not sure if this is the right place or not.

i have been searching everywhere trying to find info on a rifle that was given to me.

here is the gun...

http://www.mindspring.com/~rhettbean/post/guns/torino/riflel.jpg

more pics HERE (http://www.mindspring.com/~rhettbean/post/guns/torino/)

i searched around under "Torino" and found this LINK (http://www.rememuseum.org.uk/arms/rifles/armisrc.htm)

i haven't been able to positively ID the rifle yet, but im getting closer, i hope some gurus can help me out.

I plan on selling the gun, because im not into antiques, and want to sell it to someone who can apreciate it. i also want to know what a fair price for the gun is.

thanks

While I don't know what it is, it looks like you have a special piece of history there.

Torino is probably "Turin" or "Turino", Turin is a place in Italy... long time gun manufacturing if I remember.

Looks to be mid 1890s weapon, possibly not military issue (the hook on the triggerguard) though with the fully stocked barrel, it's probably military issue. No clue as to the type, but I'll look around in my books and see. From the 1890s on it was all Mannlicher Carcano rifles for the majority of Italy's weaponry till the end of WW2.

A Vetterli! Never even popped into my head...... the magazine fed thing threw me off. Probably a needle gun then (like the Dreyse).
