TruGlo Tritium/Fiber Optic Sights
Extended Slide Release
Extended Mag Release
Backstrap Plug or "Butt Plug" as one person called it in a thread

Night sites, and more ammo for more practice.

I just got my O.D. G19. I put a Wolff guide rod and standard spring in it. Also put on a set of Meprolight Tru-Glo night sights and a butt plug in the back of the mag well. Wolff sent me a striker spring with the guide rod and guide spring. It's a much better quality than the striker spring that came with the 19. I had my gunsmith put that in too. I picked up a couple of 15 round mags and I'm ready to roll.;)

Oops, forgot about the 9mm3 followers I picked up from a member for $3.50 each. I replaced the 10 round mag follower 2183's that came with the gun.^c

Trijicon night sights (green/green), stainless recoil spring and slide (factory weight on the spring)and butt plug, two standard capacity magazines.

Multiple holsters (not a gun mod but an expense related to the gun)

I really want an extended slide release (on both my G-17 and my G-19), but just haven't done that yet. Love it on the G-37.

Meprolight Night Sights, fixed, green front / green rear.

10,000 rounds of ammunition and counting.

That's all.

ken-ken
08-03-2004, 12:03
Yeah i have 2 holsters, one is a Uncle Mike's Kydex Belt and a Fobus Belt(picked it up for 5 bucks used, just couldnt pass it up).
Also have a Uncle Mike's kydex double mag holder.

I have 4 10 rounders, needed them for IDPA, waiting till the sunset to get hi cappers.

Plus i have a big ol range bag so i can get some more guns :):) it has ammo in there and all sorts of cleaning supplies and the like.

Shot it...polished the factory internals...shot it more...

I shoot as much as i can, 10-7 shift makes it tough to get good range time in. Cant wait till school starts back up, then im done at 2, which is more like it.

Then i a year i get a real job and will be getting paid year long for full time, not just the summer.

If only shooting cost less i could do it more. Thats why im going to start reloading at the end of the summer i hope.

Yeah first thing i did after i bought my gun was ordered 2000 rounds in addition to the 300 i baught at walmart. That was only a month ago and no i have like 1100 left. :( Buying in bulk sure helps though :)

Oh yea ... also polished up the barrel with some Flitz metal polish. Looks great!

ken-ken
08-03-2004, 14:49
The whole barrel? Whats it look like? Got a Pick? Did it take off the finish?

engineer151515
08-03-2004, 15:17
Yes. The whole barrel. Very easy to do. Looks like a stainless barrel (aftermarket). This is my G-37 but the G-19 looks just the same.

Do you like that a lot better, and is there more upkeep on that.

Any downsides to polishing it.

I have only polished the feed ramp to make it supper smooth.

Maybe ill do the whole barrel dont like the wear marks.

Bought new G19 7/19, on 7/20 sent it to Robar for Grip reduction, NP3 finish and XS sights 24/7. Delivery date is 9/02. I'am going to get about 1000 rounds, and a couple of holsters. I can't wait to shoot it.
Anyone have any experience with Robar? 24/7 Sights? Curious on opinions.

Grip reduction? On a Glock 19?Man you must have some small hands.;z

J57
08-03-2004, 16:53
Unfortunately my hands are small. The old style Glock frame is better.
I recently shot a G19 with a grip reduction and it was very comfortable, it also had 24/7 sights.

Eddie C.
08-03-2004, 17:07
J57, Robar does great work from what I've heard. I put a lot of money into Glocks before and got raped when I went to sell them for something else. If you are putting that kind of money into it make sure you're going to keep it.

I had the chrome slides and titanium this and that. Well this time I just did the Guide rod and springs. The night sights are a must on any gun that you plan on carrying.

The 24/7 sights are great for defense work. I wouldn't plan on becoming too proficient on targets or for IDPA with them though. From here to there, about 10 to 25 feet, most defensive shoots, they will be tough to beat. Good luck with the Robarized G19. It should be a keeper.

I have an OD G19 with Meps, Glock 3 1/2# connector, THE extended magazine release, Glock extended slide release, smooth trigger, and of course a plug.

cl147
08-03-2004, 21:26
Other than Night Sights, a G17 (smooth) trigger is the only modification I could bring myself to add to a carry gun.

I will admit to considering the idea of NP3ing a Glock slide. I like the two-tone look, but I can't bring myself to do anything to my Glocks. Maybe I can find a cheap used G19 to try my experiment...:)

No real downsides. Barrel is not going to rust.

When I polished my G-17 and G-19 barrels, the shiny surface has a line pattern, which I attribute to cutting machine marks. I had not noticed those lines when the barrels were black. The G-37 barrel shined up as smooth as a mirror. Whether the lines appear or not may be a function of how sharp the cutting blade was that day during initial manufacture.

Having polished all three Glocks about 4 months ago, I have not once regretted it. In fact, when I see new Glocks with black barrels, I don't think they look as nice. Personal preference.

I bought my G19 the day I turned 21 back in 2001. I bought a few standard capacity magazines, a set of Meprolights in green, a Galco ultimate second ammendment tuckable holster, and a surefire E2Defender.

I also have a G26, with pierce +0's, stock other than that. I plan on adding green Meprolights to the G26, and when I get the G23 and G20 I have my eye on, they will get orange, and yellow meprolights, respectively, the idea being to be able to tell the caliber of the weapon in the dark. Considering some kind of luminous magazine marking as well, to match.

the line is "16 in the clip and one in the hole" and it's from a warren g/nate dogg song called Regulate.

I had the following items installed by a certified Glock Armorer:

1. green/yellow Meprolights ($69 shipped from the Glock-Doc in AZ- received them in three days- great guy, so here's a free plug) www.glock-doc.com

2. Glock factory extended slide stop lever

3. maritime spring cups (the armorer supplied and installed them for free, so I said what the hell)

that's all you need for a carry gun, in my opinion...

Actually, I've bored you all with my G19 modifications on another thread, but I'll list them here too. We want to make sure the G19 listing stays, don't we?
Harrts recoil rod/spring, Trijicon night sights, and recently a Jentra plug.
To repeat my reasons for hugging, squeezing, and loving my G19 as I do; simplicity and reliability. I can have it broken down and put back together while I'm still cursing my 1911 apart. I traded a boat anchor in (S/W 5906)for the G19 on one day in 1994, and the very next day shot a 98 on my police re-qualification course. Right out of the box, no practice time. Cleaned/oiled it the first night, re-qualified the very next day. I'm certainly not bragging on my meager talents, rather the accuracy and "pointability" of this fine pistol. That was the beginning of an eventual 11,000 flawless rounds. Need I say more?
Oh yes, I will. I once hated these "plastic thangs." That was until Glock came to the sheriff department's range in B'ham, AL where I policed. I witnessed them throw a G17 off from the 10th or so floor of a nearby fire training tower, then (no lie here either)chain the same pistol to a P/U truck tire and run over it, then dunk it in the lake to get the mud off, throw it against a concrete wall to dry it, and........give a quick spray of Breakfree before proceeding to fire 100 rounds, flawlessly, through the pistol as fast as the trigger could be squeezed and magazines changed out. After that they sold the pistol to a deputy for $100.00. He carried it on duty for as long as I worked there. Then came the armorer's school and toolkit, a manual and punch. What a well made weapon.
IF I can get my Colt 380 sold the G26 will be the next one up. Hope it works as well as the G19.

You do realize the extended magazine release is not legal according to IDPA's rules?

All the other mods you listed, including the extended slide STOP, are legal.

You are correct. The G34 has a factory extended magazine release I have never been called on the G34 in a match because it is stock. If you change the G34's out and put it in the G19 is it legal?

Extended slide stops are legal, because they are a factory option on other than P/T Glocks, per the IDPA rule book.

Mine is a work in progress that I intend to replace my P228 as a daily carry gun with...

-Frame mod.
I very slightly undercut the triggerguard at an angle so it doesn't punish the knuckle on my middle finger. It is only noticeable from the right side and you'd have to really be looking.

-Polished barrel and internals.

-Modified (lightened)factory recoil spring by clipping a few coils off and polishing.

-Race Cut Heinie Slant Pro sights from Custom Glock Racing

-Fobus holster

-A boat load of LE 15rd mags. ;)

-Glock factory 3.5# connector

-THE stainless captured guide rod from Custom Glock Racing

I also am considering some sort of grip, like skate tape or A-Grip because when my skin feels really dry in the Winter, the Glock doesn't feel as secure in the hand.

Oh yeah...I've also got an alessi bodyguard on order and the wait is killin' me. :)

On my G19 and 26 I have:
Trijicon night sites
Jentra plugs
Stainless recoil guide rods.
Cut away a little on the bottom of the trigger guards - easier on my middle finger.
Going to get Arotek titanium strikers (the local gun shop owner has them on his glocks and showed me how it improves the trigger pull).
Keeping the 5.5 trigger cause I like it better.
Also replace some of the mag followers with 9mm3 - I hope the new 15 rd. mags have the new followers.

Replaced Frame
Installed 3.5 lb. connector
Installed smooth trigger
Installed extended slide release
Installed Trijicon/Novak night sights
Polished Feed Ramp
Polished internals
Dremel-ed the trigger safety bar to conform to the curve of the trigger.
Applied an A-Grip

The new connector and internal polishing reduced the trigger pull to 4 lbs. 11.3 ozs. measured.

Yup. The RTO was WAGging the distances for the target setups, when I pointed out the yard markers on the overhead target rails. Awarded me an extra point on the spot to go with my two perfect qualifiers, hence the 121 out of a possible 120 score.
