Hey guys... I have a question.

I have a G19 (3rd Gen), and it has the 24/7 XS Big Dot night sights, and the NP3 Finish by Robar, and 5 10-round mags, and 1 15-round mag and 3 holsters.

Got a pretty good deal on it. But my question is this... at 7 yards I am dead on... no problems... at 15 yards Im all over the target. At 25 yards you would be pretty safe if I were shooting at you.

What gives? At 15-25 yards with other pistols I have I have no problems. Is this normal for a G19? OR is it the 24/7 sights... I have to admit Im not a big fan of them.

Before I go spend 100 dollars on new sights I would like to know your experiences with this model of pistol's accuracy and especially if you have ever used these types of sights.

Thanks in advance.

I'm no expert, however I had a set of 24/7 sights on a Glock. They were made for close range. I did'nt do very well past 15 yards with these sight's. I switched em out for Heine SlantPro's and my shooting improved alot. YMMV ;c

I agree.
The24/7s are outstanding for close-up work but not for anything beyond 10-15yd.

What are good overall sights? I'm in the market to buy some nights in the next month or so.

I've been VERY happy with Meprolight sights. I have them on the three Glocks I carry.

I'll parrot what's already been said. The Express-style sights are great up close, but terrible for any type of distance.

Ditto on the Mepros. Ditch the Big Dot sights unless you just want to shoot up close and personal.

I prefer Trijicons but what the hell do I know...

Bear, no offense, but i can't imagine that degree of variance from so short a distance being an issue with the G19. I'd have someone else shoot it for reference. I watched Andy Stanford using a 2nd gen G19 with XS sights, hitting a tight group off hand at 25 yards.

I've read an account or two in gun magazines about these sights, where the writer observed that group size grew "generously" as the target distance increased. It is entirely possible that some individuals, with sufficient practice, may be able to overcome the obvious limitations of this sighting arrangement for distance shooting. Whether the XS sight is worth the effort is for each shooter to decide. As for me, I'll take Mepros, thank you!

No offence taken. ;)
