Reminds me of one of the cars I inherited from mom in my younger days. A 1975 Mercury Marquis, it had a 460 with a 4 barrel carb, that thing would pass anything but a gas station.
The potential of a mildly stroked big block does not register with some of the younger folks. Yes, for a very mild investment, this car could beat a 350 Z off the line.
I have had people grilling for me for much too long. I dont' run into too many opportunities where I can cook for just me ( I don't want to ruin everyone's meal) so I just need to practice more.
Pssst - Don't tell anybody, but I've neve made chili before. I make a mean risotto or scalloped potatoes though.
Scarborough fair chili?
:rofl: I use it on my crock pot chicken and beef recipes (I use the drippings for my risotto - see above). Scarborough Fair Pot Roast ... That is a good name for it. I may have to modify as needed and pretend I invented it.

If you have to ASK what it means, you don't deserve to be told!

Your reading the first and last pages is a start, but only a minimal one. If you leave your research at that level, then the 10-Ring Faithful will inevitably lump you in with the common-rabble 9 and 40 shooters. You will find this to be a depressing state of existence.

The Twelve Days of Christmas
The Twelve Gifts of Christmas
On the first day of Christmas, my true love gave to meA Japanese transistor radio.
On the second day of Christmas, my true love gave to meGreen polka-dot pajamas,And a Japanese transistor radio.(It's a Nakashuma.)
On the third day of Christmas, my true love gave to me A calendar book with the name of my insurance man,Green polka-dot pajamas,And a Japanese transistor radio.(It's the Mark IV model. That's the one that's discontinued.)
On the fourth day of Christmas, my true love gave to meA simulated alligator wallet,A calendar book with the name of my insurance man,Green polka-dot pajamas,And a Japanese transistor radio.(And it comes in a leatherette case with holes in it,so you can listen right through the case.)
On the fifth day of Christmas, my true love gave to meA statue of a lady, with a clock where her stomach ought to be,A simulated alligator wallet,A calendar book with the name of my insurance man,Green polka-dot pajamas,And a Japanese transistor radio.(And it has a wire with a thing on one end that youcan stick in your ear, and a thing on the other endthat you can't stick anywhere, because it's bent.)
On the sixth day of Christmas, my true love gave to meA hammered aluminum nutcracker,And all that other stuff,And a Japanese transistor radio.
On the seventh day of Christmas, my true love gave to meA pink satin pillow that says San Diego, with fringe all around it,And all that other stuff,And a Japanese transistor radio.
On the eighth day of Christmas, my true love gave to meAn indoor plastic birdbath,And all that other stuff,And a Japanese transistor radio.
On the ninth day of Christmas, my true love gave to meA pair of teakwood shower clogs,And a Japanese transistor radio.
On the tenth day of Christmas, my true love gave to meA chromium combination manicure scissors and cigarette lighter,And a Japanese transistor radio.
On the eleventh day of Christmas, my true love gave to meAn automatic vegetable slicer that works when you see it on television, but not when you get it home,And a Japanese transistor radio. On the twelfth day of Christmas, although it may seem strange,
On the twelfth day of Christmas, I'm going to exchange:An automatic vegetable slicer that works when you see it on television, but not when you get it home,A chromium combination manicure scissors and cigarette lighter,A pair of teakwood shower clogs,An indoor plastic birdbath,A pink satin pillow that says San Diego, with fringe all around it,A hammered aluminum nutcracker,A statue of a lady, with a clock where her stomach ought to be,A simulated alligator wallet,A calendar book with the name of my insurance man,Green polka-dot pajamas,And a Japanese transistor radio.Merry Christmas everybody!

The kids filed back into class Monday morning. They were very excited. Their weekend assignment was to sell something, then give a talk on productive salesmanship.

Little Sally led off: "I sold girl scout cookies and I made $30," she said proudly, "My sales approach was to appeal to the customer's civil spirit and I credit that approach for my obvious success."

"Very good," said the teacher.

Little Jenny was next: "I sold magazines," she said, "I made $45 and I explained to everyone that magazines would keep them up on current events."

"Very good, Jenny," said the teacher..

Eventually, it was Little Johnny's turn. The teacher held her breath ... Little Johnny walked to the front of the classroom and dumped a box full of cash on the teacher's desk. "$2,467," he said.
"$2,467!" cried the teacher, "What in the world were you selling" ? Toothbrushes," said Little Johnny.

"Toothbrushes," echoed the teacher, "How could you possibly sell enough tooth brushes to make that much money?"

"I found the busiest corner in town," said Little Johnny, "I set up a Dip & Chip stand, I gave everybody who walked by a free sample."

They all said the same thing, "Hey, this tastes like dog crap!"

Then I would say, "It is dog crap. Wanna buy a toothbrush? I used the President Obama method of giving you something ****ty, but looks good, for free, and then making you pay to get the bad taste out of your mouth." The teacher was speechless. . . . . . . .

Little Johnny got 5 stars for his efforts, bless his heart.

2) Capitalization elimination

IMPORTANT 10-RING FACILITY ADMINISTRATIVE ANNOUNCEMENT -- WELL, NOT REALLY ADMINISTRATIVE; ACTUALLY MORE OF AN ABJECT CONFESSION BY DUNGEON ADMIN PERSONNEL

We Dungeon types may have unwittedly demonstrated a bit of the coarsened attitude which is now being beaten up ... Whoops! ... discussed at length ... in recent posts to this thread.

In this evening's transition from the final Holiday post-party to the first of the 10th Annivesary Pre-Parties, we allowed logistics oversights to create a 3.7 second time gap between the applicable parties. This is an overwhelming excess over the normal two-second maximum allowable gap between 10-Ring parties. We apologize most abjectly for this lapse in Dungeon administrative efficiency.

Even our realization that the incoherent inebriated 10-Ring partiers (pardon my multiple redundancies) did not notice this gap does not excuse our lapse. It is OUR knowledge of our deplorable deficiency in this instance that drives our outlook on life. If we were to start thinking that poor performance is excusable if nobody else notices it, then we have put this country further along the deviation from excellence that may be its possible future.

Change-over of a Slushie chiller bumped a breaker and contributed to the time gap.
TARDIS wasn't available to quickly rectify the situation before the flickering lights were noticed by the bouncers guarding the High Condo entrance. We really didn't think the party crew had noticed.

We were planning to drag an apprentice Electrical Engineer student to a stockade in the production area as punishment.

Change-over of a Slushie chiller bumped a breaker and contributed to the time gap.
The nice thing about time gaps, temperal distortions, and paradoxes is that the only people who notice them have time machines. As such, they are certain to have a few blunders of their own to sweep under the rug.

TARDIS wasn't available to quickly rectify the situation before the flickering lights were noticed by the bouncers guarding the High Condo entrance. We really didn't think the party crew had noticed.
The party crew excels at random attention swings. Did you offer them all a rum Slushie? That would almost certainly switch their attention away from the flickering lights.

Jeri had accused Jack Ryan of asking her to perform sexual acts (http://glocktalk.com/wiki/Sexual_act) with him in public, and in sex clubs (http://glocktalk.com/wiki/Sex_club) in New York (http://glocktalk.com/wiki/New_York), New Orleans (http://glocktalk.com/wiki/New_Orleans), and Paris (http://glocktalk.com/wiki/Paris). Jeri Ryan described one as "a bizarre club with cages, whips and other apparatus hanging from the ceiling."[13] (http://glocktalk.com/forums/#cite_note-12) Jack Ryan denied these allegations. Although Jeri Ryan refused to comment on the matter during the campaign, the document disclosure led Jack Ryan to withdraw his candidacy; his main opponent, Barack Obama (http://glocktalk.com/wiki/Barack_Obama), then won the Senate seat.

Wow, so it's like that Star Trek episode where Captain Kirk went back in time and had to let that lady get killed in an automobile accident lest she start a peace movement which allowed the Nazis to win WWII.

... so if Jerri had just kept her yap shut, then Jack Ryan may have won and eliminated the Obama threat.
Except, that maybe then Hilary Clinton would have won the Presidency and would have done a less ham handed job of implementing pretty much the same programs and we'd just as bad off or maybe worse.
Geez, this time travel stuff is complicated.

Apparently, back when the thread was initiated, if the site went down in the middle of a thread's initial post, the "Title" was populated with the time of the system crash.
So, the thread's title was relatively random. Ten Ring members are attracted to random things. So, the tread morphs through time and members and outlives us all.

Sure. Swing by and we'll set you up. We'll also coach you throuigh the transition. Going from N'Sweat to a '59 or '61 LaFitte Rothschild must be done carefully.

Whatever you do, stay away from Tazz's stockpile of '62 LaFitte. It is swill!

IMPORTANT 10-RING FACILITY ADMINISTRATIVE ... (blah, blah, you know the drill) ...

I have achieved another step on my transition toward full 10-Ring membership. As some of you may remember (assuming anyone really CARES!), I own two 30's from my days when I was a scheming subversive agent of the old slow 45 within the noble 10mm universe. A couple years ago, I obtained a complete 29 top half and installed it on one of the 30's, thus achieving SOMETHING (I'm not truly certain WHAT) in my progression to full 10-Ring status among the faithful.

This weekend, I obtained a KKM 10mm conversion barrel for a 30. With it installed on my OTHER 30, then for the first time, there will be NO ready assembled 45 Glock anywhere in my luxurious Dungeon suite ... Whoops! ... in the miserably pathetic hovel which is my duty station for admin work supporting the 10-Ring revelry.

Please note: There is a limit to my progression away from the 45 heresy. I still have the 45 top ends and mags. I will still use them for my hopelessly deficient attempts to expend my reserve stocks of 45 ammo; my failure to maintain a proper expenditure rate of this ammo condemns me to continuing Chamber Sessions at the hands of Suze and Twee-twee. Such is life (... sigh ... ).

Perhaps the top ends & magazines could be sold off to suppliment more 10MM equipment ?
And the remaining ammo could be broken down & compponents reclaimed ?

Geez, don't even try and make me feel guilty for taking my 1911 and my G21 to my Monday night shooting league tomorrow. I'm getting really nice groups out of both guns right now.
OF COURSE, I have recently found a load for my G20SF which puts all my other guns to shame. But, I won't be taking the G20 to my shooting league until I get two more magazines for it. It was a classic chicken and egg economics problem. Do I get a thousand rounds of Ranier 155 grain flat nose bullets while they are on sale, or do I get two more magazines and have nothing to shoot through my ten mils. I chose the bullets.

I think your G30 with it's G29 slide will perform well and I've got my fingers crossed that your KKM conversion barrel will not have extractor problems.

Don't worry, MDoe. The Dungeon Legal Team has prepared a legal analysis that gets you off the guilt hook COMPLETELY! The 1911 is a 45 platform, and therefore possession of one does NOT constitute heresy, but rather nostalgia for the shrouded mists of antiquity before the 10mm even existed. Your 21 was a tougher one to justify; we finally concluded that keeping the 1911 company, thus preventing it from pining away from loneliness, constitutes ample justification for possessing an otherwise heretical subversion of the true 10mm faith. So blast away!

Whoa!! Whoa!!! Try this one. Since the Model 21 and Model 30 undoubtedlly share the same production facilities with the G20 and G29, couldn't the relative success of the .45 ACP botique cartridge to the less enlightened actually be viewed as a subsidy to the venerable 10mm platform?

Contributions to variable cost, fixed costs and sunk costs to be discussed at a later date if necessary.

Well, it is quite simple really. Our in house brewing operation for N*ppl* Sweat beer requires a special filtration media that is unlike any other in the industry. Engineer designed this brewing system and came up with this wonderful filtering method for the brew, but we were kinda stuck on what to filter it WITH until he came up with this great idea...... BIKINI TOPS. The only credit I can take in this matter is the name but it was Engineer's brilliance that brought us this nectar of the gods.

every once in a while we require some new "used" filtration media to give it that special kick you just can't get from a store bought bikini top.

Actually, Eric's recent recognition of 10-Ring stamina in maintaining a thread for ten years has created a paradygm shift in our perception of life within the 10-Ring organization. Looking ahead ONLY five pages is so minor that it almost falls off our perception ranking scale. The big one, FIVE HUNDRED pages, is the target worthy of our partying, logistics, and embezzlement attentions.
