Does anyone know why my 1911 does this? As you can see, it doesn't do it to the same degree every time.

I just built this 1911 from parts, and first the extractor was too tight and caused failure-to-feed a couple times per mag, so I adjusted that. Now it feeds properly, but it now does this.

Ideas?

Thanks.

Check the surrounding area of your ejection port (inside and out) for brass markings. Also inspect the chamber mouth of your barrel. Most likely the brass is hitting something while it gets flung out during ejection.

My gun used to do this. When I tinkered the ejector it stopped. However, my brass now have dent marks in the middle of the case. But since it works, I've left it alone.

looks like the brass is hitting the edge of the ejection port on the slide.
Having the ejection flared, as the pic below shows, would fix the problem.

I am sending it to Brad at CCR to get night sights, dehorn, lower and flare the ejection port and get him to re-finish it.

I'll post some current pics tomorrow...

That'll fix it.
