Amazing how quick one can add a turbocharger when one has to.

No, it got repaired last Fri. (7-8-05)

But I really doubt that the repair guys were professionals.........

1) They had all the parts needed, with them.

2) They had all of the necessary diagnostic tools, again, with them.

3) It only took them about 45 min. to do the job.

(here's the biggie!)

4) They showed up within 5 minutes of the appointed time !!!!!!!!!!1

Obviously, they aren't pros !!!(HAHAHAHAHAHAHA)

He's auntie's male Std. Poodle, about 28" @ shoulder & close to 70 lbs. Also, he was unpleasent because he's stuck wearing a black fur coat, in a house that didn't have AC for over a week. Maybe he's WHY they got done so fast !

Fear of being at the bottom of the food chain will do that.

O.K. it's edgemucation time kiddies.....

Poodles are NOT french ! The frogs were the first to "sissify" them as a fashion object, also to start breeding them smaller.

The breed is originally from Russia, where they were used as waterfouling dogs.
The "silly" haircuts were developed after the breed was introduced to Germany. The poodles hair retains a lot of water after he gets wet. By removing the excess from everywhere but the joints, the dog has more freedom of movement in the water, but the joints stay warmer, letting him work longer as a retreiver.
If you inspect a poodle's foot, you will find that they are webbed between the toes. This is a working dog of the first order in waterfoul hunting conditions.
The cranial cavity is larger in proportion to body size than any other breed....larger brain/smarter (usually !)dog.
The name "poodle" is from the earlier german name "pudel" which ment dog of the water;ie. to splash.
The breeds inteligence & natural inquisitivness makes training fairly easy, assuming that the handler is smarter than the dog.
What is now called a "standard", 15" or larger @ the shoulder, was a small dog by earlier references. Most were closer to 20-22" @ the shoulder, but Vlad IS a big boy, he was chosen for his size from a breeder thatspecializes in "healthy" size dogs.

He's not the largest poodle that uncle has had. My first std. was a female, also chosen for size. Melody was 30" @ shoulder & about 78 lbs. A real big girl, unfortunately, also a rather bad attitude. I was the only one who she would take commands from on a regular basis, although if I wasn't home she was extremely protective of the rest of the family.

this ends today's lesson of "poodle 101"

Originally posted by VN350X10 Towith....it is a known fact of the universe that as a .45 projectile approaches the velocity of a 10MM, it will shed diameter & become smaller, much as a meteor entering the Earth's atmosphere. Upon reaching 10MM velocity, the (formerly) .45 projectile will, in fact, be reduced to a diameter of .400"-.401", hence rendering it to BE a 10MM. No .45 projectile ever achieves this velocity without the afore mentioned happening; Therefore, in the 10-Ring, NO SUCH .45 caliber PROJECTILE EXISTS !
Yo, Unkle! The Dungeon Engineering Staff, in company with the Dungeon Theoretical Physics Crew, the Dungeon Philosophical Analysis Cadre, and the Dungeon Linguistics Team, has come up with a possible undesirable consequence derived from your otherwise marvelous analytical effort.

According to your advocacy, if a .45 projectile is hot loaded to achieve the exalted 1200fps of a 10mm (all rise, hats off, hands over hearts), then due to Einsteinian Relativistic kinematics, it shrinks down to the .401" diameter characteristic of the exalted 10mm projectile (again, all rise ... at least, those sober enough to do so.) Fair enough. But when a lowly unworthy servile punishment-bound pond-scum Dungeon type fires such a round, then he has functionally fired a 10mm round! This could create semantic and administrative problems.

If the (blah blah, etc.) Dungeon type has fired what can be considered a 10mm cartridge, then he might be considered to be a 10-Ring member, since he owns a firearm capable of firing the exalted .401 bullet at 1200fps. This could result in the following undesirable effects:

1) Overcrowding in the Penthouse and Lagoon facilities, since the (far more numerous .45-shooting) Dungeon types become eligible for full 10-Ring membership.

2) Loss of the smoothly running admin effort supporting the 10-Ring Facility, since these "relocated" people would no longer be sober enough to do admin work, even if they were still willing to!

3) A drastic decrease in the Dungeon embezzlement action, since most of our "members" would have switched sides. Before you 10-Ringers cheer this, please remember that the 39% we rip off finances all the supplementary work the various Dungeon special teams perform to enhance the aura and public image of the 10-Ring within the American firearms community. This loss, along with the previous mentioned slippage in administrative efficiency, would be a massive blow to the 10-Ring cause.

We ask the 10-Ringers' advice on this issue. Those of you sober enough to contemplate this issue should make your suggestions. But then ... if you are NOT sober enough for coherent thought, send us your thoughts anyway; they may still be useful.

hmmmm well... regarding #1, i've never been a supporter of an artificially-induced underclass simply to sustain an existing ruling class and am all for equal opportunity, even at my own inevitable inconvenience, as what raises one raises all, imho, and though the spectre of self-responsible financial management is understandably daunting, i think it would enrich us in the long term (provided the previously-embezzled funds aren't involuntarily squandered in the stock market by ad-hoc committees), HOWEVER:

the notion of a hot-rodded .45 being the equivalent of a 10mm load at the same velocity is a bit of a misnomer, because although it may claim a loophole by certain definitions of 10mm performance, it would fall short of the mark in terms of the *efficiency* of the 10mm cartridge, wasting powder and causing needless hardware complications in the Penthouse arsenal.

so i'd recommend a commendation for illustrating a potential SHTF option, but a public upbraiding for attempted undermining of core 10-Ring principles.

had you merely exibited the usual Dungeon-type insolence, you might have qualified for punishment; however, since the commendation offsets the latter, you might get just the verbal abuse, and be sent back to the dungeon with your commendation to dream of punishment lost..

politics is indeed a harsh mistress!!

susan28
07-24-2005, 19:23
wait a minute.. UNCLE brought that up.. so you not only lose the commendation but are now guilty of misrepresentation of 10-Ring wisdom and attempting to use it to influence the balance of power thru subversion of same, calling for a DOUBLE punishment the likes of which can only be properly executed by the G-Twins..

oh, you just play us like a violin, DON'T you? ..

you certainly keep us on our toes, i'll say.. but be careful, that could call for another (yawn) commendation..

On advice of counsel (as if I needed it!), I accept this plea bargain agreement. I waive any right to appeal, and will begin serving my sentence immediately. Forget parole; I will serve out the ENTIRE sentence!

VN350X10
07-24-2005, 22:41
A slight technical note here:

Since the lowly .45 projectile (wouldn't that be an amaturjectile?) doesn't start shedding diameter untill it enters the atmosphere, at such time as it is beginning it's travel, it is still in fact, a .45;
Therefore it doesn't infringe upon the 10MM on any status earned by a true 10MM.

Sorry Rabbi, you're just gonna have to work harder & more diligently to recieve the punishment you so richly want.

Perhaps a re-reading of the "tuna" posts will help.

The G-Twins can punish you when they are done punishing me...;f

As for the rest of the world all at once coming on board with the 10 Ring and its obviously superior way of life, the answer is simple, we will just keep creating 10 Ring Establishments around the world.

People say that we are going to take over the world. I say; No. We are not going to take over the world. Rather, people of the world are just going to all eventually come to see life the way we do... and the world will be a better place because of it. Crime will stop and so will psycho's. It will be Heaven on Earth.

Although, some people like to be punished... so... of course, that will continue...;f

Thus, The 10 Ring (hand over heart) will always have a dungeon at every 10 Ring Establishment, and it will always be an exciting and entertaining place.

This lowly pond-scum Dungeon Denizen announces his instant readiness to assist the exalted Penthouse types in their purchasing efforts. I will carry away their purchases, thus easing their administrative loads, and will maintain and file their charge receipts, in case they wish to return their purchases for a full refund. I see this as my duty in the 10-Ring scheme of existence ... (Rabbi! What the hell are you talking about?) ... The G-twins and Susan are on a buying spree; I am helping them ... (How do you figure them for a buying spree?) ... Look at the quote. G33 is CHARGING! ... (Rabbi, look at the CONTEXT! She is talking about "leading the charge", not "charging." i'm actually on a buying spree, or mission as it were, involving the acquisition of a Delta Elite. i recently purchaed one online with lovely finish but upon receipt discovered the sights were sans the dots, an undisclosed imperfection, and exercised my option to return it.

i then availed myself of the.. er.. availability of an unfired/untouched specimen from a seller in new mexico, and if the Rabbi would be a dear and go pick it up it would save me the postage and spare my new weapon the ravages of cross-country shipping..

G of 3, are those suicide monkeys?!!!??
Have we stooped to this to protect our existance ?

Spare the little ones; Merely equip them with a suitable 10MM & all will be well. I realise that a greater amount of training will be required, but the administrative types can afford it, as the 39% embezzelment rate is VERY profitable.
If you wish, I can personally discuss the training with the Rabbi & Mongo, to organize a training regime that will be most benificial.

humbly yours,

hey G33, read in another post you were considering a five-seven, i love mine. range, accuracy, penetrates even the most tactically-savvy BG with minimal recoil.. small holes but 20 rounds makes alot of them and that mag empties *fast* .. nice backup to the G20 for the homefront:

the 5.7 ammo situation is insane. i bought the gun pre-craziness and when the Brady chatter started i grabbed 3 cases of ss192 before FN pulled the plug. the new PC ammo hits so much lower that it's not a viable practice round and is so much slower that it's not a viable SD round, IMO..

the bright side is that it's so easy to shoot it's more forgiving of bad technique than 10mm so you might could get away with just breaking it out and using it in an emergency with the good ammo and probably have decent hit probability. they're also working on some better civvy ammo but might be waiting to see how the PLEA act goes down before releasing it.

fivesevenforum.com (http://fivesevenforum.com) is a good info source.

Susan, have you put both types of 5.7 ammo over a clock yet? It might be interesting to see the difference.
Also, a chrono will tell us what's necessary to duplicate the "good" ammo.

(bad puppy)

ss190 is government-only and is a "true" AP round, 31gr aluminum bullet w/ tungsten penetrator, around 2200fps. it goes in a few inches then tumbles. penetrates level 3 @ 100yds, crisat target etc. was never sold to public, ever. rivals G33 in stilettos.

ss192 is the "practice" round for the '190, 28gr aluminum bullet @2150fps and is technically a hollow point but is more of a ball round with a hollow cavity at the tip. says "ball" on the box. goes in a few inches then *folds in half* and cuts a diagonal path. "barrier" penetration similar to 7.62 Tok, i think a lil better. know so. like G33 in strappy sandals. both rounds penetrate a total of about 11 inches.

ss196 is the answer to the Brady hysteria after FN voluntarly pulled the fully-legal ss192 to take the heat off. 40gr V-max @ about 1600fps. will penetrate paper all day and hits so much lower than ss192 that the FsN's adjustable sight will barely click low enough to calibrate. haven't shot any but this is the word. not worthy to be mentioned in the same breath as G33 but it *does* come with brass.

ss195 is a lead-free primer version of ss192 and *isn't* restricted by FN, has been getting released but in low enough quantities to keep the price similar to scalped ss192 unless you can find a cool dealer, of which there are some, in which case it's around 25 a box, but quantities are always limited. like G33 wearing natural cosmetics.

they're now playing with, i believe, an ss197, which is a hot-loaded ss196 (40gr V-max) that will do 21-ish but it's not out yet. like G33 pushing the pressure limit on her 646 loads.

fivesevenforum.com has all the test data for all rounds from both the pistol and the carbine that you could want, reloading calculations, barrier test pics, the whole 9 .. or 5.7 as it were.. worth a look by G33 or anyone else considering the round.

I know just how you feel. Just sold the motorbike recently so I could pay baby bills. First thing on the fixit list was the back passenger window on the car. Got it fixed, two days later the other back window goes 10-7. I spent 800 bucks on those damn windows that could have gone to better things, baby bills ( had hoped to sneak a gun in there, last hurrah and all that) It is frustrating enough to make one run through the neighborhood yelling expletives at the top your lungs.:(

It appears that uncle has a few brews to catch up on. Just got back from my fav Chinese rest. in town. They were on a 2 yr hiatus due to a fire in the upstairs appts. Just re-opened yesterday......& the family is already set to go BACK on vac. They had customers hanging from the rafters.....& they were worried that their customer base would leave them HA ! FAT CHANCE !
They're busier than they were for the grand opening several yrs ago.
Anyhow, as they don't have a franchise to sell "N" Sweat Lager, uncle had to settle for "Tsing-Dau" (sp?) Excellent, dry, crisp flavor goes well with food.(buurrrppp)

and now Back to the Lagoon ! the party awaits & I'm at least a few behind. will make this up quickly.

Actually, I palmed the key ONLY to give you paranoid Penthouse Types (pardon my redundancy) something to feel good about detecting. In my capacity as 10-Ring Facility Fiduciary Agent, I could have just walked over and OPENLY picked up the key. Susan, the Dungeon Linguistics Unit is already on this one. We have established the 4K-Post Setup Party, Pre-party, party, after-party, clean-up party, recovery party, party-evaluation party, party-summarization party, financial-effects party, profit-investment party, embezzlement diversion party, brewery replenishment party, and all these parties PRECEED ANY PLANNING WHATSOEVER for the 5K-Post party preparations. Plus, there would be necessary planning for ALL the 10-Ring parties in the interval between the 4K and 5K Post parties.

Rabbi's advice: Just party. The (blah blah blah) Dungeon Types will figure out the nomenclature.

Actually, Unkle, the kegs shown are not the TASTING sample; not nearly enough volume for even a minimal tasting sample. That pitifully small number of kegs (at least, by 10-Ring standards) is the QUALITY ASSURANCE sample, a set-aside for Dungeon consumption, to ensure that the full production meets the exacting standards of the 10-Ring drinking crowd (pardon my redundancy). This is a service the Dungeon Crew provides to protect the delicate Penthouse palette from any possibility whatsoever that a less-than-optimum alcoholic beveredge ... beverege ... LIQUID might touch its collective lips. We hope you 10-Ringers truly appreciate our sacrifice to fulfill this purpose.

Actually, Unkle there IS a distinction between a TASTE test and a QUALITY ASSURANCE test; the taste test is a Penthouse prerogative, while the quality assurance test is assigned to the Dungeon Crew to prevent any untoward surprises from disorienting the Penthouse faithful who might otherwise be blindsided by the (admittedly small) probability that a substandard product might intrude on their delightfully superb state of existence. We of the Dungeon persuasion recognize our responsibility to maintain vigilence in so important an issue ... (Rabbi, it's not working.) ... What is not working? ... (Your trying to doubletalk your way out of this jam. Unkle caught you, fair and square, ripping off the 10-Ring for some prime brew!) ... I suppose you're right. I'll have to think of some other way to deflect the wrath of the Penthouse ... (Okay, glad you see the light. What do you have in mind?) ... Not sure. It has to be something that will REALLY shake up the 10-Ring thought process ... Wait. I got it! A perfect misdirection play!

IMPORTANT 10-RING FACILITY ADMINISTRATIVE ANNOUNCEMENT:

The Dung Cru will REDUCE the embezzlement rate, from 39% down to 37.2%, until Labor Day! This will supplement the 10-Ring Facility cash flow position during the important late summer period. We hope this important financial move will be noted and appreciated by the 10-Ring faithful.

Cowbells? I think not, I was making some vague reference to the blue oyster cult song "don't fear the reaper" and the Saturday Night live skit involving Christopher Walken.

If you hear cowbells, it is not myself because I do not wear a COW bell. While COWS are bovine, such as myself, I am a BULL, so the only noise that is remotely similar might be a clanking sound. If a cowbell is heard, it is most likely Mrs. Bullman (that svelte little jersey) calling to me for my nightly roll in the hay (what I am hoping for) or to help feed the little calf (the most likely reason she would be calling for me). These little ones are a lot more work than I expected. They just don't eat some times, you have to trick them into it, it is so bizarre.

Rabbi, you must check for resonant harmonics as applied to/by the recoil of a 10MM. If necessaty, KONG is avaliable for purposes of scientific testing. I believe that there might even be a couple of boxes of Norma in the vault. This would permit testing with he original intent of a true 10MM

Susan, the Dungeon Logistics Planning Team has brought an important item to my attention. Your proposed slushy molds may create a problem: You may be unable to physically lift a slushy made from the aforementioned molds! If this is in fact the case, the Dungeon Engineering Unit, led by the capable Eng15etc, can be called in to construct a servicable motor/cam assembly to achieve this action, assuming our mass/weight concerns are found to be valid. We await your feedback on this question.

susan28
08-20-2005, 15:37
well i'm all for better living (and dancing) thru technology and will happily road-test your slushy transport and give it my endorsement if it works as hoped (and i'm sure with engineer and uncle at the helm it will function wonderfully), but in the meantime, we could simply sit them on a banquet table and employ long bamboo straws culled from the Lagoon...

as always your eye for schematics has served us well!!

Given that most beer, especially Lagers, are approxamately the same specific gravity as water;that being approx. 8lbs /gal. Given that it takes 7 1/2 gallons to fill a cubic foot.....

8 x 7 1/2 = 60 lbs, plus the weight of the container, straws, etc.

And this is assuming that the new molds are only 1 cu.ft.
Thus stated, perhaps the table & straws idea bears technical merit at this time.

Evidently it is something that looks bigger than it actually is. Certainly, the material filling the mold at this time is more dense, I was thinking we would need a pretty heavy duty table to accomplish those needs.;f
