To help get things started, here are some poems I have jotted down, over the years. The first two poems have been published, the first poem twice:

Silence Cry

Walking in the silence
The silence in my heart, it seems
I've walked these roads forever
Feel the silence scream

Echos in the dusty halls
The tainted rooms, the musty walls
Echos in my mind and heart
I've seen the silence cry

Walking through the morning rain
I hear a desperate cry
The struggle of a tired soul
To give silent reply

Searching darkness
For a gate
To find release
It's not too late
To seek a passage
To a fate
Where pain will cry no more --- Eric Powell, 1987

Killing Time

Wasting time
Till time is gone
Killing time
But time lives on
Stopping time
But time still runs
Hopeless time
Time under guns
Passing time
But time stands still
Pushing time
Time rolls downhill
Saving time
But time we waste
Sensing time
Time's bitter taste
Watching time
Till time is through
Violent time
Time's after you! --- Eric Powell, 1988

Time Into Time

Time is my enemy
And my friend?
Sometimes
My joys are fleeting
And my sorrows long
And the memories longer
I live a lifetime of hopes, dreams and smiles
Each day
Time confines me
It limits me
Daunting my determination
Burying old wounds
To fester in the dark
Time hold the secrets of my future
And the seeds of my past
In a firm grip
It unrolls my troubles and triumphs to me
Day into day
Time into time
Forever in a second
I long for my destiny
Forever out of my grasp
A delightful object
Never to be touched
But savored slowly
And too quickly
Time will take all I have
And all I am
And in the end, I will confront time
My old comrad...
My ancient adversary
Time into time
Life into death
Forever --- Eric Powell, 1985

---------------------------

Into the darkness
Fleeing the light
Foresaking the sunshine
I lived in the night

Twilight awakes me
From death's cold embrace
To search for some answers
To rejoin the race... Unfinished --- Eric Powell

----------------------------------------------

Feel the coming of a winter
So cold
So cold is the frost
That shrouds my life
In a numbing calm... Unfinished --- Eric

--------------------------------------

I sense winds of change blowing
A gentle breeze
Insistent --- Eric Powell, 1991

Most of my other stuff is deeply personal to me. I will kick some of it around and post more later. Eric

Wow! Cool! Thanks for sharing that Eric...

Perhaps I'll be bold:

Here are a couple I wrote in the 1980s:
no title
Music beats screams,
And clams the wild
Beasts prancing in
A strange and unrecognized
Mating ritual, leading
To denied conception
As two beasts reach
Out in a night for
One moment of pleasure...
Eric Paulsen ~ 1989

TOBACCO
Insidious weed
Burning slowly
Staining fingers
As dark gray smoke
Trickles out your nostrils
Brining prolonged death
After years of
Short dirty pleasure
Eric Paulsen ~ 1989

WORDS
If I had the words
To express what my heart feels
Cars would be obsolete
Music would be at my feet
The world would shiver
Brave men would quiver
And I might accept who I am.
Eric Paulsen ~ 1989
