We now have our club. What better way to celebrate than with a thread singing the praises of the best Glock model there is, the G19.

The G19 is quickly becoming my favorite pistol. I have had about all there is to have as far pistols go, High end 1911's, Custom HiPower's, P7M8's, you name it and I've probably had one. The G19 just seem's to work for me. I shoot it quite well so I'm not concerned with the "inferior caliber". I did install a 3.5# Ghost connector, and Heine Slantpro's. polished up some of the internals, and added a Wolf recoil spring. It's never missed a beat, and is very accurate. What else can I say, except I'm in the market for another. ;c

Keep it up guys.

I've got a G27 and a G29...my first 9mm was a Kahr PM9.

This G19 is sounding really nice.

The G19 was my first Glock and has been flawless to date. I bought it used from a local pawnshop in 1995. It is my second favorite out of all my handguns. Conceals very easily IWB or OWB. Very accurate out the box. Mine actually shoots tighter groups then its bigger brothers G17 and G34.

Because:

• It’s accurate
• It’s reliable
• It’s fun to shoot
• Ammo is affordable
• It’s a Glock

19 is my first, and most beloved.. I bought a used 17 shortly after my 19 purchase, but my 19 is the one that stays loaded tucked ever so slightly between the mattress' as a backup to my k9 security system... It also gets the most exercise at the range....

Can't go wrong with a Boxer/G19 combo!!!^c

Except when your boxer is only 5 months old and 23lbs.... not very intimidating, no matter how fierce she tries to be!

The first gun I bought when I turned legal. Got it brand spankin' new. Twelve years later, it's still spittin' lead and chuckin' brass w\the factory 15rd mags it came with! Only parts I've replaced are the mag springs. Only mod I've done is the $.25 polish job and only did that this year!;f

G19 will always have a special place in my guns safe. First Glock I bought. Got it for the wife because she had tried one in her CCW class and liked it.

I'd been a dyed in the wool Glock hater/1911 carrying fool till I tried that g19.

Now the 1911's are all gone and I'm looking for my 3rd Glock.

My 11 year old son has started shooting the G19 and will soon be shooting in IPSC compeition with it.

Grew up shooting 1911's and other assorted heavy guns. Did not believe in the plastic. Could not think of no "real" safety. Laughed at the passing fad.

Bought one on a whim. LOVE IT. Gets thew most range time of all my stuff. Never has missed a beat, JHP, hardball, in doors out doors through doors. Used it instead of my Kahr to pass CHL. Stays by my bed every night and with me as often as it can be done. Best feeling Gun I've shot.

My one niner is the only gun I've actually got to own, after shooting .22LR to 155mm. It's comfortable to shoot and to carry in an anti-gun environment. Nuff said.

I love my G19. A gun designed for function, not form. And yet, they somehow made it look so simple and bad@$$, and so tactical. Check out my thread "my G19". I talk more about mine there. I'd appreciate some replies.

nothing to really add, funny how like the others, i too was a 1911 only guy. At one point, my handgun collection consisted of 2 1911s, 1 BHP, and a Ruger Mk2. After acquiring my 19 a few years ago, this has become my 'primary.' Gone are the BHP and one 1911. My other would be gone too...but it was my FIRST gun, so nostalgia (and the recent retune by Don Williams) makes me keep it.

I took this pistol thru the Tactical Speed Shooting course offered by Andy Stanford. I put almost 900 rounds thru it in a weekend, and only had 3 problems, one of which was operator error.

14 + 1 on tap, with another 15 in the pocket ain't bad either ;)

Greetings,

I picked up a second hand 2nd gen about a year and a half ago. I previously had a G22 and after an AD with it in my bedroom getting ready to go to the range, swore off Glocks.....didn't make a good impression with the wife either. My shooting buddy has a 2nd gen G23 and when he first got it, I thought it recoiled excessively and was painful to shoot. Not accurate either. For whatever reason I saw the one I have now priced at $385 at the range I often frequent and decided ok, I'll give Glock another try. My other handguns include an SA 1911 Loaded, HK USP45F ( my all time fave), Sig 226 & 225, Beretta 92, etc..... None of these guns feel like a Glock. I knew it would take work to get the feel of the gun down and build the muscle memory on how to effectively work the trigger. The difference in shooting it is the trigger. With the other pistols I have, using single action, it's a slow build up of pressure at the break point and then..wham!!! the gun goes off. With the G19, I find it's best to sweep the entire length of the trigger pull in one continuous motion. I usually bring 2 pistols to the range, and more often than not, the G19 is always there. I'm really starting to enjoy this handgun. Whereas with the USP, I can get 5 round groups at 15 yards into 1" - 1 1/2", with the G19 I'm still in the 3" range. But it's getting better. This is a gun I must master. It is an ideal gun. Excellent size efficiency, high capacity, reliability, reasonable accuracy ( for me anyway), and low weight.

I started with single action .22's and graduated to a single action .41 Mag in '82. I was armed for 11 years in the Air Force with a .38 S&W Combat Masterpiece and it served me well. I went through mega amounts of auto's and wheel guns over 35 years. I really didn't want a gun that looked like it was carved from a bar of soap. I was at a friends shop and he had just taken back a G19 3rd generation that a guy had purchased that day and fired only one magazine (10 rounds). He wanted his .45 back that he had traded-in. I was offered the gun for $400 out-the-door with 2 magazines and the remaining 40 rounds in the box. Had the money and thought I'd re-sell and make a few bucks. I then went and shot it, BIG MISTAKE! It fired over 1500 full power hollow point rounds without a problem in the first month and is always in the Fobus paddle holster on my strong side. It hits what I shoot at, is 100% reliable, and doesn't weigh me down. I reload and 9mm is CHEAP to shoot. I love that little "carved from a bar of soap" gun. I have lots of rifles and HAD lots of handguns but my G19 is the only handgun in my house now. Now I'm primed to buy a bunch of hi cap mags in 2 weeks as I wouldn't pay the $85 gougers price. I can't say enough good things about this little black gun.......Mike

This is my second 9mm pistol, the first being a 1944 manufactured Walther P-38 made near Berlin. The P-38 is a good shooter, but somehow it seems like a WW-II pistol.

The 19, on the other hand, is a really nice pistol. I got over the no safety issue after a while when I convinced myself that it's not any different than the Smith Model 28 .357 that I own. It don't have no safety, neither.

Can anyone tell me which generation G19 I have? I bought it a few years ago and have no idea. The Serial prefix is APV, followed by three low digits and US.

Keep 'em in the X-ring.

I picked up my first Glock, the 36, to coincide with my CCW. It carried great, but was a nightmare to shoot at the range, it bucked, it kicked, I dreaded pulling it out of my bag to shoot. Maybe I was just pampered by my 1911, so I went out and got a 21 as well. Man, I hated that gun, I don't know why, I didn't like the way it shot, its comparative accuracy, even the look of it seemed non-glocky. It was short lived and I traded 'up' for a USPc in .45. Now I had two polymer guns, basically the same size, both in .45, and one really outshone the other at the range (the HK). Doing a lot of research, I was going to give Glock my last chance. This Monday I traded 'up' again, this time my weird, little 36 for my new 19. I immediately put a box of ammo through it there at the store, and I knew instantly what I had been missing this whole time. It was, not to be corny, a thing of beauty. Accurate, smooth, simple, I am in love with this gun, and it's not even a week old. Saturday I am really going to put some brass thorugh it on an outdoor range and can't wait. I wish I had done my homework better a couple of years back and not gone the 36 route and just went with a 19 this whole time, I was too hung up on caliber, it could have saved me some cash (and frustration). Right on, that's why I love my (brand new) G19.

Hi guys! I have a G26, but not a 19 yet, so I'm kinda barging into your discussion here. I was going to buy a 19 last month, had to have a root canal instead, boy I did weigh that decision heavily. Hmmm, Glock vs. keeping my teeth...Well, I still have my teeth, but no G19. I have shot my boyfriend's, however, and have been lusting for my own for quite some time now. Soon. I am enjoying your threads here, hope to interact more in the future!

Bought mine 3 yrs ago and have approx. 10,000 rounds with only mag problems; FTF on those damn 10 rounders. It eats 90, 115, 124, 125, 127, 135, and 147 grains with ease. For the most part, I carry 147's.

I like the size efficiency, high-capacity, good velocity output with pretty much all 9mm ammo, accuracy, good concealability, and it's light-weight, even with 16 147's riding along. The G19 is just a good all around every-day, all-day, go pretty much anywhere CCW dream gun. And it's a fun target pistol as well.

I'll be adding at least one more G19 to my arsenal in the near future...gotta have a backup. I also predict that, due to the AWB sunset, their popularity will increase with both new and experienced firearms enthusiasts.

I posted briefly before but gots to chime in on this one.

My G26 has been my primary carry for several years now. BHP was my house gun. I wanted a G19 to replace the BHP and just got it about 3 weeks ago(only 1 range session with it so far).

The 19 IS all it's cracked up to be. Only problem is that I tend to carry it instead of the 26(maybe 'cause it's new, maybe not).

To make matters worse, I got a grip extender so I can use the 19 mags in the 26(feels like a 19?).

I'm so confused!!!!!

SgtKabar - According to my incomplete serial # list you have a 2nd generation G-19. The G19 before yours (ANL) is a 2nd generation and the G19 after it (BFC) is a 2nd. The 3rd generation G19s seem to start in the C's. Hope this helps.

I love my G19 because:

Accurate
Reliable
Light weight
Has excellent pointability
Carries 15+1 rounds of my favorite 147 grain Rangers
Has a consistant trigger pull
Light recoiling
I can repair it myself if a part breaks (which isn't common)
Has a flat profile for easy carry
It's not maintenance sensitive
Inexpensive to shoot
Didn't need expensive customization to make it work properly

It goes bang every time.
Perfect ergs and pointability at handgun ranges.
It conceals well. (Brommeland IWB or belt slide)
It doesn't rust if I'm out in the boonies for a few days sweating all over it like a freak.
I carry it every day and now have an emotional attachment to it.

I've had three G19's in the past few years. I guess it's an old story, but each time I sold or traded one, I ended up with a gun I never liked as much. Ive made myself a promise that I'm keeping this new one I just bought as a primary, and carrying my well worn 642 revolver as a back up or light carry gun. I'm resolving myself to the fact that I've wasted so much money taking beatings on my trades for new guns that I never liked as much or shot as well. The only money that goes into my firearms anymore is for ammo and range time.

hey everyone,

Man, been through lots of different handguns HK's, Smith's, Glocks, Sigs, ect. the G19 is the one i always go back to. great size, ergonomics, and loaded with some lethal JHP's you cant beat the G19 for everyday carry. I carry a G22 on duty but i will soon carry my G19 when i qualify. ;b i wont spend anymore money on handguns. I love my 19 and i will stick with it!!!;W ;W next on my list is a good AR-15 rifle. stay safe.

I traded a P229 safe weight for a G19 with 5 HiCaps (even though I could get HiCaps through work) on a even up trade. I never shot or carried the 229 so to me, this was a worthwhile trade. Oh, a big influence on the trade was the fact that the gun was rollstamped "Boston P.D.", which I thought was pretty cool. Maybe not to others, but to me it was cool.
I shoot this gun much better than my Duty Gun, a G17, I don't know why. (I also shoot my 26 better than my G17...)
Love my 19. With 16 rounds of Gold Dot 124+p, I don't feel undergunned at all, unless I run up against a tank...
