Weeeeeell, it will probably feed more reliabily in 10MM than in .40. A lot of the guys shooting LTD.10 load their .40 ammo out to 10MM length for a 1911 platform. Closer to the length of a .45, so feeding geometry is fairly close.

Unkle, this surprises me. If a 40 bullet is seated far enough out to meet 10mm or 45 OAL standards, would enough of the bullet be supported to ensure the bullet would not be pushed deeper in the casing during cycling?

Fear not, Bull. All technical consultants to any 10-Ring Facility operation fly on our exclusive charter operation, maintained by the superb Dungeon Aviation Operation flight line mechanics. We know how to PROPERLY run an airline!

With a 180 gr bullet, there is plenty of support. A tight sizing die & absolutely minimal flaring of the case mouth helps. Just one of the tricks why the guys I shoot with have minimal -to- no problems. I usually end up doing the R&D for everybodys ammo, & I don't like surprises at a match.....unless it's that I've won my division.....belive me THATS a surprise !

I appreciate the compliment, Bull; it is always pleasant for us Dungeon types to realize we have correctly anticipated the Penthouse residents' requirements. We have come to realize that the TRUE satisfaction in our Dungeon existence is NOT simply ripping off you 10-Ringers for our illicit 39% of the take. Rather, we have come to savor delivering FULL VALUE in exchange for our ill-gotten gains.

Bullman
08-23-2005, 17:47

VN350X10

Well Susan, you CAN shoot "long .40" in most 10MM pistols just fine. All it really does is crud up the front of the chamber a bit, which you don't notice untill you start shooting 10MM again & it won't let it go back fully into battery. The real reason, is to make the gun feed. Example: One of the shooters on our team has been using a G-20 as an open gun. Making powerfactor is NO problem, as all published 10MM loads with over a 135gr bullet make major. However, there is some interference on ejection & get a jam once in a while. NOT GOOD!
By changing to a KKM .40 barrel, the problem is magicly solved. BUT .40 length doesn't always feed thru a G20, as the ammo moves a lot in the magazine. By loading to 10MM length, the geometry of the ammo hitting the feed ramp is correct, & the feeding is restored. NOW, the .40 case, being about 1/10" shorter, doesn't hit & hang up on the optic mount on ejection & 100% reliability is restored. Simple in concept, but took a couple of months of head scratching, because the event happens so fast, it's hard for the (old) eyes to see.

The reason you can shoot the shorter .40 in the 10MM chamber is that the case is actually headspaced by being held up against the breech by the extractor.

Me not Rabbi; me Mongo. Rabbi extremely busy assisting on party logistics, beer feed line maintenance, and servicing the nitrogen capping system on the wine dispensing setup. Rabbi could have delegated such tasks COMPLETELY to subordinate Dungeon personnel, but Rabbi prefer to keep hand in on admin work to stay in touch with ALL considerations on administrative issues.

Rabbi ask Mongo to thank Eng15 for major Rabbi nostalgia trip. Tunnel description and picture remind Rabbi of first job him ever do for 10-Ring. When Tazz first form 10-Ring club, him throw Rabbi in (then) tiny dungeon because Rabbi no own 10mm firearm. Rabbi, of course, immediately start digging tunnel to escape from Dungeon. Partway through tunnel effort, Rabbi realize subterrainian rock/soil formations ideal for constructing underground handgun range. Rabbi change focus of project from "escape" to "creation of destination level firearm facility" - hey, Rabbi can recognize when major commercial and recreational opportunity offers itself, even though minor considerations like "imprisonment" or "confinement" seem (to less perceptive individuals) to be of primary importance. Rabbi clearly correct in his original perception years ago; ENTIRE 10-Ring Resort Facility concept can trace derivation from his original idea. Rabbi realize that new tunnel carry on his original noble tradition; of course, noble tradition now much more profitable to Rabbi than Rabbi could have imagined.

The weekend gunshow traffic was timeconsuming, but profitable. I trust the DNA Removal effort was satisfactory for everyone.

New members of 8:40PM should declare whether they are Penthouse, Dungeon, or Auxiliary status; it helps out on arranging lodging during the Lagoon blowouts. Rabbi will, of course, provide guidance for those who may be inexperienced in discerning the subtle nuances of 10-Ring Facility activities. I suggest you approach ME for advice, rather than the Penthouse Faithful; their not-quite-sober advisories usually confuse more than they inform.

I envy you your experimental status.

I will be busy on admin for a while. Due to the influx of new 8:40PM contributors, I will be running instruction sessions in "Maintaining the proper subtly nuanced level in caliber repartee", per the requirements of the Joint Penthouse/Dungeon Intercaliber Repartee Protocols, as amended during the (admittedly brief) sober interval late in the June 31st 10-Ring Board Meeting. IMPORTANT 10-RING FACILITY ADMINISTRATIVE ANNOUNCEMENT:

The lowly (blah blah etc.) Dungeon Crew has discovered a problem related to the equiping of the 10-Ring Firing Range. A significant portion of the snap-caps used for drill and instructional use by the Penthouse faithful have been found to be ... brace yourselves ... 40S&W snapcaps! Such items, while seeming to function correctly within the exalted 10mm firearms of the 10-Ring members, nevertheless demean the existence of the 10mm loyalists. The Dungeon Crew has, on its own initiative, withdrawn these demeaning 40cal items from usage by the 10-Ringers during their firearms usage, and restocked the racks with the proper 10mm snapcaps. The withdrawn snapcaps will be reserved for the common rabble 40 shooters during the times when they are allowed to sample the pleasures of discharging their sub-par caliber firearms at the sumptuous 10-Ring facility.

We hope the Penthouse types properly appreciate the Dungeon initiative in maintaining the lofty standards of the 10-Ring Resort Facility.

Well, speaking as an axuiliary technical advisor to the 10-Ring administrative hierarchy, I must say that as long as the propriatary proscess that keeps the faithful in supply of "N"Sweat Lager isn't unduely hampered, the oversight of the miscreant .40 short & weak snapcaps may well be overlooked THIS time, however, a full, detailed report in quintuplicate (NO CARBONS!) must be presented to the administrative board before the 31st of this month.
This will permit full analyasis of the failure in the logistics & supply, permiting blame to be placed where necessary.
No physical punishment is deemed necessary at this time, pending full investigation of the report, however, a reprimand may yet be forthcoming.

Item next: Do we have any confirmed sightings of Mongo &/or Arrow ? At this time, they both seem to be M.I.A., this causing no little concern to the Swedish Bikini Team. The fear is that the Dragon acquisition safari may not be going as well as planned. Any information will only be used to co-ordinate a search and rescue operation if they have in fact gotten in beyond their capabilities.

Unkle, the Dungeon Linguistics Unit, the Dungeon Security Team, and the Dungeon Semantic Subversion Crew have jointly asked me to pass along a suggestion to you about the Snap-cap investigation.

The Cat-Women AND the Lagoon Hostesses apparently have cooked up some really primo punishments for use in the Snap-cap Substitution Scandal. I think your promise to deny physical punishment to the perpetrators, while well meaning, subverts the actual will of many of the 10-Ringers involved in this "affair"; it seems that both "perpetrators" AND "enforcers" are relishing the thought of major retribution for this "oversight."

My suggestion: Switch over to some real fire-breathing rip-roaring THREATS of punishment for those involved who profaned the sacred 10-Ring ideals with this illicit use of 40S&W snapcaps. Punishment will then be administered, and the perpetrators will enjoy their punishment ... Whoops! ... I mean SUFFER THE AGONY APPROPRIATE TO THOSE WHO DEMEAN the 10-Ring doctrine!

It can also fill an otherwise slow day between Lagoon Blowouts.

You have correctly made a subtle point, Unkle. I wish to emphasize a subtle nuance of your subtle point.

Proper execution of the punishment for the Snap-Cap Subversion Scandal, while not within YOUR bailiwick, nevertheless requires a DECLARATION by your distinguished presence in order to be formally and properly implemented. We Dungeon Types can handle all the admin stuff, but protocol requires that the INITIATION and FORMAL APPROVAL of retribution be executed by Penthouse, not Dungeon, personnel. YOU must give the word; you may then lapse back into whatever activities ring your chimes this week.

Permit me the temerity to request that you give your approval at your earliest reasonable opportunity. We have a line of people at the Lagoon trying to confess to the original Snap-Cap foul-up; EVERYONE seems to want punishment for this one!

Okay, since I think your a nice lad, and even though it has probably been in the last 60 pages, I will share the story with you.

Our good Dungeon Engineer 151515 came on board and realized we were seriously lacking in one field. As Sammy would probably tell you the expenditures for libations here inside the facility were rather high as most everyone here maintains a moderate blood alcohol level, except when shooting and most of the time at the 10 ring board meetings. Engineer saw the opportunity to cut these costs by building our own brewing facility so he tunneled out a section in the dungeon, being an engineer it wasn't too difficult, and he set up a brewing complex that is the envy of anything in the commercial realm. But the real plus in our brewing process is the filtering media chosen. You have heard of Cold Filtering, Charcoal filtering (yuck) and who knows what sort of filtering they are using if any at all. Engineer was able to "obtain" several tops from G33, G29 and I would suppose he is using some of Susans now as well, to use as filtering media for the brewing process.

Now these "filters" are used tops, unwashed and that is what gives our brew that "special" flavor that you just can't find anywhere else. Having seen these tops worn by our voluptuous vixens;) I was struck the the lightening bolt of ingenuity and dubbed this brew "N*ppl* Sweat. So with Engineer's mechanical and brewing savvy, and my marketing genius, well, there you have the story about the amber ambrosia that keeps the 10 ring facility mellow and running smmmmooooooooooothhhly;e

I am sure if you bug Engineer enough, he will give you a complete tour of the facility along with the customary free samples at the end of the tour.:)

Thanks to Bullman (again) for marketing insight that started a tidal wave of success.

And special thanks to all the 10-ring ladies for the "special ingredient" that makes NS possible. Please know that demand always exceeds supply for such valuable filtration fabics. I think we can find some volunteers to collect new samples.

I've experimented with some of the original tops - used to generate mega-barrels of NS. I've found that, after drying, they still retained a measure of sweet taste. (Ahem... well, a brewmaster-engineer does have to sample for quality control, no?) We will have to perform extensive testing to determine if there are concentration differences at play between older and newer filtration media.

Can't explain why the tops don't seem to "wear out". Wonderful quality.

Something was never right, I couldn't put my finger on it though (darn lagoon girls) but it finaly came to me in a lagoon girl free night last night. We don't have a cigar bar, this may be expected of some place like the unspeakables down below, but a highly refined group should have every luxury easily available for its members. While a cigar panel of 10 ring members could easily aquire the finest samples from most lands due to unfair legislation we won't be able to obtain some from the fair land of cuba so eassily. Hence I suggest while the bar is being built, and stocked that we send dear Mongo on a 90 mile swim to illicitly smuggle us back the widest selection he can liberate from the dear communists down south. If anyone agrees with me we can speak to the lagoon girl bikini designer team, and outfit them with small ammo pouches containing matches and cutters.

Yo, JG23! Good idea on the Cigar Bar. We Dungeon Types are ready to proceed, assuming the exalted Penthouse Types can build some kind of policy concensus; we Dungeon peons can resolve the admin details.

One suggestion on the location, though. We have a lovely open area down here in the Dungeon that would be perfect, if the Penthouse Crew is willing to occasionally leave their sumptuous Penthouse facility and condescend to occasionally visit the lowly Dungeon facility. We offer the following reasons for this unusual location:

1) It is next door to the check-in foyer of the G-twins' "chamber".

2) Full chilled beer pipeline service is already installed at this location. (Yeah, we know that full beer service is forbidden down here in the Dungeon by the 10-Ring rules, but there was a week two years ago when we Dungeon peons were in an insurrectionist mood, so we went ahead and installed it down here anyway! If you don't like it, call a lawyer!)

3) The location is only 23 feet from the entrance foyer of the underground firing range, thus minimizing transition time between smoking and shooting.

4) Sufficient ventilation capability is present at that location, so that the aroma from one cigar session would not carry over and intrude on the savoring of other cigars at the next session.

5) You would be within whispering distance of Mongo's primary kitchen, thus insuring instant fulfillment of your every culinary wish.

We await your collective decision.

Well gee thanks Joey ! Now you didit....Mongo & Arrow off on a "Dragon Safari" was the cover story for Mongo's absence. Why don't you just go ahead & TELL everybody that Mongo is already back w/the Montecristo's..............

Sammi, somehow we just GOTTA teach Joey23 the art of subtle...perhaps he should have been apprenticed to the old German tool & die maker that taught ME !

One of the first things the old man beat into MY thick skull was "You haff 2 eyez und 2 hearz und vun moutth....UZE DEM IN DAT PROPORTION "

The only thing that went really well on the acquizition trip, was that Mongo found out that he could parlay a (1) keg of "N"Sweat Lager into a full container of Montecristo's ! The Cuban chap in charge of inventory control is a non-smoker with a fondness for imported libation. I personally authorized Mongo to trade booty for bounty on the best terms he could devise. I must admit, he even surprised ME ! (mental note...I ain't never playing poker with Mongo ever again !) When the 2nd trip becomes necessary, I informed Mongo that in addition to a keg of NSL, he will be entrusted with a full CASE of Glenfiddich Scotch from uncle's private reserve. This should be sufficient to permit us to secure about 2 years worth of Cuban output, on even more favorable shipping terms.
As uncle isn't a scotch drinker & the Glen was acquired in a trade for other worldly goods that shall go un-named at this time, (ref J.Buffet; A Pirate Looks at Forty< "Made enough money, to buy Miami, Pissed it away so fast.....Livin in the Past...>...)
Anyhow, also on the a-jenda, Rabbi, proceed with it whatever you need for approval...my secretary will push the necessary paperwork under my hand as soon as I'm able to sign coherently (yeah...right)
at this time, uncle is in need of a "N"Sweat Slushie...I trust susan28 has a supply, they seem to be her stock in trade. After that, uncle is in need of a severe session of inner-eyelid observation & study..(YAWN.....)

You bring up a great point there grasshopper. G33 just stated she would rather spend money on guns, I am afraid it would get to the point that she would go around the Lagoon topless. However appealing that sounds, it could cause a drastic shortage in filtering media and the cost of N*ppl* Sweat would go through the roof (sound familiar?). I may be off for a few days, as it will soon be time for the annual bovine bazaar and horn swap meet in Wichita. We usually pick one of the old Kansas cow towns to have the convention and we end up having gun fight reinactments in the streets. Last year some Yak from Tibet loaded real bullets in a Colt Single action army and shot the tip off the horn of the grand Poohbah and what a fiasco that started, made pamplona look like a cattle chute. anyway, if I am off the air for a few days, worry not, I will check in when I can, that Yak fella got banned for the next few years. I am taking a few extra Kegs of N Sweat with me.

sorry to contradict, However;

It is ALWAYS 8:40 in this thread, & due to the time warp effect & the Midnight Sun, the sun never sets below the horizon at the Lagoon; It never shines into the (one) window of the Dungeon, and the party never stops in the Penthouse.

Remember these Truths & enjoy, all who venture here.

dearest uncle,

on behalf of myself and the Rabbi, i'd like to thank you for availing us of your refined sensibilities and impeccable discretion during my belated DNA removal session. i think i speak for both of us when i say it was a huge success, if the brightness of Rabbi's fire was any indication.

i have a technical question, though, regaring the properties of the Lagoon's unique time-space configuration, namely: would it not be possible, given the literally infinite flux possibilities this configuration offers, that although from an objective standpoint it is infact always 8:40 pm here, that it would be possible to have the subjective experience of any time/space coordinate the individual inhabititants desired, and to do so without disturbing the chosen time-space experience of fellow inhabitants occupying the "island of stability" that is the 8:40pm Lagoon?

if so, then Gatman may require some assistance in fighting the Brits, and i should fetch my musket, which i believe is tucked away in a footlocker on G33's Galleon (itself a Borg battlecruiser in 18th-century earth-time trim) ..

susan28,
Yes, as long as the actual time zone of the Lagoon was cleared BEFORE engaging the warp-hyper link, all should be well. This is rather related to the idea of "It's 5:00 O'Clock Somewhere". As long as "Somewhere" isn't directly disturbed, the distortion of the time/space continuim will in fact be minimized, yielding only a slight "breeze" for lack of a better description.
The same also applies to the return trip, whereas you must dis-engage the warp-hyper link, prior to arriving in the Lagoon time zone. Impulse drive is perfectly acceptable for this use, althou with G 33's Galleon, sail would be more of a dramatic re-entry.

A safe trip to you my children....

And a joyfull party upon your return.

Note to Sammurirabbi....
When Arrow left after his short visit with Vlad, he mumbled something on his way out the door, grinning like an idiot. It all makes much sense to uncle now.
The party in Mongo's honor is fully planned, however, if he doesn't return soon, we will, in fact, be forced to start the party without the guest of honor. Yeah, like it's never happened here before......

10-Ringers, the Jerri Ryan thing in Illinois gets more bizarre than this. Mr. Ryan was the frontrunner for last year's Illinois Senate race. He got in trouble when his ex- (Our "7of9" Jerri) ratted him out for wanting the two of them to hit some sex clubs during their marriage.

I think the part of the story that got them ranting was when she told the press that, in effect, he dragged her out to these places and tried to coerce her into publicly performing sex acts that she didn't want to perform- and then publicly humiliated her when she refused.

Whether or not this is totally accurate, we'll never know, but if her account is accurate, then he deserved what he got, and his political affiliations are irrelevant.

See, this is why I don't participate in political discussions- too many folks want to believe that every member of their own party is above reproach, and that every member of the opposite party is the embodiment of evil. Politics is a restricting exercise, not an exercise in growth, and I prefer growth.

Unkle, you may be confusing RESammi. The key you have described is NOT the wine cellar key; rather, it is the main gate key, which lets us sneak out of the Dungeon! The Wine Cellar Key is the one under the fourth glass from the right, in the 5th row. We clearly do not want RESammi getting frustrated by using the wrong key.

VN350X10
09-25-2005, 21:20
Not confusing in the least.....let me explain.

After MY last inebriated stumbl..er...inadvertant meandering, to eliminate all further confusion, ALL of the important locks were re-keyed with special, magnetic impulse keys. This is similar to the security system G.M. uses on Corvette & Caddy keys.
The beauty of this system is that they are all keyed alike, so as to prevent an inadvertant wrong key embarresment. This way it appears that we ALL know what we are doing, ALL of the time, regardless of blood alcohol level.
If you haven't noticed, there are now manual deadbolt locks on the inside of the various chamber doors, to prevent embarresing intrusions. But they have no key acess from the outside, so if it's locked, it's occupied. Rather like the idea on the door of a porta-potti. (You HAVE noticed the new porta-potties at the Lagoon, haven't you? no more sneaking off to the trees!)

That is a superb system, Unkle. However, permit this (blah blah blah) Dungeon Type to suggest an improvement.

Even with all locks using the same key, the inebriated 10-Ringer (pardon my redundancy) still faces the daunting task of inserting the key/card INTO THE SLOT OF THE LOCK! This could significantly impede that 10-Ringer's party progress!

I suggest we assign (blah blah etc.) Dungeon Types to "Key Duty"; they would insert the key into the lock at the request of the partying 10-Ringer (again, pardon my redundancy), thus sparing the 10-Ringer the onerous task of accurately approaching the lock slot with the key.

There are details to be perfected, of course, but the Dungeon Peons stand ever ready to assist the Penthouse Types in their adventures.
