View Full Version : Any 1911's that eject to the left? Slide purchase option?

Just curious if there are any 1911's (or uppers/slides) that eject to the left. I have a gifted left handed shooter friend/smith (Chevy Team Challenge, etc), and was curious if there were any like that. I mean, I 'feel' my 1911 ejects to the right, so what about something a little bit backwards?

He's a machinist so I'm sure he could pull it off if he wanted, but I suppose I am mostly curious. He also has a Colt Double Eagle in safe keeping... talk about curious there. =)

Try to find a used left-handed Randall 1911; it was a mirror-image weapon, with everything reversed.

I don't think changing-out your slide would do it; the ejector is frame-mounted, and it wouldn't facilitate ejection in the other direction.

(hmmm..."facilitate ejection in the other direction" sounds faintly Jesse-Jackson-ish)

Yep, DJ has it pegged. If he isn't bothered by the brass ejecting to the right, a standard 1911 is set up pretty well for a Southpaw. Mgazine and slide release can be manipulated with the left trigger finger, just need a good ambidextrous safety.
