In the news it was reported that the Weapons Systems Corporation Gun store and range was robbed and its range officer was killed by SOB's who used him for target practice.
Isn't one of the BoGs related or connected(can't remember who exactly, sorry) with this gun store.
Such a tragedy, I hope the perpetrators are caught and summarily executed.:(

Yes, that's Deenoh.

Our gunclub/indoor shooting range here at Paranaque also should take precaution over this incident.

Ah yes, Deenoh
Yes,all gun stores with ranges should take extra precautions now. The lack of Security Guards made this store an easy target for these people.

The person who was killed was a friend of mine. I used to talk to him after shooting a few rounds at the range. He was such a nice guy. I can't imagine what was going through the killer's mind that drove him to such a thing. Hope the BG gets caught soon.

The Philippine Star 07/27/2004

A male helper was killed while a gunsmith was hurt when at least six men broke into a firing range and gun store in Parañaque City the other day and carted away 50 firearms, police said yesterday.

Found dead at the firing range of the Weapon System Corp. along San Agustin street in Barangay Moonwalk at around 11:30 a.m. was Rex Dorremon, 27, a stay-in gunsmith helper of the store owned by lawyer Hector Rodriguez.

Gunsmith Zaldy Gabao, 38, who is also in charge of the firing range, was found handcuffed inside the administration office of the store.

City police chief Superintendent Ronald Estilles said Dorremon sustained multiple gunshot wounds in the body as the suspects apparently used him for target practice.

Initial investigation revealed that two men entered the firing range at around 11:45 a.m. last Sunday and posed as customers.

Gabao allowed the two to rent caliber .45 pistols and use the firing range.

While the two were shooting targets at the firing range, four other individuals entered the area, also posing as customers.

Gabao told probers that two from the group asked him to guide them to the restroom.

Estilles said that when they reached the restroom, the two men hit him on the head using the handguns they had rented.

When Gabao regained consciousness, he found himself handcuffed inside the store’s office.

He kept on shouting for help, but was only freed when the secretary and cashier arrived the next day at the store.

Probers said the suspects took from the display and storage cabinet four low-powered riffles and 46 short firearms, estimated at over P1 million.

They also took live ammunition from the stockroom before fleeing on board four motorcycles and two cars.

"This is a simple robbery case," noted Estilles as he downplayed the incident. "And they can’t easily use the firearms anyway since they don’t have firing pins."

Still, police said a thorough investigation and follow-up operation would be conducted. A cartographic sketch of one of the suspects, whom Gabao said dropped by the store to inquire about a purchase, was released by police yesterday afternoon.

I think its a bit callous for the police to call an incident wherein somebody was murdered a "simple robbery." And its also lame to say that the firearms can't be used easily since they don't have firing pins. Duh, many gun stores have firing pins in stock among their spare parts.

Anyway, my condolences to the family of your friend, deenoh. I too hope that the scumbags who did this will soon be caught and punished :(

P.S.

I'll never complain again when the guard at PB Dionisio pats me down and asks me to leave my gun at the front desk before entering the store.

deenoh,

My prayers go out for the victims, and to their families.

WSC is a good gun store.
As soon as it's up and running again, I'll try to help out via my consumer peso. I'll likely order the stuff at the WSC Ortigas office up in the City & Land building (across the street from Robinson's Galleria, Ortigas/EDSA).

What's happening to our country?
Just when you think things are starting to settle down and improve.

I pray for the victims family. Sana mahuli kaagad ang mga yun, even if most of the stolen firearms dont have firing pins, im sure those bg's can fix that problem, and besides, yung mga baril na for rent are all working guns, kaya nakakatakot. the stolen goods is enough to start a small army of bg's. Sana mahuli kaagad yung mga yun before they can get those guns to work, and i do hope they will try to slug it out with the police, so that the police will have a very good reason to end their useless lives.

Perhaps you could get a copy of the sketches and post them in this thread. The BoGs, being geographically dispersed, might just spot them somewhere and be able to alert the authorities.

Please send my condolences to the families of the victims in that incident. PNP, DILG, NAKTF, CIDG , NBI or whoever catch the BG and let them pay for their crimes.

A lesson is learned from this incident maybe the gun stores/ranges revised their procedure . Proper ID , installation of cameras and more guards .. Check out Twin Pines nakabuntot ang guards sa patrons annoying nga lang pero good practice to protect their properties and personnel.

we, M.S. Lacson Trading also send our deepest condolences to the family.

that is indeed very nad news. which makes our country's bad situation even worse. the incident which reflects the desperation of the criminals, just proves that something is wrong with the government.

we, and our branches are very much on alert. if they are targeting the firearms and ammunition, then that can only mean one thing. they are preparing for a bigger hit.

one thing comes to mind though...how did they open the vault? or was it just a steel cabinet?

NBI nabs 4 in gun shop robbery-slay
By Cecille Suerte Felipe
The Philippine Star 08/25/2004

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) arrested four of the six members of the Gatilyo Gang tagged in killing a gunsmith during a gun shop robbery in Parañaque City last month.

NBI Director Reynaldo Wycoco identified the suspects as Jose Armando Cachuela, 43, of Naic, Cavite; Benjamin Ibañez Jr., 25, of Imus, Cavite; Melvin Nabilgas, 34 of Calumpit, Bulacan; and Zaldy Gabao, 39, of Moonwalk, Parañaque City.

Two others, identified as Ariel Tibayan and Lito Dino remain at large.

Last July 25, the group robbed the Weapon System Corp. gun store and firing range located on Daang Batang street in Barangay Moonwalk. Gunsmith Rex Dorimon, 27, was killed during the heist.

Wycoco said Cachuela was the alleged leader of the gang while Gabao, who also worked at the Weapon System Corp. served as the tipster of the group.

Wycoco said all four suspects were charged with robbery with homicide before the Parañaque City Prosecutor’s Office, which recommended no bail.

The suspects, who were presented at the NBI main office in Manila yesterday, were arrested one after the other in a series of operations in Cavite.

Operatives of the NBI-National Capital Region, headed by executive officer Roland Argabioso, also recovered six guns which the suspects allegedly stole from the gun store. The weapons include a 9mm Bernadelli pistol, a European made handgun worth P50,000 to P60,000.

The suspects allegedly took at least 50 short and long firearms with an estimated cost of P1 million from the store.

In his report to Wycoco, NBI-NCR chief Edmundo Arugay said that on July 25, Cachuela and Ibañez arrived at the gun store and fired several rounds at the shooting range, where Dorimon, a gunsmith also served as range officer.

Later, Nabilgas, Tibayan and Dino arrived and also pretended to use the shooting range. Gabao later escorted the three to the comfort room, where he was tied up to mislead authorities into thinking he was also a victim.

At the firing range, Ibañez and Cachuela shot Dorimon while the latter was setting up the paper targets. The robbers then fled with the weapons.

The robbery was discovered some 36 hours later. It took place a day before President Arroyo delivered her State of the Nation Address when police were on alert in Quezon City and Manila.

About 20 days after the robbery, the NBI-NCR received information that Nabilgas, one of the suspects, was spotted in Imus, Cavite.

After his capture, Nabilgas spilled the beans on Gabao, Cachuela, Tibayan and Dino.

Later, NBI agents learned about Ibañez participation in the robbery and he was arrested at his house in Imus, Cavite.

During the presentation, Cachuela pointed to Ibañez as the brains behind the heist.
