View Full Version : Holsters for 19
Any recommendations of a good IWB or OWB hoslter that is reasonably priced. Also reasons to buy one over the other (IWB OWB).
I just picked up an Old World Leather OWB holster for my G19 (also fits the G36 just fine)
It can be worn either straight up or FBI cant. If I wear it strait up it needs a real stif belt to keep it from flopping outwards.
But pretty decent holster for $19.

I bought a Fobus OWB for my G19 after I bought the pistol back in IL. I only used it to carry around the house (no carry elsewhere in IL). The Fobus is cheap, has exceptional retention and has a lifetime warranty. It is well worth the money.
Now that I live in AZ and carry all the time, I have a Sidearmor IWB for CCW. No complaints about it. My G19 conceals well with it under just a T-shirt. I have a Sidearmor OWB modular holster I use when carrying openly and for my monthly IDPA matches. I bought it as I figured it would be useful for cross draw, especially when driving. I've yet to try it that way.
I also have an Eagle Industries fanny pack holster which is useful. I used it before I got the Sidearmor IWB.
There are a lot of options and reasons for each one. You will find that just having one holster will never be sufficient. :) :)

Having been in law enforcement for so long I've got G19 holsters running out the wazoo. The Glock holster is nice, AND cheap. Also have a Don Hume that the G19 fits in probably better than anything else. It cost around $40.00. That said, when I carry the Glock off duty I usually just carry it in a Bagmaster brand bag. Fits the pistol like a glove and has plenty of room for spare mags, knife, wallet. etc. It doesn't look like a full blown fanny pack which is what I like.
plastic guns require plastic holsters.:)
Comp-tac Gurka (http://www.comp-tac.com/)
kytac braveheart (http://www.kytac.com/page3.html)
i have IWBs from both of these guys, and they are excellent.

Blade-tech kydex IWB works great for me. I also have one of their carbon fiber OWB holsters and prefer the IWB over it. The IWB sits right against the body (I always have on an undershirt so I never have to worry about the finish of the weapon being in constant contact of perspiration) and I can snap it on or off in a hurry. Good all around holster for less than $30.
I have had my Galco Royal Guard iwb holster for seven years and working on my 2nd G19. It has retained it's shape and it's rigidity, so that the reholster is just as easy as the draw it was 59 bucks at the time, a good buy at twice the price. Remember that your pistol is only worth a damn if you can get it in your hand before the fight starts.

kramer IWB #3, I've tried them all and keep coming back to this one. TT
I like the Sparks Versa Max II. Will conceal under a T shirt, and very comfortable.

I like the Threat solutions UCR or Comp-Tac's CTAC slide.

I have a FIST OWB Kydex holster for my Ruger P95 and it is very good in terms of quality, retention, and close fit. I intend to order one soon for my G23. The web site is: www.fist-inc.com. I have also heard good things about Sidearmor and Comp-Tac. I currently use a Fobus holster for my G23 and the FIST seems so much better there is no comparison(of course, the FIST holster I have cost $44.95 plus s&h, much more than the Fobus).

Comp-Tac's CTAC, for me it's the most comfortable I've found.
OWB? How about a nice Uncle Mikes Size 4...about 19.99 online last time I bought one.
I had to get a holster for an IDPA event that's in about a week, but I don't have money right now for a nice Kramer, or Galco (or one of the other nice types already mentioned). So today I picked up a cheap ($15 bucks) Uncle Mike's #53 Kydex, and I've gotta say I like it a lot more than I thought I would. I got the belt loop kind and put a two-mag pouch on order. At first I thought I would just use it for IDPA until I can save up for a 'nicer' one, but I may keep this one and put my money elsewhere.

I'll trow my two cents in and also suggest the Comp-Tac CTAC.

Alessi Talon IWB and/or Belt Slide.
I have one of each for every carry gun I own.

I have a G-Code (http://www.range5.com) modular holster I ordered from Gunner's Alley. I got mine with the FBI cant (15 degree) paddle attachment and the "Comfort Carry" IWB attachment. The IWB really is comfortable and the G19 disappears under a loose cover garment (IWB and OWB). Check these holsters out! ^c
Don't forget to check out the lowly Glock sport/combat holster. It's not much to look at but for utility and price it's a good deal.
