I picked this up last week...my first M1911. Have not taken it out and tried it out yet, but it sure feels right!!

I had tried out a friends Auto-Ordnance & it seemed to be a real...let's say "challenge"...it had FTF & FTE issues. After a LOT of reading & asking questions it seemed to me to be the thing to do was to get a Colt to start with & maybe branch out to other brands after I get more comfortable with the platform.

I'd change out the trigger and hammer for standards ones. WWII-style for life!

beautiful. i have one just like it with the older rollmark. you know the sort of ugly COLT 1991 on the slide and the matte blue finish. carry it everyday. by the way that is box stock hammer, trigger and grip safety on a commander

Cool..I prefer the commander style hammers...and as I look upon my 4 1911's I don't have any commander style hammers. Two with military stock and the other two with the skeletonized.

Hmmm...I'll have to fix that!
