View Full Version : Military issue 1911 mags ok to use?
Other than cleaning then...would these mags be ok for back-up?
And who makes, or made, the majority of the 1911 mags for the military?

Shoot a couple hundred rounds with those mags and see. Some guns are picky about mags and some aren't. If you have problems then put wilson springs and followers in. If you still have problems and are determined to use them then you might do some work on the feed lips.

This tokarev wouldn't run worth a damn until I had the feedramp done.
I also had to do some filing on the mags. I filed the front of the feed lips so the round could go up at sharper angle. Once I got the mags right it fed every hollow point I could find. It is just as reliable now as my revolver.
The reason for the mag problem is that this gun is a 9MM instead of the original 7.62X25 and the morons that put it together didn't do a very good job.
Thanks IMAS. Good info there!

When I asked about these old surplus mags on 1911forum and THR I was told they are crap. I've seen them as cheap as $5ea, gun shows are abound with them.
