All I can say is WOW! I am so impressed with the way this gun shoots. I started at the 15yd targets and had one ragged hole about 1" in diameter. At 25yd targets, one hole about 1.5" and one flyer(either flinched or ammo) I was using Winchester 230gr. white box 100pack for these tests. I also had some Taurus 185gr Copper Expander bullets and some Speer Gold dot 185gr hollow points. It fed flawlessly, not even one hiccup! I didn't get any flyers from the hollow points at all but the groups did spread out a little. I put all 100rds of the winchester through it and 20 each of the hollow points. The muzzle area of the gun showed some darkening from the powder burning and the fiber optic sight got dirty but stayed pretty bright though. I will attach some pics of the gun after returning from the range. I cleaned it with Break-free CLP on my desk at work. Pretty good job to have when you can do that huh?

I changed grips to the other ones that came with the gun just to see what it looked like. Which one's do you think I should use?

Nice gun and review.

How does the aluminum frame feel/balance in recoil? I've never fired one in a 5" 1911, only the "dinky" ones. :)

Good luck.

Well for the price one pays for that pistol it better feed and shoot what you paid for it.

Funny that you have to pay a kings ransom now these days for pistols to do what they were meant to do.
(This is a rhetorical statement not every pistol has this problem)

Shoot and feed ammo.

Is that to much to ask?

Well only at 1k and above it's not ;)

This is funny as if it was a Duplicate of a Robby Leatham's Pistol, that would mean that an UN NAMED Arizona Pistol Smith did the modifications on the pistol. Not the S/A Custom Shop.

As there is a Pistol Smith in the Valley of the Sun that does most of Letham’s work on Leatham’s Personal Guns, and Competition Guns.

$2,900 Bucks appear to be a High Price from anything from Springfield Armory, or maybe you bought the $1,299.00 Model.

Is the Frame Stamped Brazil???

I bought the $1299 model but only paid $1050 for it at Jim's Guns in Coal Run Ohio. It is the TGO3 model, no akapennypincher, it doesn't have made in brazil on the frame. The recoil was a little snappier than say a 70 series gold cup, but it is very controllable. Overall I am very happy with my investment. It also came with a certificate of authenticity, an autographed picture of Robbie and a "thank you" letter for purchasing the gun. All three were actually signed by Robbie himself. Proof being that I met him at a competition in PA that my brother-in-law was competing in about 2 years ago. He got an autograph from him then and his autograph is a dead-on match with my three. This gun is worth every penny in my book. Oh by the way, Jim has another one that he will sell for the same price if someone is interested. Keep the replies coming....I will have another report for you as soon as I can get to the range again.

Nice Gat!

I'd keep the black grips on it.

I think I will leave the back ones on for concealed carry so if my shirt comes up it won't "scream" at someone.

Shot at a match with it last Sunday and it really amazed me even more.
I was hitting the steel plates at 35+yds one right after another. The only thing that bothered me was I am used to the 17rd mags in my Glock. The 7 rd mags tend to run empty a lot faster so more mag changes were needed. Now to get some Wilson 10rd mags....

Nice pistol! Sounds like an accurate bugger too. I like the looks of the wood grips, but it's a personal choice. Before I shot with smooth grips I didn't think they would grip as well, but once I tried them I found that they work fine with a checkered front strap.

Although you might just want to keep the special grips in good shape.
