Anybody seen, held, or shot one of these new Kimbers? If so, what are your impressions. They look like a gun that just made my "must have" list.

I have one with a few add on goodies:)A S&A stainless one piece magwell, a extended kings ejector, and a set of houge grips.
The gun is GREAT!!! VERY accurate, nice look, feel, balance and came with my favorate night sights and front strap checkering for when I feel like putting my wood grips on the gun....It also had a fantastic trigger out of the box that measured 3.4lbs (got lucky there:)).
Nothing I dont like about the gun.

Nice, but, I don't like the sound of the loaded-chamber-indicator things. Those things contribute little if anything to safety (the four rules are all you need to be safe) and it's more stuff that's non-standard and can go wrong. I'm going to get a 1911 before those start becoming standard features.

construction of the pistol. When a round is in the chamber the extractor sticks out just a bit more then if there is no round in the chamber, about 1/16th of an inch. Kimber is just marketing this "sidefect" of this particular system as a safety feature.
The real debate is between an external extractor or an internal extractor, as John Browning meant it to be. ;)

Its a "loaded chamber indicator" very similar to a glocks newer extractor...It just sticks out a bit less than the glocks and dosent have the funky bump like the glocks does.
As far as the extractor going external...Well no more tuning the extractor is a good thing;)

They are really nice pistols. Very well made, great trigger. I wish there wasn't so much MIM parts but I've learned to live with it and haven't had any problems. I have read alot of bad things about Kimbers customer service but have never needed to use it myself. Definelty get the stiailess over the Black Oxide TLE II.
