I am looking for inexpensive web hosting. Currently I am using Hasweb. Their rate is $35/year for 500 megs of space. I have had some issues with them that make me wonder if I should switch to a different web hosting. Anyone have suggestions for reliable and inexpensive web hosting?

I'm using Hasweb as well. $89.99 a year (they raised it to 99.99 but my fee is recurring) for 5000mb of storage and 100gb of transfer per month.

Yes I have had some problems in the past, but, the only problem was recent problem is that the FTP wasnt working. Since they upgraded their Cpanel I have had very few problems.

Their tech guys respond to tickets very quickly and generall have the problem fixed within minutes.

You might call or e-mail them and express your concerns with them about their reliability.

I'm on Jet3, which server are you on?

I'm on Jet 7. That is the server that was confiscated by the FBI leaving everyone without email for 24 hours while the FBI copied the hard drives!

I've had a number of reliability issues. It seems that Jet 7 goes down for several hours about every six weeks. It always takes the rest of the day for email to filter through after that. It is better now that they moved the server to a new physical location.

My latest problem was getting access to my webmail while out of the country. I was trying to access my webmail from internet cafes and couldn't get in. I submitted two trouble tickets and the access codes wouldn't let me check on them. (I got back to find that it didn't matter because Tech Support didn't really do anything.) I've also had a couple of pretty rude responses from Tech Support that I forwarded to the Tech Support Supervisor. I got lots of apologies over that incident. Other times, Tech Support has been very helpful and very quick.

My year ends later this month so I am looking to see if there is anything better out there.

When was this?

Here is the message they sent:

Approximately 12:00 A.M. EST Feb. 20th 2004:
We have 3 servers down which is out of our hands
unfortunately.
This is because of a scandalous crime ring that has
now been caught. http://www.gobalshare.com/
Here is a screenshot of one of their websites when
it was still active:
http://www.hostdime.com/gobalshare.pdf
They took advantage of our instant account creation
and we did not catch them in time to delete their
accounts. However, the FBI tracked down their next
locations (our servers unfortunately) and they came
in and confiscated the servers until approximately
10:00 A.M. EST, Feb 20th 2004. No data will be
touched of yours, but they needed to take the drives
to analyze all data to track them and prosecute
them. In a way, we have helped take down another
ignorant scheme on the Internet, but it is also
going to hurt both you and us. We cannot begin to
express how unfortunate this is and how so much evil
does exist, we wish this had not happened at all.
Be assured we are in direct contact with them and
cooperating to the fullest extent to get the servers
back up as soon as possible. We are also willingly
cooperating with them so these culprits get
prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
The fortunate aspect is that this is being done in
non-business hours for over 90% of our clients. Your
full cooperation is greatly appreciated. We require
that you relay this information to anyone else that
you know also on the server your account is on.
We can not express how much your cooperation in this
disaster is needed.
We sincerely thank you.
Kind Regards,
HostDime Staff

That looks way more expensive than what he currently has. Also, Haswebs servers are much faster.
