View Full Version : I just made a very strange discovery about Windows
I created a new folder, then tried to rename it PRN, which windows for some reason would not allow.
I tried this on 2 of my Windows 2000 machines with the same result, and my friend got the same on his XP Pro box.
Any explaination for this strange problem?
Same thing here on XP Home..
in the old days a ".prn" file was a printer file or printer-related - wonder if that's why?
The "PRN" is a system device. It's legacy code in the OS.
nothing new. it's been the same since the age of DOS!
try making a new folder called "LPT1" :)
That was a strange way for me to find this out ;i
I was even using the command prompt to check for hidden folders and whatnot.
