Whith most of the gfolks responding giving the thumbs up I bought the Kimber Ultra Carry. First off the workmanship of the gun seems top rate. It's one good looking gun. So I got it home and gave it a thorough cleaning. Then I lubed it up with Tetra grease and headed for the range. I took 100 rounds of
Winchester White Box and 100 rounds of Blazer. First off the gun absolutely shocked me in two area's. Accuracy and felt recoil. At 12 yards it put all the rounds into one hole on a B-27 target. I had always heard Kimbers were accurate but out of a little gun like this I was very impressed (and so were the folks around me). Next the recoil was not bad at all. Far less than my G-27. I did have two failures to extract. Both with the Winchester ammo. The failure's were the same each time. The round in the chamber was not extracted and the next round had moved forward trying to feed. BTW, I'm using Wilson 47 OXC mags. They've worked the best or me.
Next session 100 rounds of PMC and 50 rounds of Blazer. Had one failure to extract. Same problem as mentioned above. I am hoping it is just the advertised "break-in period" problems. Funny thing is it eats the Blazer all day and night with no problems. Also this is one of the newer models with the external extractors. Anyways I'm going to shoot a hundred more rounds through it today. Hope the failures to feed disappear. This will become my carry gun when the problems are worked out. It's that good.
p.s. yes I'm cleaning it after every range session.

never had the first problem with my ulta carry.its alot tighter and feels better made than my colts but it also has zero loss in reliablity..maby yours is just too tight and will need to be broken in.

I doubt it Redwinger. As of today I was past the 600 round mark (been off work the past week and have had alot of time to shoot). Anyways I called Kimber and they directed me to the Custom Shop. I talked to Dennis and explained the problem in detail. He said it was an extractor problem. Had me ship the gun back. He said they would fix it and have it back to me soon. Only part I don't like is I had to pay for shipping ($39.00, ouch). To their credit Springfield Arms, S&W, and other major companies I have dealt with have paid for shipping on any new gun I've had to send back with problems. They said they would send me a couple of free mags to make up for it. Anyways it was at about 98%. But as a carry gun it obviously has to be 100%. Still really like the gun though. Super accurate, and really sharp gun. Funny I've had to send alot of new guns back for work right out of the box lately. Just bad luck or is quality control slipping in general in the industry?

My KImber SS ultra Carry II is as accurate as yours, but more reliable - no FTE or FTF but one after 250 rounds when the pistol was dirty.
