Besides, we don't "donate", rather we "Make a substantial contribution for the health & well being of the Children". And then we write it off !

As far as a perpetual -motion device, look into the Mexican operation of rat breeding & cat skinning, for the production of cheap fur coats.Skin the cats, feed them to the rats, in turn feeding the rats to the ever breeding cats, etcetcetc.....

Now if we could just get the Mexican Cat Skinners Union to donate their time, we would be good to go !

Around here we worked out a slightly more complicated version that involves earthworms, rabbits and a catfish pond.

Those with more room substitute pigs for the rabbits.

As we approach a milestone an idea has popped into my furry brain. No doubt this is a reflection of the fourth Red Bull of the day but it might be worth considering.

It would be possible to employ the Tardis to journey back in time to the beginning of the thread and create a sort of "reversed and double twisted, "Time capsule" of sorts and insert a page of posts into the beginning of the thread wherein the current denizens could "write their name on the wall" as it were and make predictions about the course of the thread. Now in the case of lowly late arriving serfs such as myself it would induce much confusion to those who might be trying to follow the course if we had posts in the thread that pre-dated our membership in GT in general. The predictions would also be so eerily accurate that it might induce a sense (very deserved anyway) of awe at the powers of the organization. Those of lesser or short and weak caliber minds would be no doubt amazed.

Fun as it would be, using TARDIS to re-write history is not permitted. Part of the deal with the Time Lords, along with no profit making activities, enhancement of collections, etc.
We can go back in time & play with the toys, but they must stay in their respective time-space areas. And we must be careful not to change history as it stands, lest we eliminate ourselves from the mix, which would in turn, alter history. A sad Catch-22 if you will.

The SUPPOSED accidental libation overflow problem in the Dungeon production area is actually a clever plot to keep the 10-Ringers mellow during the transition from the end of the millionth hit blowout until the start of the Mayan calendar end of the world party.

I am mildly surprised they were that easily misled.

Thanks to the Pee-ons who Sucked Up the leaked libations! The effort was dually noted! :whistling:
Due to the recent SUPPOSED accidental libation overflow problem in the Dungeon production area, the 10-Ringers had a slight proplem with overflow cleanup on Isle 5, this resulted to several restroom trips by the 10-Ringers...This test of the recycling facilities prior to the start of the Mayan calendar end of the world party, has proved satsisfactory given the shear volume deposited in the recyling rooms!

SPECIAL ADMINISTRATIVE NOTICE

The Dungeon peons will soon be making the libation transition FROM the millionth hit blowout TO the Mayan calendar end of the world celebration. This transition will require that, for a fifteen minute period, libation delivery service time will increase from the standard three seconds to an admittedly substandard 4.8 seconds. While we LSMPS(BBB)DPs regret this inconvenience, the maintenance of the sterling Lagoon party reputation makes this delay necessary.

We appreciate your understanding.

LAST MINUTE ADMIN ITEM

The Mayan scuzzbucket sleazeball whose proclamation started this whole shtick was not clear on whether the world ends on the 21st or the 22nd. Since our peak partying period may therefore extend over TWO days rather than one, the Dungeon embezzlement rate will be slightly increased this weekend to cover the.additional float. We trust the 10-Ringers will understand.

Let us not be too harsh or quick in our criticism of those of lower standards, they serve a purpose. Some body has to get rid of all that 9mm and .40 ammo that factories keep turning out.

It is sort of like the guys who date fat chicks from trailer parks. If it weren't for them there would be hoards of fat chicks, roaming the streets and dragging unwilling men into alleys and performing unspeakable acts upon them. (If you actually LIKE that kind of thing I do know how it may be organized for a nominal cost)

so it is with the 9 and .40 somebody has to do it and better those that know no better than others, of more discerning tastes, being forced to perform such shameful acts.

There is an important exception to this cancellation policy: if you had scheduled vacation time to attend a party at ANOTHER venue, your vacation approval will stand. Such other-party activity is an important aspect of our research effort to keep OUR partying up to date.

Excellent notion. This gives a reasonable "margin of error" to prevent embarrassment caused by assuming a total correlation of dates without allowing for an inverse ratio of multiplicable variables.

Of anyone we should be aware of this it should be us. It would be very damaging to our reputation if we were to prematurely end the celebr...err preparations

VN350X10
12-22-2012, 19:30
Rabbi, I believe that you're confusing "vacation" with "rersearch".
Doing research at another venue's party is covered in paragraph 6, sub section c, and is also deductible & can in fact be requested as being re-imbursable, as far as travel & lodging expenses are concerned.
This can be expidited by submitting a "Graft & Corruptiion" form directly to the Penthouse fiscal staff, eliminating the need to run it thru Dungeon accounting, saving us bookeeping time & expense. When Pent.fiscal enters it into their acct's. payable, a DUPLICATE payment is generated that goes directly into Dungeon R&D, which then transfers into Engineer 151515's "N"SweatLager production expense acct.
ergo, Penthouse pays for OUR brewski DIRECTLY, with zero expense to us.

These 3 were purchased for a good customer from our retail store, and I'm not going to make a dime on them. We didn't try to gouge any of our customers, as we have a rather stable base. And when all of this panic buying subsides, they WILL remember who didn't try & screw them over.

So very true. One of the principles of successful embezzlement if to not humiliate the donor. It is far better for the long term and repeated endeavor if the mark walks away saying "look what I got" rather than saying "Look at what I had to pay for this".

Who are the gun nuts? They are Law enforcement, military, fire service, EMS, (active and retired) they gun manufactures, collectors, competition shooters, hunters and yes just plain old ordnary people who want to exercise their second amendment freedom for to provide self defense for themselves and family. Well, looking FORWARD (as Obama says) to the New Year's Blowout party! Can you believe it will be 2013...:wow:
This years' party should top all previous Lagoon Festivities. The Swedish Bikini Team is set to open the event...something about a "NEW" drink the "Poo Poo Float" (said to be bits of baby ruth floatinging in Yoohoo with a twist?)
http://ts4.mm.bing.net/th?id=H.5057256054196163&pid=1.7
for the 9 and 40 crowds served in the area called the "Cesspool"...:drowning:

It should be understood that those in the "Cesspool" area can not just arbitrarily leave that area without a full Haz-Mat decon...:shower:

Given our proximity to "that" page number coming up I thought it might be prudent... if a 10 ringer can even function near a level called prudent... that we should discuss some sort of action plan to get through "that" page as quickly as possible. It's not that I am superstitious or anything, well, maybe I am, I would just not care to dwell on "that" particular page number, if you know what I mean.

I was thinking maybe we could have an action team in place to post a large number of posts so that we can spend as little time as possible on "that" page. Anyone have any suggestions or thoughts on the topic?

I would have to speculate that McQueen was flogging the 'Stang so hard that he was floating the valves. Easy to do in a 390 c.i.d. FoMoCo big block.....they're made for torque, not revs !

12-29-2012, 09:45
Can anyone provide an estimate of how fast the cars in the chase were ACTUALLY going on that final "country" chase sequence? Since the camera vehicles paralleling them had to deliver quality bounce-free film, that must have limited the actual speeds.

VN350X10
12-29-2012, 19:16
Remember that movie cameras have gyroscopic stabililzers in the carriage, so they are steady at speed.
In another McQueen flick, "LeMans", a Ford GT 40 was used as a camera platform, and the cars WERE very close to actual racing speeds, some of the footage was shot DURING the actual LeMans race.
But in answer to the posed question, I really don't know. Possible research subject for a technical inquisitiion of sorts.

FWIW.....the GT 40 MK IV that Dan & A.J drove sits in the Ford collection, not on public display. Other than draining the gas & oil & a wash job, the car is as it finished & WON at LeMans !
Change tires, add fluids, fresh battery & it's ready to race ! George Stauffer from Blue Mound WI has probably the largest collection of Ford GT race cars in existance & has tried to buy this car on numerous occasions.
George doesn't just collect them, he's a frequent competitor at the historic races at Road America in Elkhart Lake WI. from personal experience, after the races he puts on one hell of a party at the track for racers & workers. Been there, Done that !
Besides racing, uncle worked tech & safety for S.C.C.A. for a number of years.

Unkle, your distinction between PARTY driving and WORK driving is valid.

We do request that when you are party driving, you wear a party hat. We are concerned that the marginally coherent 10-Ring celebrants (pardon my redundancy) may think that doing a mere 200mph is the limit of your competitive capability; a prominent party hat on your head while driving in party mode would eliminate such possible confusion.

Ah so, yes, I have noticed that to be a pattern in many fields of endeavor. I find it most curious that, IME, some of the fields a certain amount of instability would seem to naturally require a deviation from the norm, yet these are the fields that take pains to convince others of the opposite.

Other fields such as hurling a vehicle at high rates of speed, one would assume a certain level of sanity to be a requisite,(not to be confused with reckless abandon) yet it seems to be of no concern.

One would think that their contracts would contain a sanity clause, but apparently not.

Throw some temporary pink and purple decals on it for the duration of your party driving. We need to convince the.minimally coherent 10-Ringers (pardon my redundancy) that you are indeed in party mode when you are creeping along at a measely 200 mph!

Well, the name on it is in blue/red "bubble" type lettering & reads "FAT ALBERT" so it's about as close to purple as it's going to get.
As far as a propeller, that won't work, as it occasionally gets used for an open car, and since FIA ruled against Jim Hall & the Chapperall with regards to "movable areodynamic devices" it would, in fact, cover the addition of a propeller. Sorry.

The director called for speeds of about 75-80 mph, but the cars (including the ones containing the cameras) reached speeds of over 110 mph.
Filming of the chase scene took three weeks, resulting in 9 minutes and 42 seconds of footage.

Man I am glad I'm older now and smarter !

Now it's time to hit the recliner after a day in the saddle and brush, or whatever else. haha

Well, gotta run ( or limp) gents, so adios til next time

Unkle, your outlook is perhaps too limited. The three J's (JW, JB, JD) have collectively achieved a general purpose identity that makes them ideally suited to the outlook on life generally perceived by the inebriated 10-Ringer. (pardon my redundancy) Any attempt to limit the applicability of these three ingredients to restricted aspects of life would be ... well ... boorish in the extreme!

Actually, Unkle, whether I actually HAVE a point is immaterial to the function of this thread. I assume we are using the standard dodge...errrr.. I mean "protocol" of beginning the festivities with each attendee standing up, declaring what business they are in and saying a couple of words bout it, and then we pass out some phony....errrr I mean, "semi significant" paperwork declaring the event to be an "'advertising optimization and experience exchange seminar" so that all expense become deductible?

Countrygun, your proposed writeoff method lacks elegance, since it would require the blitzed 10-Ringers (pardon my redundancy) to go to the bother of actually standing up, and then say something coherent!

Instead, a Proficient Dungeon Bullshi ... Whoops! ... Financial Accounting Analyst! ... will present a summary of our latest earnings projections. We shall then waive a roll call vote by a voice vote, and then adopt the proposed plan, again by a voice vote.

This method means the participants will only have to croak out some kind of VERBAL response, doing so only twice, and remain seated ... or slouched ... or prone ... or in whatever demented physical configurations they happen to be occupying.

Providing such recliners would be very capital intensive and chew up valuable meeting hall floor area. There was quite a bit of speculation among the .40/9mm crowd about his reputation and whether or not if was earned etc. As far as I see it from my perspective, by doing such a job of promotion, and with his obvious skills, the legend did become fact and his ability to make it so is something I think 10ringer's can admire as it's own separate accomplishment from a business perspective. Certainly his talent for self promotion was put to an honest use and not sullied by politics or some other lesser vice.

Unkle, the high prices on the beater AR GI mags is driven partly by one obscure aspect of past and current mag bans: if you own a preban hicap, it is legal to REPAIR it by replacing the "controlled" mag body with an otherwise disallowed hicap mag body. Most people assume this exemption will be part of whatever federal ban may be coming, so they are snarfing down the beaters as well as the newbie's.

AWNAA (Americans With No Abilities Act).... POI
CLASSIC!"President Barack Obama and the Democratic Senate are considering sweeping legislation that will provide new benefits for many Americans. The Americans With No Abilities Act is being hailed as a major legislative goal by advocates of the millions of Americans who lack any real skills or ambition."Roughly 50 percent of Americans do not possess the competence and drive necessary to carve out a meaningful role for themselves in society," said California Sen. Barbara Boxer. "We can no longer stand by and allow People of Inability (POI) to be ridiculed and passed over. With this legislation, employers will no longer be able to grant special favors to a small group of workers, simply because they have some idea of what they are doing."In a Capitol Hill press conference, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid pointed to the success of the U.S. Postal Service, which has a long-standing policy of providing opportunity without regard to performance. At the state government level, the Department of Motor Vehicles also has an excellent record of hiring Persons with No Ability (63 percent).Under the Americans With No Abilities Act, more than 25 million mid-level positions will be created, with important-sounding titles but little real responsibility, thus providing an illusory sense of purpose and performance.Mandatory non-performance-based raises and promotions will be given to guarantee upward mobility for even the most unremarkable employees. The legislation provides substantial tax breaks to corporations that promote a significant number of Persons of Inability (POI) into middle-management positions, and give a tax credit to small and medium-sized businesses that agree to hire one clueless worker for every two talented hires. Finally, the Americans With No Abilities Act contains tough new measures to make it more difficult to discriminate against the non-abled, banning, for example, discriminatory interview questions such as, "Do you have any skills or experience that relate to this job?""As a non-abled person, I can't be expected to keep up with people who have something going for them," said Mary Lou Gertz, who lost her position as a lug-nut twister at the GM plant in Flint, Mich., due to her inability to remember righty tighty, lefty loosey. "This new law should be real good for people like me. I finally have job security." With the passage of this bill, Gertz and millions of other untalented citizens will finally see a light at the end of the tunnel.Said Sen. Dick Durbin: "As a senator with no abilities, I believe the same privileges that elected officials enjoy ought to be extended to every American with no abilities. It is our duty as lawmakers to provide each and every American citizen, regardless of his or her inadequacy, with some sort of space to take up in this great nation and a good salary for doing so."We have kick-started this program byhaving a POI in the White-house.

Since the liberal fascists learned everything they know about guns from Hollywood films, if it was in a movie, they'll try and ban it.

Look at some of the nonsense they have banned in the past.

Flashhiders: (prevents the shooter from being distracted by the flash, but I get the impression that politicians think it makes the shooter invisible).

Sawed off shotguns: (Essentially a low pressure shotgun, but politicians have this confused with a shotgun with no choke). :dunno:

High flow toilets: (Essentially requiring us to have toilets that need to be flushed three times).

Propane powered vehicles are illegal in California: (These clean running vehicles produce little pollution and are so clean the engine life is extended, yet they you can't register one in CA).

If (and when) the prices on LEDs come down, and maybe when they can make them so they give off a little more light, we can replace those nasty fluorescents. The thing that irks me, is LEDs consume so little power, and last for over twenty years, so if the government hadn't passed another stupid law, they could have simply educated the public to the advantages and let the free market take its course. :deadhorse::soap:

Bud the Cowboy

(your smile for theday)

A cowboynamed Bud was overseeing his herd in a remote mountainous pasture in Montana whensuddenly a brand-new BMW advanced toward him out of a cloud of dust.

The driver, a young man in a Brioni® suit, Gucci® shoes, RayBan® sunglassesand YSL® tie, leaned out the window and asked the cowboy, "If I tell youexactly how many cows and calves you have in your herd, will you give me acalf?"

Bud looks at the man, who obviously is a yuppie, then looks at hispeacefully grazing herd and calmly answers, "Sure, why not?"

The yuppie parks his car, whips out his Dell® notebook computer, connects itto his Cingular RAZR V3® cell phone, and surfs to a NASA page on the Internet, where he calls up a GPS satellite to get an exact fix on his location which hethen feeds to another NASA satellite that scans the area in anultra-high-resolutionphoto.

The young man then opens the digital photo in Adobe Photoshop® and exportsit to an image processing facility in Hamburg,Germany.

Within seconds, he receives an email on his Palm Pilot® that the image hasbeen processed and the data stored. He then accesses an MS-SQL® databasethrough an ODBC connected Excel® spreadsheet with email on his Blackberry® and, after a few minutes, receives aresponse.

Finally, he prints out a full-color, 150-page report on his hi-tech,miniaturized HP LaserJet® printer, turns to the cowboy and says, "You haveexactly 1,586 cows and calves."

"That's right. Well, I guess you can take one of my calves,"says Bud.

Hewatches the young man select one of the animals and looks on with amusement asthe young man stuffs it into the trunk of hiscar.

Then Bud says to the young man, "Hey, if I can tell you exactly whatyour business is will you give me back mycalf?"

The young man thinks about it for a second and then says, "Okay, whynot?"

"You're a Congressman for the U.S.

Government",says Bud.

"Wow! That's correct," says the yuppie; "but how did youguess that?"

"No guessing required." answered the cowboy. "You showed uphere even though nobody called you; you want to get paid for an answer Ialready knew, to a question I never asked. You used millions of dollars worthof equipment trying to show me how much smarter than me you are; and you don'tknow a thing about how working people make a living - or about cows, for thatmatter. This is a herd of sheep.
Now give me back my dog.”
