Just wanted to share a quick pic of my new firearm acquisition. It is a 1943 Izzy M38. I am very proud of it and can't wait to get to the range with it.

Nice rifle. I recently purchased two M38s from Aztec Guns. One of them I scout scoped with a Darrell's Scout Mount and an Aimpoint ML2 (using the Aimpoint as a test optic until I decide the mount is solid and get a decent IER scope).

I slugged the bore on the one I scout scoped and while it measured .313", it shoots .308 bullets amazingly accurate, so I'm having a great time handloading for it.

Have fun with your M38. Be sure to get some type of pad if you shoot milsurp ammo. The M38 sure kicks. I shot my M38s using Hungarian heavy ball and it sounded like thunder coming out of my barrells.

Thanks for the compliment! I got hooked on buying a Mosin a number of months back. My wife's cousin brought his M38 along a few months back when a bunch of us went plinkin'. I fell in love with it and have been after one ever since. I have since applied for my C&R and can't wait to grab a Nagant revolver. As far as a pad, already got it. ;) The first fodder for the rifle is Albanian Surplus that is only 147 grain. So, it shouldn't be as bad as some of the heavy ball that is out there.

Just got a 91-30 Izzy 1942 wartime reburb $80 out the door with all goodies and 100 rounds of Hun ball surplus. Shot it the other day 3" 50yds for 5 shots then 3- 5 SHOT GROUPS ON EACH PAPER PLATE at 100 yds SEMI-FAST AIMED SHOTS. ALL THE 100YDS GROUPS WERE ON THE 3 PLATES WITH 5 HITS ON EACH PLATE. NOT BAD FOR A ww-2 HASTY MADE BATTLE RIFLE. FUN TO SHOOT AND HISTORY TOO!
