I have a 2nd gen G22 (made in 1990). I'm looking into ordering a 3rd gen frame. Will the upper from the oldder G22 slap on to it with no problem? I wouldn't think there would be, but I thought I might check in case there is an upgrade I need to get that I don't know about.

It should exchange w/o problems. I have heard that GLOCK will exchange new 3rd generation frames for older frames for $150, but I think you must send the entire pistol to them and obey fed and local laws regarding the return of a technically "new" pistol to you (since the frame is the weapon, according to law).

Is there a particular reason as to why you would want to keep your slide? My suggestion would be to sell your pistol and purchase a new G22 or find a trade for your older pistol to a new one. Around here, $150 is usually more than enough to trade an older, used GLOCK to a new one.

Just my $.02. Good luck w/ your decision.

I want to keep all of my old one (matching serials) as it was made in 1990, the year the G22 came out. It has some collectors value, to me if anything. That and it was the first gun I ever bought.

Glockmeister will sell you a complete frame (and internals) if you do the trade (much like Glock will). They will also sell you a frame without the trade if you have and FFL. My local FFL friend said he would do the transfer for me. I want to have the 3rd gen frame on hand as an extra, prob with my old slide on it most of the time. I'll eventually get a dedicated slide for it.
