I want to try this when I get home. Can I get your public key and email, you can pm me it, if not its cool.

What email client do you use?

I'm a fan of both as well, though I tend to default to PGP.

I use PGP, since most people I know use it too.

i would like to use one, but no one i know will take the key, so they can't read any of my emails.

Other way around. You use their public key to encrypt the email and they decrypt with their private key.

If you sign an email, the other person can verify it with your public key. It will still go through as plain text email, though.

okay. i'll rephrase. nobody i know will mess with a key of any kind, so i can't get the encryption.

at work at least, we have auto encryption with lotus notes on inter-office email, but stuff flowing to the internet is plain text.

I use PGP not just for encrypting email correspondence, but for encrypting local files. Particularly useful if you got porn in your network files at work. ;f That way your buddies who have your keys can access them, without using up space in the email servers.
