Well today I got to finally take my new TLE to the range. First off I changed out the stock rubber grips. I really dislike these. They seemed to get rather slick rater quickly. I replaced them with a set of Kimber Rosewood grips. I like these better. The trigger on this gun was a little heavier than on my 25ht anniversary Custom. It was closer to the trigger on my Tac Pro (which I got rid of to finance the TLE). The slide to frame fit is tight, Really, really tight. I was pleasently surprised in this aspect. Next to my Custom built springer, this is the tightest fitted 1911 I have yet handled. There is no side to side or up and down play in the gun at all. I fired a total of 200 rnds today. I fired 150 rnds of WWB 230gr ball ammo, 20 rnds of 185gr Corbon +p ammo, and 30 rnds of Winchester 230gr Ranger SXT's. I had Zero malfunctions of any kind. This is the first Kimber I have owned that has been flawless out of the box (so far anyways  ). Both of my previuos two kimbers required a break in period and had problems immediatley. Those guns though were perfect once brocken in. The +p Corbon ammo had quite a bit of recoil and alot of muzle falsh even in broad day light. I will not use this stuff again. It was very accurate, but I do not believe it has enough benifits to deal with the greater recoil. With every thig else this gun was a pleasure to shoot. With all the extra weight up front the gun was very quick back on target and had very little recoil. Accuracy was pretty good not quite as good as my other two 1911's but acceptable none the less. I may just be used to the better triggers of my other two guns, but I averaged about 2.5" groups at 10 yrds. Over all I liked the gun and if it remains trouble free, it will make a nice new home defense gun. Over all I give it a big thumbs up. :)

The Kimber Custom is a much better 1911 then your Springer.

I am sorry, but you do not know what you are talking about. ;)
My springer shoots circles around every Kimber I have ever shot. It was custom built by a local smith. There is no movement in the slide to frame fit when in battery. Lock up is super tight. This is the only gun I have ever shot which I can shoot less than 1" groups with. The trigger is absoloutley perfect. There is no way to compare a real custom built gun to a Factory pistol. YMMV

If spending a lot of money on a {custom} makes you feel it's better or think your shooting better then great. Many others agree a factory Kimber custom shoots great groups and it's really how good the shooter shoots the gun that really counts. You bought the custom after having that {custom} so I am sure I am not telling you anything you don't already know or understand.:) Anyway happy shooting the new Kimber Custom.

In my humble opinion, both Springfield and Kimber make great 1911's. I can assure you that in a fire fight, you will not notice the little bit of difference in accuracy one may have over the other. ;?

Crash....it's posts like yours that make me feel better about just having plucked down almost a grand on my new Kimber....Do you think my MIM parts will make it through the first mag? ;)

Congrats on the Kimber! I really like mine, but had/have to tune the slide lock a bit. Seems that the rounds sometimes cause the slide to lock back.

Once that is fixed, I hope to get to shooting it more in Limited 10!!

I also have a Springfield GI .45, that I really like as well, 100% reliable out of the box, works great, accuracy in my hands is okay, but I am not used to the shorter trigger, I guess.
