I bought a Forbus ankle holster for my model 30, all was good until I walked a couple of miles wearing it. It was painful, I have never had this problem with a Glaco ankle holster for my model 26, which by the way I carry with a model 19 15 round magazine.

Has any body had success with an ankle holster for the model 30 and if yes, then what brand.

Anything bigger than a J-frame or Mini Glock's going to give you serious pain walking a couple miles as an ankle rig!

You might want to try the Bootlock ankle holster (I believe they make one for the 30) though they're made for 8" cop boots. They hold up well and you can run with the holster and it stays on (it's laced to the boot).

Gould & Goodrich makes it, www.actiongear.com and www.galls.com both carry it.

Trash it... There is only one ankle rig to use and that is a alessi.
I have/had a box of them and the only ones I keep are alessi. Put it over your sock and then another over the holster. Unless you sit with your feet propped up people wont notice. When I first got into law enforcement I went to a training conferance and Masaad Ayoob was there. I asked him about ankle rigs and he told me something I did and never forgot. He said unload the gun and put it in the ankle rig. Wear it 24 hors a day for a week and you will forget you have it on. I did and though I dont wear one daily now if I were to start I would do it again. I have been asked by others that said they could not carry all the time for that week I advised them to get an ankle weight for that time.

I have Alessi ankle holsters for my G36 and G23 and they both work great!

How do you guys ankle carry? Inside left leg if you are right/strong sided?

Meaning put feet apart, maybe left foot stepped forward a bit, reach down and forward, draw? makes sense to me...

I could think of a host of other ways to carry a BUG and would never consider my primary piece on my ankle but I live in the desert and wear shorts 9 months of the year.

I've found times when ankle carry is the only practical way. SUch as when have to wear a tee shirt, with pants that would print my pocket holster. I also like it when driving long distances, since it is easier to get to than many other carry modes, and since my left leg is not moving I have now stress on it from the gun.

I have found that a gun weighing over 20 oz. cannot stay on the ankle more than a few hours.

At first, ankle carry with the Fobus hurts, after a few days the pain will stop. This is similar to getting a pair of sunglasses that hurt the top of your ears, after a few days, the pain just stops.

I use the fobus and it works very well and is the least bulky of all the holsters I have tried.

Again, the pain will stop after a while. Soon you will be accustomed to it and won't be aware you are carrying.

I've had my G30 on my ankle all day in a DeSantis Apache holster, and it is still on and doesn't bother me at all. The thinner PM9 was much better in my smartcarry today while carrying the G30 this way.
