My Family Tree was based on the "10MM" case and what fits inside the normal 10mm magazines with the exception being the outcast "Big Brother" the 10mm Magnum , if that makes sense...

The 357SIG and 9X25Dillon becaused they have a stepped shoulders became step brothers.

I thought I choose these words carefully.

BTW there was some mention of the G-20 and the 10mm cartridge on the facebook GLOCK pages today...

Yup, someone on my mom's side of the family was shot by Wild Bill Hickok. I guess it's better than being famous for getting kicked in the head by a mule or something. I'd just rather not be famous. Of course, I guess I'm the surprise for my current generation.

Sorry, little Italian guy here. I cook with far too much garlic and I also planted about ten zucchini plants. I have a zucchini stir fry with garlic, chipotle pepper, cumin and apple vinegar which I cook twice a week. The rest of the zucchini go into all my summer casseroles to add veggies. We're getting our last hot spell of the summer and the zuchinni plants are getting ready to go in the winter compost pile.

But still, I'm confused. Do you grow zucchini just so you can compost them? I really pride myself on my compost heap. I'll have to try that. It seems like a really cool closed loop system. The Heart of Gold does something similar with its antimatter byproducts.

AH HA ! Another erronious statement.
There is NO SUCH THING as TOO MUCH GARLIC !!!

As a matter of fact, a sintered garlic core in a silver jacket is about the best defensive bullet that can be made ! Werewolves drop from the silver, Vampires expire from the garlic & mortals get gangrene from the wound caused by the silver/garlic composite, assuming that it's not an instantly fatal hit !

WIN WIN WIN !!!

I will admit to using grated zuchinni to "stretch" a recipe, especially if I was feeding relatives....:whistling:

Might be true with bullets, but in the hands of a CAJUN and boiling up a big pot of crabs, shrimp or crawfish with all that garlic...Yum Yum! Maybe why we don't see any Vampires in LoUiSiAna...too much garlic in our blood that and some bubblely pop!

The Heart of Gold has several failsafes. If the proper shutdown procedures are not followed, it shuts down lifesupport and heads to a special time and place where I retrieve it and restart life support functions. It's pretty slick, the occupants receive messaging which informs them how to survive in the stasis units. I usually return them to where I got them, but a couple of select and deserving individuals have received particularly humiliating and unnerving strandings.

He makes a mean Long Island Ice Tea which has the added feature of never tasting the same way twice in a row (although he does show a decided preference for making banana daiquiris). Be careful of his specialty though. It is rumored that his Bonzo Sock Eyed Special involves putting a raw fish (among other sundry items) in a blender.

If you're havin' trouble with your high school head
He's givin' you the blues
You wanna graduate but not in 'is bed
Here's what you gotta do -
Pick up the phone
I'm always home
Call me any time
Just dial
36 24 36 hey
I lead a life of crime
Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap
Dirty Deeds and they're Done Dirt Cheap
You got problems in your life of love
You got a broken heart
He's double dealin' with your best friend
That's when the teardrops start -
Pick up the phone
I'm here alone
Or make a social call
Come right in
Forget about him
We'll have ourselves a ball
Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap
Dirty Deeds and they're Done Dirt Cheap
If you got a lady and you want her gone
But you ain't got the guts
She keeps naggin' at you night and day
Enough to drive you nuts -
Pick up the phone
Leave her alone
It's time you made a stand
For a fee
I'm happy to be
Your back door man
Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap
Dirty Deeds and they're Done Dirt Cheap
Concrete shoes, cyanide, TNT
Done Dirt Cheap
Neckties, contracts, high voltage
Done Dirt Cheap

The Dungeon Dirty Deed Detachment knows it's duty!

Reminds me of a funny story. My wife had a cousin who was married to this guy (he was in his 50s at the time of the telling). This guy is telling me about the good old days when his father, who was a bag man for the mob, used to go around and make collections and deliveries. He was telling me about his two grown up buddies (I forget their names, lets call them Louie and Dewey) who sometimes would hang out with this guy (maybe 5-8 years old at the time) while his dad was out making a delivery. After he tells me the story, I stop him and I ask, "Did you ever find out if Huey and Dewey only hung around with you when your dad was doing a big delivery?" ..... Silence .... I continue, "Cause it seems like they were keeping you for collateral, more than enjoying a six year olds company."
Have you ever seen a guy in his 50s have an epiphany that he was about two shakes of a lambs tail away from getting whacked.
True story.

King Arthur: How does it... um... how does it work?
Sir Lancelot: I know not, my liege.
King Arthur: Consult the Book of Armaments.
Brother Maynard: Armaments, chapter two, verses nine through twenty-one.
Cleric: [reading] And Saint Attila raised the hand grenade up on high, saying, "O Lord, bless this thy hand grenade, that with it thou mayst blow thine enemies to tiny bits, in thy mercy." And the Lord did grin. And the people did feast upon the lambs and sloths, and carp and anchovies, and orangutans and breakfast cereals, and fruit-bats and large chu...
Brother Maynard: Skip a bit, Brother...
Cleric: And the Lord spake, saying, "First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin. Then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who, being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it. Brother Maynard: Amen.
All: Amen.
King Arthur: Right. One... two... five.
Galahad: Three, sir.
King Arthur: Three.

Permit me to offer a clarification. It was not the encyclopedia; it was the Oxford English Dictionary - not the wimpy one volume abridgement, but the full-blown twenty volume real-man 10mm-worthy setup! You will learn to LOVE that adj. ht. grate. Something like that will be built into my next one.(will be made by uncle, not purchased. WON'T be light ga. material)
Royalm oak natural lump hardwood c'coal is your friend, best I've found commercially. Briquets by Royal Oak are good, beat Kingsford (less filler) but only use briquets if you need a long burning fire, like 1.5 hrs. or more, otherwise lump gives far better flavor.
Watch the mesquite, too much makes for a bitter taste, I use it dry, not soaked, gives smoke fast then settles down to a good hot burn.

a king-size Titanic unsinkable Molly Brown waterbed with polybendum,
a foolproof plan and an airtight alibi,
real simulated Indian jewelry,
a Gucci shoetree,

Your SkippyjonJones right on the money there.
I had to look that one up.

This is a wildly wonderful book about a hyperactive kitten, Skippyjon Jones, whose head and ears are too big for his body, and whose imagination is too intense for his mama. According to her, he needs to do some serious thinking about what it means to be a Siamese cat instead of a bird (Skippyjon always wakes up and eats worms with his feathered friends). She sends him to his room, where he imagines he is a Chihuahua ("My name is Skippito Friskito./I fear not a single bandito").
So, it doesn't sound as if Skippyjon Jones was ever right on the money on anything. I require more data on this apparantly far reaching and quaint colloquialism.

In modern Project Management parlance, we now call this developing a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS). Many corporate mangement types feel that letting the drones touch and feel the planning stage develops "buy in."

Beware the average guy in the trenches who can spot a hollow suit a mile away.

WBS? Worthless BS.

Hollow suits are not hard to spot. Think of worst actor you ever saw. Typically, they are very loud and they speak using a lot of phoney corporate jargon like "why don't you reach out to them" (please talk to them), "take an action to ..." (could you please do ....", "let's collaborate" (let's work together), "Let the team review the plan and we'll see if we get buy in" (once the workers have seen the plan and don't reject it, they can't complain about it anymore and we can blame them if anything goes wrong).

Honestly, 90% of the people who actually do any work can spot these guys.

Not to worry, aside from the two martini lunches, there don't appear to be any hollow suits in the dungeon.

Permit me to interrupt the current discussion of corporate chicanery, but it may be necessary to convene a 10-Ring Disciplinary Tribunal for possible heretical actions.

The target of this possible Disciplinary Tribunal: me.

Today I obtained a Lone Wolf 357Sig conversion barrel for a G20. This means, of course, that one of my 20s will, at times, be profaned by firing a caliber other than the noble 10MM that is the focus of this organization. Such heresy must, of course, become the subject of attention by the 10-Ring enforcement echelons. I am manfully prepared to face whatever Chamber Sessions the 10-Ring may deem proper punishment for my betrayal of the noble aspirations of the 10MM faithful.

In my defense, permit me to to point out that this barrel does NOT fire the Stunted&Wishful F'caliber. This factor, while not totally exonerating my conduct, nevertheless is presented as SOME amelioration of my actions.

I await the 10-Ring judgement for my action. Beveredges ... Beverejes ... DRINKS for the tribunal sessions will be covered out of my end of the take.

In the spirit of your leadership, I vote that you receive no punishment, and I admit to fantasies of my own heresies. Yesterday, I put $300 down on a Glock 29 and I began CA's 10 day waiting period. :crazy:As we discussed the gun, I mentioned that I may eventually get a conversion barrel for one of my 10mm. .... and yes, since it would be for ammo availability purposes, I did mention the words short and weak ...:headscratch:
If the years have taught me anything, it has been that memories can be changed with time (and effort).:notlistening: Hopefully, I can change this blasphemied memory to similarly be of a .357 Sig nature. :sadangel:

Uh, okay, not sure if you want information from me or "a higher authority."

I just purchased one new in box Glock 29 and I am waiting for CA's unconstitutional 10 day waiting period to be up. I spent $30 on a box of 50 American Eagle 180 grain 10mm, so I can verify that factory ammo works okay in both my G20 and my G29. If so, then I have to keep fiddle faddling around with my reloads to see why I am having primer seating problems.

Uh, what else .... I have some 165 grain and 180 grain 10mm loads using Unique (1020 fps) which are real accurate and after I put a few of those downrange, I want to work up a hot blue dot load with 155 grain XTPs. I plan to keep the recoil on the G29 a bit on the mild side (like a 9mm on steroids).

Sitting on my hands during the waiting period is difficult, but it is also ill conceived and short sighted. What is it preventing me from doing exactly? It must assume that I have no other guns at home or something because I'm supposed to be cooling down during this waiting period. It's just dumb. Dumb!!

MD, don't fret about using real 10MM loads in the G29.
My current "carry" ammo for the store is a 155 gr Rem JHPT moving out at about 1380+/- they make a pf of about 214 USPSA, shoot like absolute pusycatz ! about 100 of them on a "warm up day" in a useful 2" at about 35-40 ft. (distance from counter to door of shop!)
A 29 LIKES hot ammo, mine is great with the old 200 gr Norma (almost out, only 2-3 boxes left:crying:)
Remember, 10.0 gr BlueDot under anything, 200 gr or less, perfect "10" load !

Yeah, when I look through my reloading manuals, no problem getting 155 grain 10mm bullets going over 1350 fps with blue dot. I even found a 155 grain HS-6 load which goes 1350 fps. Just looking at some tables in a Hornady Handbook and a 10mm, 155 grain round going 1350 fps makes 627 ft. lbs of energy. That's my definition of a hay maker and it's nearly double the energy of a .45 ACP

My current "carry" ammo for the store is a 155 gr Rem JHPT moving out at about 1380+/- they make a pf of about 214 USPSA, shoot like absolute pusycatz ! .
That's what I'm hoping for; just like a big zippy giant 9mm round. I find my G20 kicks less than my G21 with equivalent weight bullets (even though the 10mm rounds are going 100-150 fps faster).

I would have to agree with uncle albert on this one, The Glock 29 will handle the hot stuff just fine...I use the Wolff non-captured guide rod & the 21# recoil springs in my carry piece! This will be stoked with the Hornady 200 XTP, 10.5 grains Blue Dot, Remington Cases, CCI 300 primer with it seated to 1.260". While this runs 1175-1200 fps from my S&W1006 it is only 1140 fps from thw 3.78" Glock factory barrel.

What is not to like about that!

I believe that spring is stiffer than stock. Correct?
How does this function with the slower ammunition?

The loss of 60 fps seems a worthwhile tradeoff if it means that you are more likely to carry. I'll bet you couldn't tell the difference between the two in a gelatin or phonebook test.

_The_Shadow
10-16-2010, 13:23
Minervadoe, yes the Wolff recoil is a two piece non captured dual spring system, it is avalible in several spring weights from 16 lb out to 23 lb.

I did some loads with Power Pistol & the 200XTP's that made 1160 fps from this short barrel G-29...

The 21 lb spring works even with light loaded 40S&W target stuff just fine and the Storm Lake 40S&W conversion barrel.

I don't know about gelatin or phone books...gallon jugs of water don't show any differences to be concerened with.

It is disheartning to see this cartridge not loaded to it's potential in most of the commercial markets. But then looking at some commercial 357 Magnums 158 grain bullets which I ran over my chrony showed they only made 1095 fps from a 6" Colt Python. The buying public really doesn't have a clue unless they get it tested or believe the market hype to be fact.

MinervaDoe
10-16-2010, 17:05
Sometimes, the commercial ammunition manufacturers play it safe and load stuff way down, lest someone put their ammo in some weak old pistol.

Ironically, you have manufacturers like double tap who are on the extreme other end of the scale.

You happened to catch the 8:40PM thread in unusual circumstances. We are ramping up on preparations for the approaching 10th anniversary blowouts within the 10-Ring resort facility. The drunken Penthouse types (pardon my redundancy) have reduced their inebriation (admittedly, to a minor extent) to assist in logistic preparations for this important event. I think the ground wire on your conspiracy hat may need checking; of course, you should enjoy the tingle ... while it lasts.

The thread is 8:40PM for a compelling reason. 8:40PM has nice associations for the 10-Ringers, for it hints at the leading time edge of the evening's partying and associated debauchery. 8:40AM is more commonly associated with recovery from hangovers from the previous night's partying. Such minor details are meaningful in the 10MM outlook on life.

It was an interesting setup. The package contained all parts from a 21 except the frame itself. It must have been a confiscated gun; the police destroyed the receiver alone, to satisfy the legal requirement, but pulled all other parts off the gun and sold them to make some bucks. If I recall correctly, I think it cost me about $230. That's a cheap price to pay for Chamber sessions inflicted on me for my heretical deviation from the true 10mm faith.

All the upper parts functioned fine on the 20 lower. It should; it is all Glock factory parts, and the frames are identical.

Time to get back to the debauchery!

We have an interesting convergence of forces at this point. We can resume the standard issue 10-Ring debauchery (pardon my redundancy), but we must also look ahead to the 10th anniversary blowouts which are not too far away. Balancing these two contrasting sequences will test the 10-Ring capacity to harmonize conflicting forces.

Watch this thread for updates.

50 pages..... let's do the math ....
My SWAG ......
Post 400 occurred on 11/05/2009.
Let's say it was exactly one year ago. Close enough for government work?
So I would guess that post 500 will occur on or near October 15th 2011. Give or take a month.

I think it will be way before then.

Shadow, watch the Remmie cases.....might be better off w/Starline or Win.
I prefer the Starline for hot stuff. The only case failure I've had on firing was a plated Rem, on first firing ! The rest of that batch got shot in my Buckeye S.A.
