ah, congrats uncle !! the first day of your second childhood.. :tongueout:

and i've got the perfect accessory for this little blowout, i acquired it from a rogue Pirate/Borg outfit while passing thru Mal Pais.. i was spinning a party for them and casually asked if any of them knew Tazz, and had to make a quick getaway, fortunately the booth was also a bus.. and a bar :) more accurately a "multi-function party/pillage vehicle".. those Pirate/Borg crews really do synergise nicely, don't they? you can see both influneces here:

Susan - that just rocks. We'll get the Dungeon CAD boys working on the drawings for our party bus assembly immediately. We will need to incorporate NS super chillers for slushies.

How many of those party buses will we be needing? You know, industrially speaking, the more we assemble, the "cheaper" they are. With the 10-Rings finances at hand (the details of which are not within the purvey of the Dungeon Engineering Crew), I suspect you could have a fleet of these assembled.

Of course, ours will come fully stocked, and, as any good pirate crew would have it, fully armored and armed.

10mm Glocks, I presume...

Yo, Unkle! The Dungeon Legal Team came up with a question worthy of a demented 10-Ringer (pardon my redundancy). Your statement COULD mean that NUMEROUS bodies were found in the hotel pool after the wedding, but all such bodies were identified! This interpretation MAY be a stretch, but in any blowout involving ANY 10-Ring Resort regular, it at least must be considered!

Party BUS ???????

Oh, Pshaw....

This extra equipment is for the Party converted TARDIS !!

The Inter-galactic-inter-dimensional equivilent of the Party Bus as piloted by the one & only "Wavy Gravy", party-master extreme !

as the headboard on the front of the bus said "FORWARD"

(historical note time)

The original bus has been located, & is in proscess of being restored to the condition it was in when it was the mode of transportation of Wavy Gravy & the Merry Pranksters. The restoration is allegedly taking place in a suburb of Chi-Town & expected to make it's car show debut in early 2008.

GeeTweeTwee,
You & susan28 are going to get the honors of taking the newly party-fitted TARDIS out on it's inagural run.
I trust there's got to be SOMEPLACE in the galaxy that you two haven't partied yet, & this would really be going in style.

If susan brings her equipment, not only will it be the life of the party, it will in fact be the heart & soul of the party !

It would even be possible to bring back friends from another dimension, hoping of course that they'd fit in at the Lagoon(if their partiers, they'll fit).

TARDIS will be ready to go any time after 10:00 hrs tomorrow...this gives you just a bit over 6 hrs to pack & make ready.
susan knows where the Key is & it's fully charged, or at least VERY close (98%+) so have fun !

(but be careful, just a little)

Perhaps you could also go on the party-excursion inagural trip. I'm sure the girls wouldn't mind, and might even appreciate an escort that can be trusted(rulesmeout).

Time left before departure is still a bit in excess of 5 hrs, 45 min. so start packing.
Remember, since TARDIS moves in a timewarp mode, you could be partying for 5 days & return home 10 min. after you left. Sort of like walking out to get the mail & taking the dog for a short walk.

Rabbi,
Appreciate the financial offer, but keep the party funds intact.
The excess revenue from the poker game that I won the "KEY" & use of the TARDIS in has been invested with the trolls in Zurich, so all is well at least at this time.

Bull, sounds like you REALLY need a trip.... The girls have already left (I think,.... TARDIS isn't where I parked it).

Perhaps we can arrange a MAN trip, to do manley things in a manley way & hit a couple of the bars that I know of in the Rigal 3 system. You would enjoy that, I'm sure.

There are beings there that will make you forget all about being under-appreciated & the Mrs.(the svelte etc.) won't get jealous because it will seem like you've only taken out the garbage."TRUST ME"

VN350X10
09-02-2007, 17:20
I beg to differ Rabbi......
The 6.8SPC & the 10MM share a common ancestor. The .30Rem. is in fact the parent case of both. This is why our beloved 10MM carries a LARGE primer.
I'm looking into a change of case neck size, opening up the (currently) .277" neck to one of .400".
This would yield a 10MM "SuperMag" if you will, even larger than the 10MM Mag used in the AMT Javelina.
Given the avaliable magazines for an AR platform, would this not make the AR a formidable arm ?

This thinking is along the lines of Mack Bolan, aka "The Executioner".
Bolan used a .44 AutoMag and a .444 Marlin. The idea was bullet compatibility & ease of logistics.
(fwiw, I already load .44 AutoMag & .444 Marlin)

The AR platform with an 18" bbl. would be most excellent with 200 gr. projectiles.

The reloading of the 6.8 was part of this research.

dang uncle i never knew you were, like.. God!!

i also never knew the Javelina used a different calibre?

isn't the 6.8 what's supposed to replace the .223/5.56 in the military?

VN350X10
09-02-2007, 22:12
The 6.8 SHOULD replace the 5.56 in some applications....

The AR, as designed by the late Eugene Stoner, was designed to use a light, barely stable projectile for close-in (300 M) combat in urban & jungle settings. The U.S. military has stretched the design limits of the caliber, & by using heavier bullets, yes, the 5.56 CAN make hits on enemy combatants at ranges of as much as 800 M.

The heavier bullets, however, while accurate, lack the wounding capabilities of the older, lighter, faster bullets.

Remember during the Vietnam conflict, there were rumors of the M-16's bullets tumbling in flight. HOGWASH ! BUT the bullets were BARELY stable during flight & upon impact, tumbled violently, as a result of becoming unstable after impact. This was the key to the wounding effectiveness of the early rounds.

As the military tried to adapt the AR platform into something it was never designed to do, they were trying to replace the 7.62x51 (.308) for longer range use to simplify logistics.

While I can hit a prarie dog @ 400 yds. & do massive damage,(with a .223) by the time you hit a combatant at 600 yds, the wounding effect isn't there & the enemy isn't neutralized.

The 6.8, is actually a .270 bullet (.277") was the choice. This decision wasn't made lightly, as during testing, bullets of .30, 7mm, .270, 6.5mm & 6mm were tested.
The .270 offered the best balance of velocity, accuracy & terminal performance.

Basicly, this will be the U.S. military answer to the commonly encountered 7.62x39, which has been around for 60(!) years, more or less.
It is interesting to note, that while the Soviet forces developed their own combat .22,(5.45x39) it soon fell out of favor with their military & was rejected almost entirely by their arms customers, in favor of the older, proven 7.62x39.
The only real application of the 5.45x39 is found in the "Krinkov" sub-machine gun. It has been eliminated for most other uses.

historical note.....the thinking about the 7.62x39 seems to have been influenced by the even EARLIER German development, the 8mm Kurz.(7.92x33mm) This was the first true "assault rifle" ctg., developed about 1940-41.

(historical data from "Ctgs. of the World", 11th ed.

The development of what became the .223 Remington has some strange twists. Stoner started with the .222 Remington, which satisfied penetration requirments at 300 yards (the American military was not yet metric in the late '50s.) The Army Ordinance people then upped the range requirement to 400 yards. Then the upper echelons of the Army rounded THAT revised 400 yard figure up to a nice-sounding 500 yards! The .222 Remington could not achieve the new requirement, so Stoner designed a new round, lengthening the case and shortening the neck to increase capacity to fulfill the new penetration requirements. Thus was born the .223 Remington.

Years later, the Army shifted to metric, and the requirement became 500 METERS! From 300 yards to 550 yards, primarily to satisfy bureaucratic self-esteem!

Well there wouldn't be any doubt of my 10mm loyalty if the bloody Austrians would hurry up and send me my G20! I ordered it in january this year, as some of us dont have the luxuary of having it written into our constitution...we have to wait for these things to arrive. The Glocks for NZ come direct from Austria via Hong Kong or something like that to the dealer here in Auckland NZ...no smyrna ga stuff here...just 100% austrain made man with proofs and all.

I have all the reloading gear and about 700 rounds sitting here waiting to be eaten by my precious....and I've been waiting for it to arrive since january! If thats not dedication to a caliber then what is fool? Me a pretender of 10mm love? I think not!

Given that you HAVE ammo loaded, but no pistol in which to shoot same, I can feel your pain.
I was in a similar situation waiting for my 1st .44 Magnum, production not up to demand (curse you, Clint Eastwood !)

My current roster in 10MM:

(2) Glock mod 20
(1) Glock mod 29 (carry gun in gunshop)
(1) S&W 1006 w/adj sights
(1) S&W 610, 6 1/2" bbl
(1) Springfield Omega (extra bbl & mags for .45ACP)
(1) Ruger BlackHawk "Buckeye Special", convertible cyl in .38-40
(1) 10" barrel for T-C Contender

And kicking myself for the day I passed up a Bren Ten two barrel set. It also had a .45 ACP barrel, & the rarest item was that the Bren had 2(!) magazines in each caliber.(stupid on my part, that one)

Look at the bright side, your dollar is more valuable than my dollar if I'm not mistaken, so when you do get it, it will cost less.
What is involved in getting a handgun in NZ anyhow ? I'm not familiar with gun laws outside the USA.

Actually, Sig_NZ, the Dungeon Staff has chosen to disregard your grousing about the proposed death of the 8:40PM thread, for you have most perceptively noticed an important, and frequently overlooked, aspect of 10-Ring Resort hospitality. The quality of the sheets used in the 10-Ring Resort Facility is a key component of the luxurious experience here. ALL Penthouse types and their guests sleep on sheets of at least 600 thread count; the senior 10-Ringers within the organization spend their rest time on 800 thread count bedding. The lowly servile pond scum (blah blah blah) Dungeon Peons make do on lesser, yet still comfortable, 500 thread sheets; hey, we know our place within the heirarchy! ... (Rabbi, that's not EXACTLY true) ... What da ya mean? ... (Those burgundy sateen sheets you prefer are 600 count) ... Hey, whoopdedoo! If the 10-Ringers object, they can sue me! Besides, what inebriated 10-Ringer - pardon my redundancy - would ever sober up enough to count to 600?! ... (hmmm - good point) ... Perhap, NZ, you are too far away to frequent the 10-Ring Resort as much as you might wish; we will work on establishing an Annex in your part of the world.

1987... has it really been that long? Geezy, i'm get'n old!

Ahhh... the good 'ole days! Yeah, that war dance was really good!

Well, if you have a team that is as tough as those guys, you will win.

That was 1987? Thanks for reminding me! Great freak'n party! That team got out in the middle of the dance floor at the order of their captain, took off their shirts, and went

HUGHA!!!!

Chills ran up and down everybodies spines.

Then the proceeded to dance.

Unfreaking believable!

Everyone stood there in total awe until they where done.

Then the cheers and applause went up.

We were ALL SO impressed!

Oh, and sorry you are so concerned with the details that you can't even take a joke, much less a little entertainment. Not to mention you also have a problem separating fact from fiction.

You probably also wouldn't believe i live on a $1.5 MILLION piece of property on a year round deep water sheltered cove and have salt water on 3 sides of my house and fish for King Salmon and crab off my front lawn. Have clams and oysters on my beach, not to mention hot drunk chicks in bikini's, and live on an Island in paradise!

Google that BEYOTCH!

Then, after you get done feeling stuuuuupid, you can appologize and i'll let you out of the dungeon and you can come down and hang out with us at the lagoon and have a beer or 3... or more... who cares!

It's all about FREEDOM, baby! You either got it or you don't!

IMPORTANT 10-RING FACILITY ADMINISTRATIVE ANNOUNCEMENT:

I will be distracted from my usual alert admin mode for the next 3 days. Clonie Gowen has avoided elimination during the 1st three days of this week's Poker After Dark, and I will be preoccupied with tracking her progress. As an additional factor, she is looking FINE! She had found a hair color which nicely complements her coloring, her neckline manages to be BOTH decorous AND intriguing, and her hemline is higher than this week's Dow Jones average! I have outsourced all financial, admin, and engineering work to the jurisdiction of the eminently capable Dungeon Administrative Staff until this "distraction" has been terminated. Catch ya' on the flip!

Eng, this is the 10-Ring, not the common rabble. We do things with class and style! In our operation, "outsourcing" is shifting an expenditure to another budget line item to get depreciation and tax advantages. The skill and expertise of the Dungeon Consultants could never be duplicated in the outside world.

Clonie has made the final night of Poker After Dark; my distraction therefore continues. I ask the Dungeon Types to carry the administrative load for preparations for the Lagoon blowout this weekend.

IMPORTANT (if possibly psychotic) 10-RING FACILITY ADMINISTRATIVE ANNOUNCEMENT:

Clonie was victorious in this week's Poker After Dark; I am one contented salacious sleazeball. I also received confirmation of my superb eye for visual detail: When she stood to receive congratulations at the end of the match, my estimate of the height of her hemline was confirmed. It is pleasant to know that my ability to assess a situation has not been impaired by my confinement here in the Dungeon.

To commemorate her victory, the Dungeon Crew will implement a major capability expansion of the Beer Service within the 10-Ring Resort Facility. A specific announcement will be made in a few days. We wish to emphasize that financing of this as-yet-secret improvement will be carried primarily by the Dungeon embezzled cut of the take. We would have done COMPLETE financing of the deal, but since it is a beer-related action item, the 10-Ringers insisted on participating, if only just for honor's sake. We Dungeon Types understand.

O.K. we seem to be back in, just a minor time-warp to correct. At least TARDIS is where I left it parked, but it's power cells are rather down. Prolly came thru on auto-pilot, but it took a LOT of energy to enter the domain. A new set of cells will cure that, just that susan28 & G33 might miss a "shopping trip" while the re-energizing is going on.

Excellent suggestion if I do say so myself. I love Mr. Thoroughgood's (sp?) vast selection of songs using the imbibing theme. One of my favorites along that line is one bourbon, one scotch and one beer. I would probably rename the song if I were singing it to one beer, one more beer, and another beer, but that isn't as lyrically entertaining is it? :)

As for your announcing "soon" the "Great Healing"... well, "soon" is long gone in my book... GET ON IT, BOY!!! *WiiiCRACK!!!* (sound of whip cracking on Sammy's bare pink butt!)

I grovel, plead, beg, and implore your forgiveness, oh exalted salacious leader of all we hold precious in the caliber universe! This lowly Dungeon peon who is not worthy to even THINK the sacred "200 grain / 1200 feet per second" mantra had NO IDEA WHATSOEVER that ANY lascivious 10-Ringer (pardon my redundancy) would be concerned about a subtle philosophical disagreement in a non-10mm related area. I am so distraught about my oversight that I am prepared to prostrate myself before any selected Penthouse Tribunal in hopes of someday being judged worthy of even performing routine cleaning of a 10mm Glock ... (Rabbi, ENOUGH with the forgiveness shtick! We doubt any of the 10-Ringers are sober enough to appreciate it! Get on with the "healing" description!) ... Hmmmmm ... I think you are right.

The "great healing" is between the two most prominent factions of the AR-15 .22 conversion camp: Army M261, and Ceiner. For years, the bitterness has festered: Ceiner lording it over M261 for the "massive volume of output" pouring from the Ceiner 30 round mags, and M261 razzing Ceiner for the 'slim undersized member" hanging below the rifle ... you get the drift!

This dissention is history! Black Dog has announced two new products: 1) A 27-round M261 mag, and 2) A full-thickness 27-round Ceiner mag. The schism is healed! Even though these two products are not yet commercially available, the mere prospect of them has brought understanding and good will to both sides of this AR conversion "great divide"! Such is the unifying effect within all groupings within the American firearms community!

The Dungeon Crew has, on its own volition, opened the 10-Ring Resort to all AR conversion shooters in celebration of this magnificient development. The Dung Cru will, of course, carry the financing load of this extra partying contingent. While some Penthouse types may be perturbed by this possible Dungeon usurpation of authority, we Dungeon types reply: 1) It was in a noble cause, and 2) you know how how difficult it can be to find a 10-Ringer sober enough to give a legible signature!

Susan28,
Your dilemma has been duly noted....plans are being formulated this very evening to provide either:
A) Auxiluary power supply, isolated from main for enmergency usage, or:

B) Remote receptors for long distance recharge capability of TARDIS' power cells, to prevent such an unfortunate incident from re-ocurance.

The design/fabrication/engineering unit is on the concept, I expect a reply/solution within 48 hours.

However, at this time, I would request that TARDIS remain parked in the Lagoon hanger facility until further notice.(not "grounding" you dear, just need to know WHERE it is to effect repairs !)

Actually, Unkle, I would prefer to be NOT cleared for this. It is much more emotionally satisfying to achieve something illicitly than to be approved for it by the authority figures. Sort of like being a teenager, but backed by a solid administrative structure.

Susan28,
Your dilemma has been duly noted....plans are being formulated this very evening to provide either:
A) Auxiluary power supply, isolated from main for enmergency usage, or:

B) Remote receptors for long distance recharge capability of TARDIS' power cells, to prevent such an unfortunate incident from re-ocurance.

The design/fabrication/engineering unit is on the concept, I expect a reply/solution within 48 hours.

However, at this time, I would request that TARDIS remain parked in the Lagoon hanger facility until further notice.(not "grounding" you dear, just need to know WHERE it is to effect repairs !)

uncle, et.al.

*pout* ok :( can't wait til it's done!! :)

Double Chocolate Mint Slushies:

melt down worthless Mexican-produced "ameros" to make an emulsion. press into merit badges with which to ply roving bands of girl scouts until they begin to separate from chocolate-mint cookies, continue bribes until you have (5) cases of cookies. send sammi to local liquour distributorship with pics of the owner from the last dungeon party to procure (5) cases Godiva liquer and (5) cases RumpleMintz. blend equal parts cookie, Godiva liquer, RumpleMintz and ice until desired consistency is reached. pour into slushie moulds and serve. makes 500, but you'll lose count way before then..

Recipe rec'd. however the quantities indicated seem to only be adequate for one (1) uncle-size Slushie.

Not a problem, quantities can increase as necessary.

(and NO pouting !! But a pouty-mouth Angie Jolie impression is fine !) .....:)

as the majority of my absence has been spent tangling with the natives of planet GTPI 2.0, there is the rather slim chance that i am sober enough to hold a pen long enough to sign the authorisation form, and volunteer to do so, with Imperious Leader's consent, of course. i would have been back sooner, but got into trouble with some hostiles and had to divert all of the Tardis's power to the shields, forcing me to scream Geesie's name over and over, and over again, hoping for a ride home.. or was that *during* the ride home..

ah well in any case she was kind enough to give me a lift in her *sweet* new ride..

where *does* she get all those wonderful *toys*?

(grabbing s slushie form the fridge and padding after Geesie to the dungeon for IL's demonkeyfication session)

During this session, if we can get a good 3 way chorus going of "Geesie, Susan, Imperious Leader!" (i don't care about the order, as long as it's passionate, wild, and loud... like good music should be...) i'll be more than happy to give consent... and then some!

Speaking of music... anybody notice music playing while posting??? hehehe... God, i love it when a plan comes together!

::raising my hands in "kudos" gesture, soliciting crowd response::

yes i *did* notice the power chord serenade, but only at the Lagoon, nowhere else.. it's like a freakin' metal epcot or sumpthin;.. :)

We do have MP3 capability in TARDIS, but it seems such a waste of a beautiful time/space/warp blur to attempt to listen to it.......

Tazz, the Dungeon Songwriter Guild suggests punching up the chorus lyrics by going with "Hot Geesie, Hot Susan, Exalted Salacious Sleazeball!" Better beat, hotter lyrics, superior tie-in to followup verses. Whadduya say?

See... this is why that guild is in the Dungeon... they just don't "get it"... oh, but they think they do... and that is why they form a guild... they convince themselves they are soooo good with their self gratification... then they try to convince us of the same... and then demand more and more money...

Whip them!

Wild passion and the heat that blooms from it is generated from deep within the soul when all come together as one. The Spirit generates the lyrics... not the other way around!

Further... a Lady doesn't scream "Exalted Salacious Sleazeball!". But, treated the way she wants to be, she may scream "OH... Exalted Leader!!!"... hey... it's happened before!

Oh... and to clarify... i may be a little "lustful"... "salacious" as you put it... but i am NOT a "sleazeball"!

I can pretend to be, though, if need be.... hehehe....;)
