Wow, what are your production facilities like? Are you gunna be able to keep up with demand esp. after you release your other calibers?

I know the bullet is expensive, but the Barnes X-Bullet looks promising, would you consider using it in the future?

MCNETT

We've havd to move once already this year to expand! We will keep up, all of the equipment that we use is the best. The XPB bullet is a good 10mm bullet, but peaks the pressure too fast in .40's to get decent velocity.

Cool Mike :)

Cant wait till you role out your nine line ;)

Any rifle lines in the future??? ;f

EDIT: Just got email from your news thingie and you said that this round is 6k psi under SAAMI max. How come you decided to do this? Wouldnt it get some more velocity if you went to the max pressure?

MCNETT, please tell me you're going to offer some .45 caliber loads. Obviously .45acp, but please .45 Super and .45GAP.;f

MCNETT
07-27-2004, 12:25
Once the .45 machine is in, it will be a no-brainer to move up the power scale and incorporate some .450SMC loadings.

The 180gr Gold Dot @ 1050fps from a Glock 27!
The 165gr Gold Dot @ 1125fps from a Glock 27!

How do these velocities compare with Speer's factory GD loads in short barrels?

MCNETT
07-29-2004, 23:55
About 120-150fps faster in my testing!

Well, you've given me a reason to not trade my G27 for a G36

I don't get to shoot much, so I have to use up 200 rounds of Ranger and 200 rounds of GDHP before I place my first order - please don't think any slow initial sales are due to lack of interest, but some of us need to use up our supply before we stock up on the new stuff :)

McNett- Have you tested these from long barrels yet? Maybe G22? Just curious, I don't have a 27:)

5000ft 87F Oehler 43 10' from muzzle:
G20 UMC 180gr FMC - 1117fps
G20 Georgia Arms 180gr FMJ reloads - 1073fps
G20 Goergia Arms 180gr GDHP - 1124fps

Compared against:
G22 DoubleTap 180gr GDHP - 1118fps!
G22 DoubleTap 165gr GDHP - 1204fps!

Similar sized guns with the same weight factory ammo. I know that these 10mm loads aren't the hottest ones out there (low-mid level), but an interesting test nontheless.

I know many like to refer to the 40 as short and week, but from what I've seen it does what it was designed to do (personal defense) very well (its my personal favorite). There are are already many fine 40 rounds on the market and its nice to see Double Tap come out with theirs, especially those for use in the compacts like the G27.

The 10mm is a great round if you like a big gun and like to hunt provided you buy ammo like Double Tap but as the figures show, in many other loadings its just a 40 in a bigger gun.

Thanks McNett for your work in both calibers.

Mike, maybe this has been discussed previously. If so, I apologize. I noticed that you are not loading the 135's in 40S&W. Curious as to why. I like the 155/165 grainers for colder weather carry, but still like the 135's for summer. Thanks.

We will do a run of 135gr. loads at a substantial velocity soon. ;c

Why the jump from 135 to 165gr? Don't the 135 tend to break apart/fragment and not penetrate well? Why not somehting in-between to replicate a 145gr 357 mag silver tip or 158gr 347 mag? Barnes all copper bullets come in 140gr, seems like a good projectile.

Mr. Mcnett those pictures of expanded rounds are really nice but do you have the penetration numbers? When I get around to buying a g22 those loads are definately a must get.

I totally agree with the above statement. Why no 145-150 gr. loads out there. Seems to me like a good mix that few have explored.

Corbon is the only one. Maybe Mike could make a run with the Sierra 150's? You could ask and he'll let you know either way.

If there is enough demand, we will produce it. That being said, there is little difference between the 155gr and 165gr ballistics.

I was thinking you could push a 155gr past 1250fps, right?

Wonder how that would perform...

MCNETT
08-11-2004, 01:23
Yes we could, from a G22 sized weapon. From the same sized weapon, our 165gr loading goes 1200+fps. There will be little difference between the 155gr @ 1250fps and 165gr @ 1200fps.

Don't the 135 tend to break apart/fragment and not penetrate well? Why

That's true when pushed to full 10mm velocities, but at around 1350fps or so the 135s should perform quite well. I think the 155gr Gold Dots are the all-around best for the 10mm, but for .40 loadings I think the 135s are the best.

I can't wait to order some as soon as they are available. Thanks again, McNett!!!

Can you load these with the Ranger T bullet? If not, how about the 165gr nosler partition? I don't particularly like the gold dot bullet. thanks.
