I am shooting something like 1500 rounds a month thru my Glock 19 ...

At what point should I change what items for proper maintenance? (springs etc...)

Thus far it has not hiccupped and the only thing I have changed is the 2183 followers in the mags for 9mm1s from Glock.

Should I leave it well enough alone until it does start having problems or should I change things at regular intervals before problems start?

Learn to detail strip your pistol, it's not hard.

I detail my CCW (G19) and primary IDPA pistol (G34) every thousand rounds, or every month, whichever comes first.

This not only keeps the internals clean, but also allows you to inspect for any parts that may need replacement.

My $.02: If it's not broke, don't fix it. The only thing I've changed on my pistols is sights, and my G19 gets new magazine springs once a year.
