only being
taken in and out of the holster a few times. I know this was only
a cosmetic problem, but I let it get to me. Other than that, SA
makes a great gun.

There is a wait of a few months....................but it's worth it.
