I've been shopping around for a Hi-Power the last few months and came across the Browning. I also understand a few other brands exist but haven't actually seen them. Any recommendations as to which one I should consider?

Thanks- steve

The Browning and FN are the 2 that are available. I would stay away from the clones by FEG, FM and Charles Daly. Browning and FN are made by the same company, FN. The Brownings are just roll marked differently than the FN's are. FN also doesn't have any finish options like the Browning does. The one good thing is that the FN can be bought for about $100 cheaper than the Browning marked Hi Power.
For resale value I think I would go with the rowning marked Hi Power, especially the one in Silver Chrome. I have been wanting one of those for a LONG time.

The FN MK III's are the way to go,but don't hesitate in looking at the Arcus 94 and FEJ PJK's,I have both and they are excellent buys.

I have a very late model Browning that I really like. It is the standard model, deep blue with wood grips and adjustable sights. It is beautiful gun. It is not a safe queen, but it goes only to the range in a sheepskin rug. It is an accurate, natural pointing shooter. I like BHP's best as range guns or for the night stand. For carry I prefer one of my glocks.

For the money a FEG PJK9 is the best buy. It's an exact copy of the FN/Browning gun, is accurate, very reliable, and can be had in the $250 range.

I vote for the real deal, the Browning. I have the practical model (two-tone finish) with adjustable sights and it's the best shooting gun I've shot that hasn't been extensively modified.

WW2 Inglis in good shape: $450-$550

internal extractor. Redesigned hammer that wont bite. Lanyard Ring on handle. small safety (best for me)

What ever you buy don’t buy Argentine Guns, they have them in the Shotgun News all the time, they are real junk, have big problem with soft metal. Also they skip a lot of machine steps that change the look of the gun.

You really should just save the Money and Buy one Made by Browning or FN. go to gunsamerica, gunbroker, and auctionarms and you can find them for around 450-500 in nice shape. I've seen all the others and none come close to Brownings quality. Also stay away from Charles Daly guns like their the plague, they have serious issues with skipping machining steeps, their guns look great on the out side but on the inside they look like a 12 year old did the fitting and machining. Finding someone who has good experience with Charles Daly is few and far between.

make sure you get the real hi power single action 9mm not the hip power by FN in double action .the triger guard looks more sqarish(sig like)naturaly the browning HP is the way to go in 9mm not 40 cal, blue, they look so sweet.

I have a Browning High-Power Mark 3 and love it. Very accurate.

After about 200 it gets very dirty. You will need to clean this gun virtually every time you use it.

It is one of the best looking guns too. I try to keep it away from my Glock so they don't get jealous.

It dosnt stop working after 200 rounds does it? My MK2 Inglis runs until I need to clean it, and thats been around 50-1000 rounds.

I do get board watching TV, so I always bust out my pistols and clean them during some movie....

I doesn't stop shooting. It just starts having a lot more feed issues after about 200 rounds.

I used to have one of the Arcus pistols a while back, wish I would have never sold it now. It was a good gun, shot point of aim, never had a malfunction of any sort in over 3,000 rounds. IF you don't want to spend a fortune, thats the way to go. Plus, it has nice grips and the sights are dove tailed so you can install night sights much easier
But..a good friend bought one of the Charles Daly Hi-Powers, and I am VERY impressed with this gun..good finish, night sights (although they are the "big dot" type)and its just a very smooth operating pistol overall. Price is not bad either..Right now that is the path I am thinking about taking to get a hi-power!
