I went to Arcadia yesterday as part of an ARES/RACES team. Quite a lot of devastation, no electricity, no cell service, no police or fire coms. The hams were able to get police and fire coms going, along with manning shelters and providing important communication assistance. Some spotty cell phone service was coming back last night.
It was pretty strange seeing Americans lining up at Salvation Army and Red Cross relief stations. It was really gratifying to see Americans pouring in with all kinds of volunteer aid. I was glad I was able to help a little.
