I guess we all have different definitions of quality. That one sure took a lot of work to make, though...

It is indeed a fine piece of work, but what use is it if you can't enjoy it. That is strictly my opinion though, not knocking fine firearms. :)

The thing is... How would you know if it is quality or not? Is it accurate, reliable, good trigger etc? Maybe. But I doubt anyone really knows -- it could be a beautifully engraved Norinco for all we know, unless someone shoots it and can tell us...

That's the most ugly pistol I’ve ever seen, what's art to someone is trash to someone else. What good is a pistol that you can’t touch without jeweler’s gloves on, can't enjoy it by using it for what it was meant for, shooting? No stories behind how your son or daughter almost had the front site hit them in the forehead when they became aware of how much more recoil it has then the .22 you were training them on. Is anyone going to remember this gun after having no interaction with it, no its no more then a picture in a book. Pistols were meant to be used, not looked at.

Nothings more beautiful then a 1911A1 with Walnut grips so worn their black in color, It appears to be a dull nickel finish but as you look closer you see that its just that their is not a trace of the parkized finish left on the gun. Someone tells you that the pistol was used in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam when it was finally taken out of service because it’s so badly worn you can’t print a group at 15 yards. It then hits how many of the 2-3 generations of American fighting men has this pistol saved, how many stories are being told around this pistol? I real work of art.

It would be the perfect pistol for eddie -C as he never gets to the range anymore..... and never has to clean a gun..... poor guy...;)

I would agree with you on this one every time.... what a sad waste of metal that could have been out having adventures and saving someone from boredom or bad guys....

Like what the original poster said, it's in a museum; it's not meant to be used but to be appreciated by gun owners who happen to visit the museum. That's its raison d'etre.

It's now nothing more than a canvass depicting the thrill of a buffalo hunt none of us may never experience. I'll appreciate seeing it up close. Maybe the collective admiration it'll receive throughout the years to come may be a work well spent for the person who engraved and finished that pistol. It's, in a way, a tribute to us 1911 owners.

And no, I don't think it's ugly.
