I've decided to get a 9mm P239 for carry but have heard a few reports of rust (not with the 239 but mostly from 228) and am wondering about the finishes it has. My 2004 catalog lists them as Nitron and Two-Tone. I assume the 2tone is a stainless slide and levers with an alloy frame but what about the Nitron finish? Is that the "blackend stainless" or something different? Is the durability the same between the two or is it just splitting hairs and mostly looks?

I live in Minnesota but will be moving to Jacksonville, Florida within the next six months so their is a rather large weather difference to consider being more rain, a LOT more humid, and the salt content in the air from being right on the atlanic. Thanks for any replies.

The 239 has a blackened stainless slide. The TT is just an extra layer of protection. Carried the basic 239 for a hot, humid summer with no rust issues.

I carry 24/7 and I used to carry a Sig 239. They are a excellent gun, as is a Glock 26 but I always carry in a IWB leather holster and the Sig will always take more maintenance time to keep it oiled and rust free. That tennifer finish on the Glock is just great, it has cut down a lot of my cleaning time. I just wish that Sig would come out with a finish like that.

I have a nitron stainless slide over alloy frame. No problems. I never oil the slide.
The only rust issues with Sig were older blued steel slides. Like Glock KB's, rusting Sig's isuues are way overblow.
